Lost and Failed Tennessee Democrats gather for breakfast; Al Gore 'presiding'.
0 comments Posted by kotang at 7:35 PMHeh. Get a load of these sad-sack failures...
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, April 28, 2011 CONTACT: Adam Nickas (lll) lll-llll, adam@tngop.orgLOSING TENNESSEE DEMOCRATS TO HOLD UNITY EVENTLED BY AL GORENEW RADIO AD POINTS OUT THAT FAILED POLICIES OF BARACK OBAMA HAVE TENNESSEE DEMOCRATS UNIFIED
NASHVILLE, TN – On Friday, Tennessee Democrats, led by former Vice President and failed presidential candidate Al Gore, will hold a “Unity Breakfast” in Nashville. Headlining the event are former Congressman Bart Gordon, former Congressman Lincoln Davis, former Congressman John Tanner, former gubernatorial candidate Mike McWherter and former U.S. Senate candidate Bob Tuke.
Due to the failed policies of Democrats and Barack Obama, Gordon and Tanner chose not to run for re-election last year after it became obvious that they would be rejected by voters in their districts. Davis was overwhelmingly defeated in the 4th Congressional district by Dr. Scott DesJarlais. McWherter lost his bid for Governor against Bill Haslam and Tuke was only able to win one county in his bid for U.S. Senate against Senator Lamar Alexander.
“This so-called Unity Breakfast might be the largest gathering of failed Democrat politicians in one place ever in Tennessee. Besides their losing campaigns, the one thing they can unify around is the disastrous policies of Democrats and President Obama,” said Chris Devaney, Chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party.
Last year, Democrats lost elections across Tennessee, resulting in Republicans gaining a 7-2 majority in Tennessee’s Congressional delegation, plus large majorities in the Tennessee General Assembly and a landslide victory for Governor Bill Haslam.
“Democrats should abandon Barack Obama and his liberal progressive policies that are wrecking our country, or face even worse defeats than they had this past election in Tennessee. The problem is their party is out of fresh ideas and it seems the only fresh thing this breakfast meeting will offer is the orange juice,” said Devaney.

Tennessee Citizen Action starring Mary Mancini: Just another left-wing political advocacy group with ties to Voter Fraud.

Mary Mancini |
Gov. Bill Haslam’s “Tennessee Civil Justice Act of 2011” should be renamed the “Miscarriage of Justice Act of 2011.” Since 1977, the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act has protected Tennesseans and their families from fraudulent and abusive business practices. But now, because the country has entered into an era of blaming the hardworking people of Main Street for the economic fiasco caused by the fraudulent business practices of the large corporations and unregulated traders of Wall Street, dismantling it seems to have become a priority. Tennessee Citizen Action maintains that depleting the strength of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act is yet one more way of placing undeserved blame for our state’s economic stagnation on hardworking Tennesseans.Haslam's act seeks to minimize the damage lawyers do to our economy, by limiting the awards to reasonable non-destructive levels. A good thing that has lawyers - and the Left - howling to the moon.
As if anyone didn't know it already, Tennessee Citizen Action is just another left-wing crackerjack organization set up to forward the agenda of dirty socialists in Tennessee.
Mary Mancini was a foul talk show host for the failed Liberadio (why is it that all these lefties can't seem to get people to listen to their crap on the radio? Remember Air America?). Before her time, in 2004, Tennessee Citizen (VOTER FRAUD!) Action hired a person to 'register the dead' to vote for Democrats in Davidson County...
State investigates Metro voter fraudMancini's twitter feed is filled with far-left pro-union and pro-Democrat bitternesses.

About 200 "citizens" who don't exist registered to vote in Davidson County for the Nov. 2 presidential election and now the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the person who submitted those forms on behalf of Tennessee Citizen Action (TCA).
The false cards are believed to be the work of a temporary employee hired by Tennessee Citizen Action, a consumer advocacy group working to push voter registration. Voter registration fraud is a felony.
TBI spokesperson Jennifer Johnson confirmed Monday that District Attorney General Torry Johnson asked her department last week to investigate the incident and that investigation is ongoing.
"Believe it or not, we work [voter fraud] cases all of the time," Johnson said. "Every single one is different but even since I have been here, in the last month and a half, we have worked other voter fraud cases in other towns.
"Sometimes it is as simple as somebody thinking that a ballot box has been contaminated to something more elaborate."
The TCA employee in question, whose name has not been released, was fired immediately after Metro Election Commission staff members discovered the false cards. The person was being paid by the hour and not per registration.
So, anything she says or is paid to support must be read with the knowledge that she is NOT a friend of business of any sort; instead, her mindset puts her at odds with any but far-Left ideologies.

The South: Democrats are losing it. Bill Clinton, ironically: "YOU ARE BEING PLAYED"
0 comments Posted by kotang at 5:47 AMDemocrats’ Grip on the South Continues to Slip
JONESBORO, Ark. — The Southern white Democrat, long on the endangered list, is at risk of being pushed one step closer to extinction.
From Virginia to Florida and South Carolina to Texas, nearly two dozen Democratic seats are susceptible to a potential Republican surge in Congressional races on Election Day, leaving the party facing a situation where its only safe presence in the South is in urban and predominantly black districts.
[emboldenings mine -ed.]That's a clear indicator that LOOTER - MOOCHER politics is alive and well. The new Social Democrat's tactic of buying votes with Other People's Money is a well-established feature of their party; it's only still working well in a culture of mostly good people, the South, in areas where there's no pride in self, in the Democrat's carefully cultivated 'Cultures of Poverty'. They now reap their grim gardens for votes.
The NYT article features photos of Bill Clinton, who, amongst other less-than-impressive credentials, made a political career of pandering to the good-ole-boy Democrats in Arkansas, carefully concealing his liberal stances. He was dispatched back to Arkansas by Obama to try to keep a district that's been Democrat for decades.
The most eye-opening WTF? O! THE IRONY! line from Bill Clinton's speaking engagement in Jonesboro, to fellow Democrats...
Former President Bill Clinton, who spent his career navigating between his party’s liberal sensibilities and the far more centrist instincts of Democrats in his home region, visited the district last week, passing through Batesville and Paragould before arriving for a rally in Jonesboro. He warned voters, “You are being played,” and urged people to cast ballots with their economic self interest in mind. All but the most dense of Democrats can see exactly what's happening here: the consummate LOOTER playing to his MOOCHER base. "You are being played", indeed; Democrats who vote for this sort of pandering are easily plyed, susceptible to handouts and gimmee! tactics.
More Clinton...
“If it’s a referendum on Democrats against some imagined perfection, we’ll get whacked,” Mr. Clinton said in a brief interview. “If it’s a real, informed choice, we’ll do fine.”By 'real, informed choice' he means that if Democrats can convince people to put their own self-interest ahead of interest in the Republic's survival, they will continue to win. But good people realize that we didn't get here by giving away the contents of the Treasury to the lowest level of politician who then disburses it to ply the lowest level of voter. Now, this minute, we're printing monies we don't even own, borrowing from the Chinese, Japanese and Saudis to fund impossible-to-sustain entitlements promised to Democrat voters for their continued allegiance to the National Party.
Here's a chance to ding that Social Democrat arrangement, right here during our current voting cycle culminating November 2. I've already early-voted, voting against the Democrat candidates across the slate, including TN-6, 'Al Gore's Seat', since occupied by Bart Gordon, who has wisely abdicated and will now slink off to a cushy government job (or so he thinks). I held nose tightly and voted for Bill Haslam for Governor, who is a poor choice by Republicans in this state; Haslam having crawled between the sheets with New York City Mayor Bloomberg and doing the nassty gun control maneuvers. We'll have to keep a careful eye on that RINO Bill Haslam. It's not beyond him to seek a state Income Tax; if he'll bend over for Bloomberg he'll do whatever it takes when the going gets tough, and it will when Tennessee runs out of Obama's Stimulus money next year.
Listen to this bastard, Chad Causey (D), running for Congress in Arkansas...
“I wouldn’t have voted for the cap-and-trade bill, and I couldn’t have supported the health care bill,” Mr. Causey said. “The Constitution doesn’t say anything about Democrats and Republicans. It talks about representing constituents, regardless of who’s in control in Washington, and carry their voice. That’s what I’m going to do.”Chad Causey, like other Democrats across the nation, is running helter-skelter from the specter of National Party and Nancy Pelosi and TARP and ObamaCare, and Bill Clinton standing right there thumbs-up and grinning.
It's too late for these lying Democrats to run from their national party, from their finally unmasked identity. They must all lose, and lose big time, so's the Democrat party can reform, move away from it's far-left leanings; Democrats must stop living the Looter - Moocher Social Democrat mentality, and move back to where that once-proud party once commanded respect.
Democrats have to start punching their own hippies and neo-Marxists.
That's a long way off; but in order to keep this Republic intact, somebody's got to push back.
The South is a great place to start.

Bill Haslam's Pilot Oil Guilty of Gouging Tennesseans in the wake of Hurricane Ike in 2008: Video
0 comments Posted by kotang at 4:09 AMWhy, you ask? Glad you did! Three good reasons:
- Ron Ramsey supports Arizona
- Ron Ramsey is the Tea Party candidate
- Ron Ramsey is strong in support of the 2nd Amendment. Zach Wamp and Bill Haslam? Not so much.
“Just when you think it unfathomable that Washington can get any crazier, they announce news highlighting just how out of touch they are with mainstream Americans.Twenty Tea Party organizations endorse Ron Ramsey...
“I’ve said before that I fully back Arizona’s efforts to enforce immigration law and secure their borders from the scourge of violence and crime that illegal immigration is causing in their state. In fact, when I am elected the next conservative Governor of Tennessee, I will enact a similar measure.
“The primary function of the federal government is to protect its citizens from foreign threats and if President Obama won’t act, then Governors across this nation will act to protect our citizens.
“We are a nation originally comprised of immigrants and while I support legal immigration, we must never forget that we are a nation of laws and they must be upheld. Those seeking to come to our country through legal avenues are always welcome in America and the state of Tennessee,” stated Ramsey.
TENNESSEE (July 5, 2010) – An association of twenty Tea Party organizations representing every corner of the state announced today that they are endorsing Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey for the next Governor of Tennessee.Gun Owners of America endorsed Ron Ramsey (the NRA is a bit slower on the draw)...
These groups arrived at their decisions following a thorough, three-month vetting process, which included research into the candidates’ backgrounds and voting records, completion of vetting questionnaires, and culminated in a vetting forum near Nashville on June 27th. Republican, Democratic, and Independent candidates were considered for their knowledge, commitment, and record on the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, fiscal responsibility, the role of the State and Federal Governments, and protection of the rights of individuals.
Gun Owners of America Supports Ron Ramsey for GovernorGood enough for me.
(Springfield, VA)—Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund today announced the endorsement of Ron Ramsey for Governor of Tennessee.
Ramsey, the current Lieutenant Governor, “Displays a constitutional and historically accurate understanding of the Second Amendment and the threats that face it today,” said GOA Vice-Chairman Tim Macy.
As a strong Tenth Amendment advocate, Ramsey believes that “We must have a Governor who can stand up to federal officials who want to erode our basic rights.”
In 1997, while serving in the state legislature, Ramsey pushed a concealed carry bill that improved the state’s right-to-carry. Ramsey’s bill, which was signed into law, streamlined the application process so honest, law-abiding citizens would not have to wait up to a year to receive their permit.
GOA-PVF noted, in a letter to supporters, that Ramsey’s strong support of the Constitution and the Second Amendment stands in stark contrast to other candidates in the race.
Bill Haslam, mayor of Knoxville since 2003, was a member of New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s gun-grabbing group Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
As a member of the group, Bill Haslam’s name was part of a 2007 letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi supporting a bill to prohibit the hundreds of thousands of people on the federal government’s so-called terror “watch list” from purchasing firearms.
Under the bill, the Attorney General is permitted to strip away the civil liberties of Americans without due process of law and without the accused even knowing the details of the suspicion.
This provision was part of a larger bill that would have federalized even more gang and gun crimes, which properly belong at the state and local levels.
In 2008, Haslam’s name again appeared on a letter to Reid and Pelosi seeking to close the non-existent and misleadingly named “gun show loophole.” This legislation would have led to the closing down of gun shows and opened the door to complete federal control of private firearms transactions.
“As soon as Haslam announced his bid for governor, he left Bloomberg’s anti-gun group with much haste. If that isn’t the clearest sign of pandering and lip service, then we don’t know what is,” said Macy.
Another opponent in the race, Representative Zach Wamp, was criticized by GOA for “joining forces with Sen. John McCain to put a stranglehold on free speech over his support for the so-called Campaign Finance Reform Act.
“When Republican opposition stymied the bill in 2001, the anti-freedom crowd circulated a ‘discharge petition’ to force it on to the House floor. Zach Wamp joined a handful of other Republican turncoats to help pass a law that made it illegal to publish certain political information within 30 days of a primary or 60 days of a general election.
“Of all the types of speech protected by the First Amendment, political speech was foremost on the minds of the Founding Fathers. Just this year, the U.S. Supreme Court recognized that fact and in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (a case in which Gun Owners Foundation participated) undid much of the damage caused by Wamp and his congressional allies.
“In this race for Governor, the choice for gun owners and sportsmen is clear. Ron Ramsey is a proven, effective and constitutionally minded leader who will stand up to all attacks on our right to keep and bear arms,” concluded Mr. Macy.
Good Luck and Following Seas, Ron Ramsey.

Illegals! You've got to January 1 to move to San Francisco or Los Angeles! Goodbye! So Long! Adios!

This is not as broad as Arizona's law. Unfortunately, you already have to be in jail to get asked if you should have been in jail already.
How in the world did a Democrat ever find enough cahoneys to sign this bill? Remarkable. Bredesen must not have any interest in running for anything political for a few more years. Which is fine with me; he's done things that deserve my ire, including vetoing the concealed carry in nice restaurants bill two years running. And digging that giant pothole under the Governor's mansion, the 'Party Bunker', for to woo political donors for years to come. A shame it didn't flood to ruin.
Of course, this measure brought anger from the usual leftards: the ACLU, who postured thusly:
The bill was opposed by immigrant groups and the Tennessee chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. ACLU-Tennessee Executive Director Hedy Weinberg urged the governor to veto the legislation, calling it “un-American.”Ya stupid lying bitch, Hedy Weinberg, this 'profiling' occurs in a jail. Which last time I looked is rightly a 'police state'. These people are criminals, in jail, and if they are illegal immigrants, they deserve to be sent home. To San Francisco. Or Los Angeles. Anywhere in California, which I find to be a hopeless, useless Leftist state that I'll be happy to help any good people left there get away from, with a donation of some nice suitcases.
In a letter, she charged the bill “effectively creates a police state” and also “invites disparate treatment of minority groups, and encourages racial profiling” — assertions rejected by the measure’s proponents

There must be a good reason for a man who was badgered enough by the people he claimed to represent to vote AGAINST this atrocity to change his vote from NO to YES on ObamaCare, no? Bart Gordon was hounded and badgered enough to walk away from his easy and lucrative and previously unassailable House seat; now he's set to cash in for his health care vote to meet the of the needs of the ever-crooked Obama Administration.
From Dan Riehl, who's helping keep better track of Bart Gordon's skulduggery than Bart and Obama would like...
Just a note on Instapundit's link to Moe Lane, pointing out Gordon's Coburn problem, assuming he has any designs on going to NASA. What makes it an ever bigger problem for Gordon is how the rules have changed.
Five years ago he would have experienced grief, but ultimately Hill comity would likely win out and he'd slip by with some bruising. Coburn's tough, but he's reasonable and people can disagree.
With politics playing out in real time under an Internet-powered microscope, a huge number of Americans angry over HCR combined with Coburn's especially angry base, there just isn't room for what was once the status quo.Because if Bart Gordon thinks he can sell out, take a cushy job as a NASA Administrator and wing his constituents a flappy bird, well, that'll be a prelaunch no-go.
More likely he'll hook up with Al Gore (whose seat he's occupied ever since Big Al left it oh so many years ago) and become, oh, a "Global Warming Expert". Doesn't take much; Big Al did it with a prayer and a Divinity degree, and a few dollars investment in cheap book paper. To be forever mistaken for the Unabomber; such is Al Gore's legacy.
No, Bart, there's no easy legacy job at NASA in your future. You turned your back on your friends. We'll have to watch you very closely. Maybe you'll get to play with a nice model rocket out back.
Shame on you, BartFish Gordon.

Tennessee Hospitality fires Walt Baker. No word on whether or not they will denounce Dan Rather.

Related: get ready to pay a Tennessee Tax on your free coffee and bagels at the hostel of your choosing. Tennessee Hospitality will denounce that, as soon as they hire a new CEO.

Another Tennessee E-Mail Scandal: Walt Baker does something dumb, dumb, dumb.
0 comments Posted by kotang at 6:43 PMNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Walt Baker spent Saturday apologizing for an e-mail he sent to a few close friends, including a legislative aide, the president of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, and members of the press. That image is all over the internet; it took this long for Walt Baker is come across it? And he must've been drinking or stoned, to not think twice before hitting the SEND key.
"I am sorry for my actions. I am sorry for the offensive contents of the email," Baker said. "I can only hope those that know me can find it in their hearts to forgive me."
The e-mail starts off saying, "I don't care who you are, ... this is funny." It then compares first lady Michelle Obama to Tarzan's sidekick Cheetah, a chimpanzee. At the bottom of the e-mail is a picture of Michelle Obama in an awkward moment with her lips pursed. Next to it is a picture of a picture of a chimpanzee with a similar expression.
As the CEO of the Tennessee Hospitality Association and a representative of the state's hotels and restaurants, Baker is trying to make amends.
"I'm disappointed in myself," he said.
But many feel the damage is already done.
"Who wants to come to a state where people think like that? This is far reaching and it's damaging," said District 3 Metro Council Member Walter Hunt.
Hunt is outraged by the e-mail, and can't believe Tennessee is in a negative light again over email.
"How can somebody be so stupid after it happened twice before," he asked.
Dunno. We live in times when a 6-year-old kid can make a gun with his hand and get thrown out of public school; how can a well-positioned adult ever expect to get away with such a monstrous no-no?

Bart Gordon on HIGH ALERT after Nov. 3 Election. Lou Ann Zelenik gets my endorsement!
0 comments Posted by kotang at 6:27 AMRep. Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.)Follow Lou Ann Zelenik on Twitter @louannzelenik and at Facebook. More on Lou Ann Zelenik, compiled by the dismal Murfreesboro Post prior to her 2008 State Representative run...
Gordon’s one of a growing list of Democratic lawmakers who are likely to have a serious challenge for the first time in a long time in 2010. Though Sen. John McCain won his district with 62 percent of the vote in the 2008 presidential race, Gordon, the chairman of the House Science and Technology Committee, voted with Democrats on “party unity” votes 90 percent of the time in the previous Congress, according to CQ.
Lou Ann Zelenik, who just resigned her post as a county party chairwoman, is vying for the right to face Gordon next November. Gordon told POLITICO that the results in Virginia and New Jersey could have a chilling effect on Democratic politics, including the health care legislation working its way through Congress.
“It definitely slows down the Democratic momentum,” Gordon said.
Zelenik, 53, retired last year as a founding partner in L & N Construction Company. She is an Engineering graduate from Vanderbilt University. She currently serves as a member of the Rutherford County Planning Commission and as Vice-Chair of the Rutherford County Republican Party.Oh. The Murfreesboro Post is little more than worthless drivel, I seldom read it, but this time I'll give it a link.
In announcing her campaign, Zelenik cited her business experience, raising a child as a single parent and her “mainstream conservative” philosophy as qualities she brings to her efforts to represent the 48th district. “I understand what it means to struggle through hard economic times. I understand the challenges of meeting a payroll, and most of all, I know the importance of raising a child alone while sharing our mainstream conservative values.”
Zelenik cited several issues she sees as critical areas of concern. “Our next state representative must help clean up the culture of corruption personified by speaker Jimmy Naifeh. We need to also address the lack of enforcement against illegal immigration at both the state and federal levels.”
Zelenik continued, “During these difficult economic times, I believe government must control its own house, and limit its adverse impact on the budgets of hard working Tennesseeans. My successful business experience will help me be a positive force in doing just that.”
Lou Ann Zelenik called out Bart Gordon for hiding from the voters in August. Bart Gordon was fearful and dead set against having Town Hall meetings. He finally gave up a Town Hall meeting August 26 at MTSU (video, watch @ 17-minute mark for an old man who's known Bart Gordon since he was a child, calling out Bart on his actions), having been shamed by Lou Ann Zelenik and the Daily News Journal, but not because he wanted to. Mostly he cowers, cowers from questions on why he is so stuck to Nancy Pelosi's skirt tails, in opposition to the majority of his constituents.
Bart Gordon voted for Cap and Trade.
Bart Gordon voted for the Health Care reform known as "Obamacare".
Today, I read that some Liberal sorts are also digging in, wanting Bart Gordon to vote for ObamaCare: Silence Isn't Golden: Backlash At Bart Gordon (includes a link to some SEIU Union Thugs crying their eyes out, and some professional "Community Organizers" working to leverage Leftism - Socialism.

Sarah Palin is Not Blinking: She's Back with a WSJ OpEd skewering ObamaCare; and YES, she mentions DEATH PANELS!
0 comments Posted by kotang at 6:45 PMHere we go, another round in the battle: Sarah Palin vs. Barack Hussein Obama, right on the eave of his prime-time speech to Congress (how many of those, now?) to browbeat shell-shocked Senators and Representatives and revitalize his lagging socialist Health Care Plan...
Sweet.
Obama and the Bureaucratization of Health Care The president's proposals would give unelected officials life-and-death rationing powers.
By SARAH PALIN
Remember the last time Sarah mentioned 'death panels' the Left erupted in a frenzy of frothing hate; there's no fear in Sarah's eyes. She isn't the one who is shell-shocked...to see that, look in the eyes of the blue-dog Democrats (you listening , Bart Gordon?).
This excerpt... (emboldenings mine)
How can we ensure that those who need medical care receive it while also reducing health-care costs? The answers offered by Democrats in Washington all rest on one principle: that increased government involvement can solve the problem. I fundamentally disagree.Sarah then goes on to poo-pooh 'big government' fixes of anything, then cites the non-partisan CBO figures that disagree with the numbers the Obama Administration trotted out.
Then to the crux of the biscuit...
Ka-POW! Right in the kisser. Take that, Joker~!Now look at one way Mr. Obama wants to eliminate inefficiency and waste: He's asked Congress to create an Independent Medicare Advisory Council—an unelected, largely unaccountable group of experts charged with containing Medicare costs. In an interview with the New York Times in April, the president suggested that such a group, working outside of "normal political channels," should guide decisions regarding that "huge driver of cost . . . the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives . . . ."
Given such statements, is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned that the Democrats' proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their health care by—dare I say it—death panels? Establishment voices dismissed that phrase, but it rang true for many Americans. Working through "normal political channels," they made themselves heard, and as a result Congress will likely reject a wrong-headed proposal to authorize end-of-life counseling in this cost-cutting context. But the fact remains that the Democrats' proposals would still empower unelected bureaucrats to make decisions affecting life or death health-care matters. Such government overreaching is what we've come to expect from this administration.
Not to be caught without some 'alternative' proposals, Sarah Palin brings out some of the same Republican proposals that haven't gained any attraction with Obama's one-option party, including my favorite, Tort Reform, and others including letting Insurance companies operate across state lines, just like the banks do...can you remember the times when banks were wholly owned inside and controlled by the various states? Ronald Reagan signed the Interstate Banking Act in the early '80's and allowed cross-state-line bank ownership for the first time in American history. Thus we have Bank of America, U.S. Bank, and a myriad of 'out-of-state' banks. But I do miss Third National Bank... )
Sarah Palin's timing is perfect. Another chip thrown in the gears of Obama's machine-operated political disaster. Just when we needed it.
Thank you, Sarah Palin!

Bart Gordon Will NOT Conduct Public Townhall Meetings. Instead, we'll have STEALTH CARE Meetings!
0 comments Posted by kotang at 12:17 PMBart Gordon is not the only Democrat representative to dodge his constituents...Sign Up For My Telephone Town Hall
On August 21, I will be holding two telephone town hall events for residents of Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District. These telephone-based public forums will allow you and other residents in the Sixth District to communicate directly with me about health care, veterans’ issues, the economy and other important issues facing Tennessee and the country. [Oh, you cheap bastiche. Running away from your votes on Cap and Trade, running to Pelosi's waiting arms; you are NOT a man. You are a wussy. -ed]
Telephone town halls do not require participants to travel – they only require a telephone. This format will allow more people across the 15 counties I represent to share their concerns and listen to the discussion. [Telephone town hall meetings protect your sorry butt from the angry responses you so richly deserve. You KNOW there are people out here who once supported you, who believed you were a centrist, but now know you are simply a Party Man...enslaved to a Party that's far, far left of what you are supposed to represent. -ed.]
Participation is toll free and easy. Please fill out the form below to register for the telephone town hall in which you would like to participate.
On August 21, shortly before the start of the town hall you for which you signed up, you will receive an invitation phone call, which will provide you with simple instructions about how to listen, ask questions, and leave messages. [You can't stand to see the faces of the people you represent, can you, Bart? Look people in the eyes, you can't do that anymore, can you? You only want to hear what you want to hear; your mind is made up, you are in the pocket of this far-left Administration. -ed.]
Please do not forget to include your area code when providing your phone number. Also, if possible, I encourage you not to use a cell phone number because the invitation phone calls often don't work as well with cell phones as they do with landline telephones.
All fields with a blue asterisk (*) are required.
Democrat CongressMasters are now ducking their own constituents by holding stealth care meetings. Pickle-puss Harry Reid refuses to hold any townhall meeting. He’ll be lecturing to a few handpicked syphocants by phone. These errant 'Representatives' are now out on a break, ostensibly at home to greet their supporters. They are seeing a backlash to what's happening to this nation, a backlash that's justified. While I've argued that we should maintain restraint, I also know we have to keep up the pressure on these elected 'representatives', most of whom seem to think it's their right to be in Public Office forever, and not answer for their votes. Bart Gordon is not a center Democrat; he is an Al Gore-toy and he is in the vanguard of the far-left Democrats and he is now following the lead of Nancy Pelosi.
...
Yes, Jesse, when John Dingell deliberately lies to his own constituents at a townhall, they should not get upset. No, they should recognize their CongressMaster is only looking out for them. They should have fallen to their knees with gladful sounds and thanked the good Master for knowing what’s best for them and how they should order their lives, right down to the food they eat and the lightbulbs they use. Those hoi polloi should know their place. Just because Congress is exempting itself (and unions like the SEIU who beat up Ken Gladney - a person of no interest to Leftists seeing he’s an inauthentic black man), they have no right to be resentful of supporting CongressMasters of having first class healthcare at hoi polloi’s expense. They should be happy with being dumped into a system that will be more expensive, less responsive and rationed for the very young and the very old ala Canada and Britain. I mean, Medicare and Medicaid are broken so rather than fix those programs lets just expand them to the whole country! What could go wrong?
Even though I voted for this guy (because the NRA said he was rated "A") I can no longer support Bart Gordon.
Is it 2010 yet?

Lamar Alexander sides with Democrats on McCain's Amendment to strip 8500 earmarks from the Omnibus Budget Bill
0 comments Posted by kotang at 6:23 AMContact information for Lamar Alexander:McCain Loses Fight Over Earmarks
The Senate just defeated an amendment, 63 to 32, by Senator John McCain that would have maintained federal agency spending at last year’s levels and deprived lawmakers of nearly 9,000 in earmarks.
Mr. McCain, Republican of Arizona and a longtime foe of pet projects tucked into spending bills, has been bashing the bill under consideration — a $410 billion omnibus spending proposal — that would finance governmental spending through Sept. 30 of this year. The amendment that was just rejected would have jettisoned the omnibus bill and frozen spending levels.
...
Nine Republicans voted with Democrats against Mr. McCain’s amendment: Senators Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Robert Bennett of Utah, Christopher Bond of Missouri, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Richard Shelby of Alabama, Olympia Snowe of Maine and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania.

Let him know we don't appreciate dirty socialists. Especially if they have an "R" next to their names.
Democrats, well, that's expected.

Tennessee Republicans ousted their Republican in name only, House Speaker Kent Williams from the party Monday, giving up their first majority in 150 years as punishment for banding together with the 49 House Democrats to defeat the GOP-backed candidate. This, combined with another great story of principled GOP leadership today, may be a sign that conservatism is returning to the Republican party on the state level.
We can only hope.
And...Kyle-Anne Shiver writes on Murphy's Law and the Peter Principle; an excellent essay deconstructing our current President.

Kent Williams, and high-grade stupidity..welcome to Tennessee Politics
0 comments Posted by kotang at 7:34 PMName one good man or woman, recently or still in office here in Tennessee, who is worthy of deep respect.
The best and brightest moment in Tennessee politics since I came here happened when they dragged John Ford off the floor and put him in a cell. That beautiful Tennessee Waltz. For the feds, that was like shooting fish in a barrel.
Until we have more instances like that, I’ll keep ignoring these blunderheaded country bumpkins.
Andrew Jackson, then they broke the mold.
UPDATE
Here's an e-mail from Erick Ericson...
MOBILIZE NATIONALLY: Send Silly Putty to Kent WilliamsLet's do it.
We've had several missions for the RedState Army of Activists. You probably haven't noticed as we've primarily directed them to individual states.
This should be one for an individual state, but we need to take this nationwide and make it a national rebuke.
Meet Kent Williams. He is allegedly a Republican in Tennessee. The GOP took the State House in Tennessee and rallied to one of their own to be Speaker.
Williams had other plans. He made a deal with the Democrats, betrayed the Republicans, and got himself elected Speaker. He then put a Democrat in the number two spot.
On opening day of the legislature the outgoing Democrat Speaker of the House stood behind Williams whispering directions in his ears.
It's clear he's a weak mind and will be putty in the hands of the Democrats.
Here's the assignment:
Kent Williams' address is 126 S. Main Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
Go here and send Kent Williams some silly putty. Let's put in his hands a pretty accurate representation of what he is.

At least one crooked, corrupt, big-city-machine politico gets his what's deserved
0 comments Posted by kotang at 5:20 AMHarold Ford Jr.'s uncle, Tennessee State Rep John Ford (D, Memphis) gets locked away for 14 more years; the culmination of years of trials brought on by Operation Tennessee Waltz.
Winners: citizens of Tennessee, and everyone else who needs some schadenfreude at the expense of powerful crooks.
Losers: his seven kids who need his child support.
This deserves a nice quoting..
[U.S. Dist. Judge Todd J. Campbell] "The court knows this offense is very serious and public corruption of this magnitude is very serious."
A measly $800K.
Just think of the possibility of corruption trials for the U.S. House and Senate members who floated Fannie and Freddie for all those years.
The "Fannie Five"?

John Ford, Tennessee's most corrupt politician, will probably never leave prison alive.
0 comments Posted by kotang at 4:59 AM...unless or course there's some interference and intervention by some other politicians. Again.
(Because I couldn't find an appropriate prison shower scene, and that 'dropped soap' meme is so...gauche...)
Mr. Ford was sentenced to 66 months in prison in August 2007 for bribery charges; he started serving time in a Louisiana prison in April (after another State Senator (Cohen) intervened to keep him 'closer to home' and out of a Texas Federal Prison) (see what I mean by 'interference and intervention'?)
Just last Friday, July 19 2008,
From the Knoxnews article...
"Prosecutors said the decision shows government corruption will be vigorously pursued.[emboldenings mine] Huh? Controversial? Is that the new euphemism for "lying weasel scumbag dirtball crooked politician"? And if so, can a defense attorney hope for a dismissal because that word seems less threatening?
"This sends a clear message that public corruption will not be tolerated in this district," said Assistant U.S. Attorney David Rivera.
...
"Prosecutors told the jury that Ford had a duty to the people of Tennessee but chose instead to serve himself. Ford's attorney, however, asked jurors not to convict his client just because he may be controversial.
Nah, we the people got what we deserved: a conviction. And M. Ford is getting what he deserves as well. With or without dropped soap.
Canz we hav more Tennessee Waltz plz?

Jimmy Naifeh is back in the news...caught in a(nother) lie.
What, a career politician lies? Who knew?
This time he should've known better. It seems that Jimmy lied about having a concealed carry permit, while he was in the midst of killing legislation that favored gun owners and legal carry holders. And, the Tennessee GOP (surprisingly discovering that it's good to have teeth) called him on it.
Instapundit points to Michael Silence, who's collating the damage. Even Hard Right(!) Kleinheider has managed to find his way to correct thinking on this one (well, he does cover his ass and say 'fudge'. Gotta keep all his escape avenues open, no?)
I don't know if we'll have enough evidence to unseat this unpleasant scoundrel via impeachment, but surely we'll have enough ammunition to convince voters to send his scurrilous ass home for good. Next election: November 2008. You're Out the Door, Jimmy!

This guy is a piece of work. A Tennessee State Representative, DEMOCRAT, gets caught driving drunk (makes a complete fool of himself during the arrest), and again with his pants down, having an affair with a lobbyist. So what does he do? Cry and complain on the floor of the House, threatens the press (and 'those things called "blogs"'), with sanctions if we can't behave. From Kleinheider's new digs...
“The right to a free and open press though comes with a responsibility, and from my experience over the past year, that responsibility is not being lived up to,” Briley (D-Nashville) said from the main House podium. What a flaming anal pore!
“We used to talk about the politics of personal destruction. Well that’s no longer what’s going on. It’s the publishing of personal destruction, and we owe it to ourselves to do better than that. We owe it to the rest of our society to do better than that.”
….Briley said that government needs to be “as open as possible.”
“But the press needs to understand that if they’re not responsible with that information, that they’re not going to have access to it anymore,” Briley said.
This guy should never have been elected in the first place. A scion of Beverly Briley (Metro Nashville's first mayor), Rob must have thought that last name would shield him from scrutiny and give him more free rein than an 'ordinary' Rep should have.
He's gone, now, resigned.
Let's hope his political future stays as dim as his reasoning.

Yes, our esteemed Governor Bunker is forced to cut State jobs to save save teh budget. NTTAWWT, but I think he should have kept a lid on all State...expenditures, for both of his elected terms. It seems that the lid came off after that re-election; legacy-building was in the plans.
Now, the layoffs are scaring rank-and-file Democrats who want to slather more largess on the unfortunates who will soon be out of work.
So much for Phil Bredesen's (the uber-savvy BUSINESSMAN candidate!) legacy.
Let's hope this financial disaster keeps M. Bredesen from seeking future political office. Unless he's also lost the wisdom that this certain shame will bring, as he's lost all his judgment in matters of fiscal responsibility.
There's plenty of Democrats who can mismanage ever-bloating local, state and federal government budgets, but this Democrat came in credentialed and supposedly vetted, a 'fiscal conservative'. What happened, Gov?
Bunker envy?

Tennessee GOP slaps visiting Mrs. Baracky (PROUD for the First Time!) Obama
0 comments Posted by kotang at 5:07 AMMrs. PROUD Obama was in town last night for a fundraiser; the welcome mat was offered by the Tennessee GOP...
Of course, the crybaby Baracky fires back: 'Racists! HUSSEINISTS!!'
From a post at American Thinker titled "Broaching That Other Off-Limits Obama Topic"...
You may recall the furor in January over a pre-Nevada primary "robocall" [MP3] that dropped the full name of Barack Hussein Obama four times. Or the outcries the following month when Cincinnati radio personality Bill Cunningham spoke those same three words repeatedly at a local McCain town-hall meeting. And who can possibly forget the widespread media rush to assure the public of their hero's baptism when a photo of him clad in traditional Muslim garb surfaced on the web that same month?Well, that's fine for that sort of company, I suppose. But I'm PROUD of my non-compliance with Political Correctness, and I imagine there's a couple more who can get around without wearing Political Correctness blinders.
Not surprisingly then, shortly following the media and blogosphere-pressured condemnations by both Hillary and McCain, mention of Obama's middle name or Muslim heritage became de facto taboo amongst politically correct company.
Oh, and thanks to the Tennessee...did you say, GOP?
Who are these guys again? Tennessee has a GOP??
Who knew?
h/t Six Meat Buffet.
Oh. I just noticed this comment at American Thinker....
"Yes, but it's not the only question that needs to be addressed. Another is 'what would his foreign policy towards the Muslim world be'? You see, Islam is not the only part of his heritage, another is his Arabic composition. Obama is not a Negro. Obama is an Arab. His father's side of the family tree is exclusively Arabic, and that fact is signified by their names and the name of Senator Obama himself: Barack Hussein Obama. His first name is Muslim also. Not just the middle name. Real Kenyan Negros have Christian names. By giving his son a Muslim name, Obama's father has sent a signal: he may live among Kenyan Christians, but he is not one of them."
"Moreover, he is only 6.25% Negro. He's 50% Eurocaucasian (after his mother) and 43.75% Arabic. The federal law of the US says that to claim minority status, you must be at least 12.5% (1/8) of the race you claim to represent. Senator Obama is half the legal treshold. He could honestly say, 'My father was a Negro.' His father was a member of the last generation able to claim to represent the Negro race."Obama is guilty of lying to the Harvard Admissions Committee to get in; lying to Chicagoians to get elected to IL state senate; lying to IL citizens to get elected to the Senate; and lying to all Americans to get elected President (but luckily, he hasn't won yet).
"He is also guilty of lying in his book 'The Audacity Of Hope'."
...[emboldenings mine]
Nice.
