Jared Lee Loughner listened to whom? Not to Sarah Palin, or 'right-wing extremists'; Loughner was a lefty who likely hated Sarah Palin and I doubt he listened to any right-wing pundits on radio or TV. Maybe Jared Lee Loughner listened to Barack Obama, and pushed back against a decidedly blue-dog Democrat? Maybe he reads Markos Moulitsas (proprietor of the far-Left blog Daily KOS, a prominent Democrat site that has hosted diaries written by Democrat politicians, and yes, even Keith Olbermann)?

Daily KOS had a diarist's post up two days before the shootings, since scrubbed, stating that Ms. Gifford was 'dead to me'. More likely that a 22-y/o was attracted to Daily KOS than to the 'old men' in the party of FOX.

Professor Glenn Reynolds asks this:

"To be clear, if you're using this event to criticize the "rhetoric" of Mrs. Palin or others with whom you disagree, then you're either: (a) asserting a connection between the "rhetoric" and the shooting, which based on evidence to date would be what we call a vicious lie; or (b) you're not, in which case you're just seizing on a tragedy to try to score unrelated political points, which is contemptible. Which is it?"

From what I read here, Dr. Krugman, and from many other far-left news organizations and web sites, I see no reason to have any reaction other than contempt.

I just finished reading Barrett Brown’s (aka “Barriticus” .. no kidding, that’s his Photobucket screen name) cry-me-a-river whine-fest screed, and his Daily Kos diary. From what deep well of sorrowful bitterness and envy does “Barriticus” get the nerve to question PW’s comment section when he’s a lapdog diarist in the most bunkered-down and nassty, evil, under-bridge-troll-minded blog on the planet? Remember Daily Kos’ diarists’ reactions after the death of Tony Snow? Has anyone tried to post there who’s not of their full-metal-straight-jacketed mindset, and kept their account? For shame, Barret Brown. That KOS membership sullys any thing else you post anywhere (yes, Sullys, as in Andrew).

“Barriticus” tries to posit a link between the coming “new” world wide internet, one that’s no longer controlled by the US, a tenuous argument at best; he lamely suggests that the rest of the world’s opinions of the U.S.A will be changed and damaged by exposure to PW’s commenters. As if every other person on the planet with internet access is suddenly going to descend on any blog and delve into reading the comments. I know I do every day, don’t you? I especially enjoy reading those political blogs in China, where we find comments from the heart and soul of the free and happy populace.

Even is there was such a worldwide descent into blogger’s comments as Barrett imagines, then “Barriticus” might concern himself with his own meager comment section, which now features the creature timb, “timmah”, who was dwarf-tossed out of PW hundreds of times and still pathetically crawls around the blogs looking to trash Jeff G. That’s some unrequited love poor timmah is caught up in.

Timmah found a person with whom to share his pinings in the whining poison-pen posted by “Barriticus”.

You two girls pass notes and giggle behind your hands now, you hear? As a couple of billet-doux twisted sisters.

John Edwards, on Bill Clinton: "I think this president has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. "This was our private matter, and I frankly wanted it to be private because as painful as it was I did not want to have to play it out on a public stage as well. Because of a recent string of hurtful and absurd lies in a tabloid publication, because of a picture falsely suggesting that John was spending time with a child it wrongly alleged he had fathered outside our marriage, our private matter could no longer be wholly private."

Looks like to the bitter end, John Edwards has continued to deny being little Frances Hunter's father. Now, after a Raleigh Grand Jury dragged Rielle across country to testify under oath (about whether or not John Edwards paid his good friend Andrew Young campaign funds to 'take the heat', and the paternity rap), things are asploding rather quickly.

Sorry, John, but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Oh, and John, I hear there's a nice motor yacht for sale; just for you, named the Monkey Business Silky Pony Business.

Just in today, from Americans for Limited Government (ALG)...

In April of this year, the Obama Administration deliberately – and deceptively -- used a frighteningly kooky website to condemn tens of millions of innocent Americans who have fought for their country, cherish the sanctity of life, or stand up for the 10th Amendment.

There is simply no other way to put it.

In its now-discredited “Report on Rightwing Extremism,” Obama’s Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security warned every police department in the country that veterans, right-to-lifers, and states’ rights advocates were potential terrorists who warranted intense scrutiny. In response to that report, Americans for Limited Government filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request demanding to know how DHS had arrived at such a chilling conclusion.

The response from DHS is stunning.

As it turns out, Janet Napolitano’s DHS did not conduct even the most rudimentary research or investigation. It did no statistical analysis. It did not even bother to interview those it accused and allow them the opportunity to defend themselves.

Instead, in what should send shockwaves throughout the nation, DHS functionaries simply cruised the Internet (in tin-foil hats, no doubt) and relied entirely upon some of the most disreputable sites on the web to stage its attack upon its “rightwing” targets.

One of those 'Right Wing Extremist' sites is WhatDoesItMean dot com, a whacker site that features images of Noah's Ark, angels, dragons, unicorns, Masonic symbols, 9-11 Truther logos ... you name it, if it's whaaako, that site's got it. From that one site, lovely and gracious Janet Napolitano decides that everyone to her immediate right is whacky. Barack Obama obviously agrees.

Bill Wilson, ALG President, calls on Janet Napolitano to resign immediately. Well, that's not going to happen with our current President and Congress, because they are all to the left, with Obama, and most of 'em support whatever lovely Janet has to say. There will be no justice or fairness in Washington until 2010, when the mid term elections bring in some needed CHANGE.

Can you imagine the hostility the forces of the Left would unleash if, say, a right-wing sort went to Huffington Post and chronicled their fanaticisms, and tried to fashion government policy from that visit? Or, even farther to the left (but not by much) those bottom-feeders at Daily KOS, Eschaton (Atrios), Sadly, No!, Democratic Underground, any of those left-freaker sites?

Another site lovely Janet Reno visits (oops, I meant Janet Napolitano, didn't I?) is the extremist Southern Poverty Law Center, who sees white sheets and burning crosses everywhere they look. If they can't find any, they will invent 'em. They serve no useful purpose; like the Klan, they have outlived their usefulness. Now, they are simply a tool of the far left, and feed Janet Reno Napolitano's wildest dreams. What she should be investigating in some of Obama's illegal and unconstitutional CZAR 's.

I hope Barack Obama gets a leash for some of his high-level 'pets'. Lovely Janet could wear pink, don't you think?

What kind of Web Commenter are you?

• The Troll -- Everyone knows this guy (and it's usually a guy), who intentionally visits sites in order to stir things up, provoke a furious reaction from other posters and then disappear. Classic examples are the Free Republic types who visit Daily Kos and vice versa.

• The Droll -- The mainstay of all fun sites, this poster regularly tosses out clever comments, plays on words, one-liners or amusing pictures. There are a lot of these characters on places like Fark.com

• The Relentless Pol -- Posters who can't join any discussion without immediately using it to make a political point, i.e., "The current lack of sunspots is the direct result of the Bush administration's failed policies."

• The Skimmer -- The commenter, usually sour, who reads only a headline or sentence of a piece, draws exactly the wrong conclusion, and then embarks on an embarrassing rant.

• The Trimmer -- A commenter who initially stakes a strong position, and then under withering attack from other commenters slowly backs off until he or she has completely abandoned that original position.

• The Angry Man -- We all know this guy. His solution for almost any problem in the world is the summary execution, in as grisly a manner as possible, of every possible perpetrator.

• The Dismisser -- The ultimate arrogant commenter, this person never actually engages with the topic, but merely declares it beneath anyone's interest, already resolved, or improperly stated -- and thus hardly worth the bother. The dismisser's only real message is: I'm smarter than you and you need to acknowledge that fact.

• The Butt-Kisser -- Famous writers and bloggers get this one. It's the poster who just can't say enough about how brilliant was that last entry, how they wish they could say it half as good, etc. My assumption is that these folks are angling for some kind of personal relationship with the writer.

• The Kumbaya -- These folks always show up two-thirds of the way through any heated on-line debate and ask, "Why can't we all just get along?" They are inevitably ignored or trashed.

• The Parser -- What would we do without the Internet Grammar Police? These folks assiduously correct the online writings of others -- never quite catching on that the Web is designed to be fast, fresh and sloppy.

• The Pretender -- Everybody is a pretender on the Web -- on the Internet, no one knows you're a dog, as the New Yorker cartoon said. Look at all of those made-up names and sexy icons. But some people just take it to pathological extremes. If the real world actually had that many war heroes, beauty contest winners, Mensa members and Olympic lovers, it would be a very different place.

• The Defender -- Bloggers love these guys. When you are getting hammered by other posters, this is the guy who watches your back, supports you, and tells your enemies off & and does a better job of it than your real-life friends.

• The Perv -- These guys show up a lot on celebrity sites, announcing some really disgusting thing they'd like to do to that famous figure & and of course will never get the chance to, thanks to stalker laws, restraining orders, and the fact they have no driver's license. It's a toss-up in my mind whether the Web is a good outlet for these guys, or the platform they've always dreamed of.

• The Slut -- The best thing about slut commenters ("What's wrong with having sex with your best friend's dad?") is that they don't know they're sluts & until 800 other posters happily point it out to them.

• The Boaster -- Few of us have ever driven a Lamborghini at 190 miles per hour. But this guy has. And can bench press 350 pounds. And dated Jessica Alba in high school. And &

• The Tough Guy -- Remember the kid who talked tough, then ran off when confronted? The Internet is filled with these clowns, all secure in the knowledge that they will never be called to account.

• The Pwn3R -- Most people are lucky to come up with a truly brilliant and devastating comeback a couple times in their lives. But the Web, thanks to its unique characteristics, has bred a population of posters who regularly drop verbal and visual bombs on unsuspecting recipients (like The Boaster and the Tough Guy) that are so devastating that the victims can only slink off and be grateful for their anonymity. I don't know who these men and women are, but I both worship and fear them.

• The Lecturer -- This is the buzzkill pedant who feels the need, even in a casual, light comments section, to post a 1,000 word exegesis on what everyone should be talking about. Hey, thanks pal!

• The Illiterate -- The blogosphere is still mostly a written medium -- so it's always bizarre to encounter (in about one out of 100 comments) that poster whose spelling and grammar are so awful that you hope that they are just some drunk pounding on a Blackberry.

• The Unacknowledged Expert -- A version of the lecturer, this is the undoubtedly insufficiently credentialed poster who feels the need to systematically point out how stupid everyone else is in order to prove how brilliant they are. I always picture these guys as the frustrated adult result of smart kids who didn't listen to their high school guidance counselors.

• The Mystery Genius -- These folks are just the opposite of unacknowledged experts. Whoever they are, they post comments that are so shockingly clever or brilliant that you are left wondering who they are: Slumming Nobel Laureates? Bored nobility? The first glimpse of the Internet gaining consciousness?

• The Confesser -- You're going along, casually reading some comment stream & and suddenly you are taken up short by a poster who, for some unknown reason, feels compelled to make some stunning confession -- "and that's why I buried the drifter in my crawl space" -- and then disappears. These are some of the most disturbing comments on the Web.

• The Tomboy -- Every geek's dream girl. These women show up on sites frequented mostly by young men and instead of professing shock at the proceedings, actually raise the stakes: "Well, I happen to like playing World of Warcraft all weekend in my underwear and only eating Doritos and Top Ramen &"

• The Handyman -- This poster is basically dad in disguise. Someone mentions a mechanical or computer problem as an aside, and this poster instantly has the solution -- the wrong jets in your carburetor, a poor ground on your toaster, insufficient cache memory. Whatever it is, they've got the answer.

• The Alien -- This is a poster from another country who has no context for what every commenter is talking about, and so asserts his or her own cultural solution: "Why this complain about wife? Sell gotes and buy more wifes!"

• The Martian -- Finally, these are the commenters whose combination of pretzel logic, conspiratorial tone and downright weirdness -- "Well, we all know the pope is behind that big lake of fire at the South Pole, don't we?" -- reminds you that the world is an even scarier place than we imagine, and makes you wonder if this writing for the Internet gig is such a good idea after all.

We could all agree that Jeff Goldstein exists in the 'The Pwn3R' category (I'd add Iowahawk, but I haven't seen him in any comment forums). Happyfeet is PW's resident 'The Mystery Genius'. The angry PW troll 'thor' fists the lower percentiles of 'The Pretender', 'The Boaster' and 'The Tough Guy' (thor needs his own category: 'The Semi-Literate, Drunken, Bedlamitten, Destroyer of Threads'. or something like that).

While the naming of Clinton appears to have momentarily calmed jittery financial markets, it sparked ripples of disapproval at liberal websites like Huffington Post and DailyKos. The progressive blogosphere was an early key source of support for Mr. Obama's candidacy, but a steady stream of Clinton-era appointees since the election has left some charging that he had betrayed his campaign promises to bring them to Washington as part of a sweeping culture of change -- a charge that Mr. Obama vehemently accepted.

"Oh, for crissakes. Are you kidding me? Are you friggin' kidding me?" asked Obama. "Of course I betrayed those goddamned idiots. Have any of you actually spent five minutes with them? I have, unfortunately. Nothing personal, but I wouldn't trust these internet windowlickers with a plastic spork from Taco Bell, let alone a freaking $3 trillion dollar budget global superpower. Look, I may be naive, but I'm not stupid. And if Kose or Koz or whatever the fuck his name is thinks for one second I give a rat's ass about who he wants in charge of the Treasury Department, he's even stupider than he looks."

Cuts to the chase. KaOS and der Huffinsky can rave all they want to; reality is that this country doesn't need a dose of far lefty blogthink right now.

It's now Obama's turn to realize that his vaporous 'CHANGE' was something he can throw out the freakin' window. After just a couple CIA briefings and a slap or two from grim advisers who are obviously telling Obonga that "Play time is over; put away your platitudes and your stupid grin and realize that you must now quit pretending to be a 'Messiah' and actually get out there in the minefield and lead this damned country, or you will forever be the man linked to the fall of America."

With Bill Clinton back in the driver's seat, at least we're assured that nubile White House interns will deliver pizzas ( hand-tossed?) at all hours of the day, while Hillary is overseas solving the Joooooooo! problem. Aspirin factories, beware.

Sarah Palin is getting a hell of a workover by the MSM and the hateful left. Although the left invented and espouses identity politics, any of those 'beliefs' can easily be thrown aside for the greater 'good' of securing a victory at all costs. They, the pundits and bloggers for the left, supported and unquestioned by the MSM, feel that damaging a 17-year-old for their cause is perfectly OK.

For BHO, a baby is a punishment; Sarah Palin calls any new life a blessing. How easy it would've been for Bristol to slip away and, 30 minutes later, be not-pregnant. That would've been the easy choice; the choice of low-character and no-morals. A Democrat's 'choice' is the choice of death; Bristol's choice, the choice for a new life. There's your HOPE, Obama, soon to be a squalling infant, a bright spot destined to go forward to no telling what sort of destiny. Certainly not a red spot in a stainless steel pan.

The fierceness of the left's attacks on Sarah Palin is simply the guilt they harbor for their own bad choices.

It's been out all day; the web is chock full of bloggers who've begun the dissection. I stopped reading other blogs so I can do my own analysis.

Six pages of PDF transcript. I've read every word. Osama: "People of America....lend me your ears." Then the threats begin.... "repercussions" for the war, as he puts it.

He brags on the 19 young men who 'changed the direction [of America's] compass" on 9/11. He's bragging on the cost of the war, the loss of prestige, and the overlapping interests of 'neoconservatives' and major corporations (you can almost hear the KOS kids crying 'Halliburton! Cheny! Rumsfield! Bush!) Osama is a KOS kiddie, folks, the one radical parrots the other.

Osama wanted the UN to take over ("expanded jurisdiction") in Iraq. That means he's worried about the new surge. No one fears the UN, unless the US is front and center. The UN forces are ineffective at best.

Osama bashes Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheny, and Richard Perle (who made the Osama-Saddam connection, first, 5 days after 9/11) by name. Osama then 'refutes' Pearl's contention that the war was justified or Americans would face a 'holocaust', by saying that holocaust is 'our culture'.

"In fact, burning living beings is forbidden in our religion, even if they be small like the ant, so what of man?!"

Well, here he's consigned himself to Allah's hell by his own words: what does he thing was burning on 9/11? Of course radical Islam kills innocent people by burning! That's their modus operandi, to kill in terroristic blasts that usually burn their victims to death. "Religion of Peace" indeed! If Islam were a true 'religion of peace', then true Islamicists would be searching out OBL to bring him to justice, for his own crimes of distorting and perverting their religion. Or course, don't wait for that to happen. Islam, as a religion, is easily subverted to a religion of death and hatred, and terrorism, and must be 'reformed' to coexist in a modern world.

More threats:

Tell me that's not code for an attack! This sorry spectacle of bin Laden, a hidden 'warrior' (who can't show his face, his true face, because more than likely he's dead, and that video is a well-crafted exercise by jihadi hackers, no matter what validation we hear from the Pentagon...) who is nothing more than a scarecrow erected by some rapidly-diminishing soon-to-be-neutralized remnants. Just a straw man, Osama.

Then, Straw-man Osama takes a few paragraphs to bash the Democrats for not getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan. He's better at driving Democrats than Howard Dean! More mean-spirited than Moulitas! Straw-man even calls Bush a liar (haven't we heard that phrase repeated a few times, by the leftists in this country?)

Straw-man Osama is a Kennedy Truther, blaming American Corporations who wanted the Vietnam War to prosper for killing President Kennedy. Vietnam is a popular topic these days, with the Democrats crying 'quagmire' every few minutes and unearthing forgotten Vietnamese 'similarities' (except for the ones that point out the Democrat's retreat and withdrawal, perpetual surrender monkeys that they are) and Straw-man Osama follows their lead.

Straw-man Osama then suggests we dump the Representative Democracy we enjoy, give up Capitalism, throw out the major corporations, and I guess all get in a pile and live life happily thereafter, bereft of any technology and culture (except of course the Koran, a wonderful book that will take all of us away to daily prayers towards some black meteoric rock buried in a cave in Mecca, and don't forget to burkha your womenfolk, and stone and degrade them if they sass you, while you're on your knees praying)...then, Straw-man Osama channels Al Gore and global warming! I tell you, this guy is Lyndon Larouche, Ron Paul, and von Daniken wrapped up in one big sack of soiled prayer rug. Like Ron Paul at the Republican debate, Straw-man Osama almost approaches comedic, if not for his penchant for calling for our deaths.

After a half-hearted dissection of capitalism and our form of government (a system that's given the world the greatest social awakening we've ever seen, with the networking and technological advances; something the collective primitive religious throwbacks to the 6th century fear, as this technology and modernism will eventually result in Islam's reform or, if it refuses reform, it's eventual abandonment or destruction) he goes into his Allah Praise mode. Boring stuff, that.

But if we're not careful, and diligent, and purposeful in our struggles against Islamic Radicalism, jihadism and al Qaedism, then those facets of throwback will be the death of us all.

"I have also reached the conclusion that if I am doing what I am doing because I am an "attention whore" then I really need to be committed."

Cindy, everyone in America, especially a mother who's lost a son in combat, has to question, legitimally, 'why?' Was my child's sacrifice worth it? Is there somthing I can do to make a difference?

To carry said questioning to the level you did...estranging your remaining family members, your divorce, your embracing of Hugo Chavez and other "America Haters", your endless protests that did more to fuel the enemy's propoganda machine than to bring legitimate questions of the war's conduct to the nation...that seems to me to be a little off the wagon path.

By your own words "I have sacrificed a 29 year marriage and have traveled for extended periods of time away from Casey’s brother and sisters and my health has suffered and my hospital bills from last summer (when I almost died) are in collection because I have used all my energy trying to stop this country from slaughtering innocent human beings." Instead of your intended result "I have tried every since he died to make his sacrifice meaningful", you've demeaned Casey's service, his oath and his obvious desire (when he signed up) of wanting to serve his country, and linked his name and memory forever to your path, which turns out to be (at least temoporarily; history might see differently) an "Attention Whore".

Casey didn't deserve such a linkage. Bad mom.

Now, go home and try to rebuild your shattered family, before it's too late.
