Intellectual property generated could lead to small business spin-offs.
Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $5,743,000 J. Percy Priest Greenway Funding will be used to continue authorized plans and specifications and keep the construction of additional portions of the Greenway on track. This portion will run Walter Hill Park to the Coleman Farm.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—Nashville District, Nashville, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $915,000 Computational Modeling of Drug-Resistant Bacteria Funding will continue to be used to find antibiotics to treat methicillin-resistant bacteria. This project was funded for FY10 by the Department of Energy Office of Science. The project will develop computational models to understand how deadly infectious bacteria become resistant to antibiotics. These techniques can provide pathways for discovery of new classes of powerful antibiotics and help find methods to restore the effectiveness of previously successful drugs. The evolution of antibiotic-resistant mutants among bacteria ('superbugs') that cannot be treated with currently available antibiotics is a persistent and growing threat to public health.
MTSU, Murfreesboro, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $395,532 Study of Groundwater and Biodiversity in Karst Landscapes
Funds will be used to carry out investigations of groundwater and biodiversity in association with Middle Tennessee State University to promote sustainable development in the karst landscapes of Middle Tennessee. Karst-related environmental problems are widespread in Tennessee and other parts of the Southeast. For example, sinkhole flooding periodically inundates parts of Murfreesboro, Cookeville, and many other Tennessee communities. Scientists working with the Tennessee Water Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), State of Tennessee, and Tennessee universities have discovered many solutions to karst-related problems, and this study would build upon that work in the wake of significant flooding in Middle Tennessee.
U.S. Geological Survey, Reston, VA (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $750,000 Stones River National Battlefield Property Acquisition Funds would be used to acquire critical, highly visible property in-holdings in the park's two main units, Nashville Pike Unit and McFadden Farm Unit. This will protect areas of the core battlefield that are currently inaccessible to the visiting public.
Stones River National Battlefield, Murfreesboro, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $400,000 Promotion of Physical Activity and Health in Youth
Funds will be used to continue expansion of MTSU's multimedia campaign to promote physical activity in children and adolescents, including expanding opportunities for children with disabilities to participate in sports and fitness programs. While the clinical endpoints of major health problems such as coronary heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and osteoporosis are usually manifested during adulthood, mounting evidence suggests that the genesis of these health conditions occurs early in life. Public health efforts aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles in children, therefore, can be viewed as a logical and cost-effective means of reducing the incidence of premature ill health and death.
MTSU, Murfreesboro, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $525,000 Upper Cumberland Institute for Rural Health Care Child and Family Health Studies Program
Funds will be used to study obesity in children residing in Tennessee's Upper Cumberland area, conduct training seminars aimed at reducing negative behaviors, and develop practical research projects to reduce child obesity rates. If the obesity rates in the U.S. population continue unabated, health care costs of dealing with this issue will further burden the delivery of medical services. Funds spent to curb childhood obesity will dramatically reduce long-term health care costs to obese adults, and will positively impact and influence quality of life issues.
Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $561,000 Developing the Biotechnology Workforce
Funds would be used to provide support for faculty to establish international biotechnology partnerships, fund internship stipends and supplies for graduate students and high school teachers, and develop biotechnology-related curriculum in the Molecular Bioscience Ph.D. program at MTSU. This project will help familiarize students with tools and equipment used in science, technology, engineering and math careers and demonstrate the real-world application of learned skills.
Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $6,200,000 MTSU STEM Education Center Funds will be used to purchase and install equipment to provide programmatic support for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programs at Middle Tennessee State niversity (MTSU). Once equipped, the space will house the STEM Center in a prominent campus location to provide state-of-the-art spaces for interdisciplinary STEM education activities, outreach to the regionalK-12 community, and to promote synergies between existing and future STEM education programs. The need for enhancements to STEM education programs has been identified as a significant national problem - potentially affecting our ability to remain in a leadership position in science and technology.
MTSU, Murfreesboro, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $2,500,000 Middle Tennessee Boulevard
Funds would be used to widen Middle Tennessee Boulevard from Main Street to Greenland Drive to five eleven-foot traffic lanes (including shared shoulders bicycle lanes on both sides). The project will correct geometric deficiencies while mitigating congestion, improving air quality and enhancing pedestrian safety.
City of Murfreesboro, Murfreesboro, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $1,888,000 Gateway Drive Extension

The Partnership for Healthy Homes will provide interventions, education, and training to address indoor air quality, prevent unintended injuries, lower medical costs, and encourage healthy and safe behaviors in the home. The project will impact at-risk families in Tennessee by reducing the prevalence of asthma; decreasing the incidence of unintended home injuries; and decreasing hospitalizations, emergency doctor visits, and lost school and work days due to asthma and unintended home injuries.
MTSU, Murfreesboro, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $485,000 Extending Effective Runway Length at General Aviation Airports
Funds will be used to construct and test engineered material arresting systems (EMAS) designed for general aviation airports. A test track will be designed and built in coordination with MTSU Aerospace program, Murfreesboro Airport and Smyrna Airport. Funds will also be used to develop the concrete mixtures formulated to handle loads from various aircraft, perform simulated crash testing of the materials, optimize EMAS based on test results, and carry out an economic analysis. The only EMAS approved by the FAA is costly and designed for large aircraft at commercial airports. This project will allow smaller airports to install EMAS, furthering economic growth in smaller communities.
MTSU, Murfreesboro, TN (Requested)

Rep. Bart Gordon (TN-6) requests $5,100,000 Stones River National Battlefield Auto Tour Road Expansion and Rehabilitation
Funds would be used to rehabilitate and expand auto tour road, waysides and trails and construct new park entry roads at the Stones' River National Battlefield. This infrastructure was built in 1961 and is in need of an upgrade. Project work will improve the overall visitor/interpretive experience by developing better visitor access to the park and better visitor access to the park and enhancing visitor circulation to key sites within the park.

Aren't we all glad this guy is gone? But damn, I wish he'd not 'retired' so soon; to see him voted out of office would've been priceless.

Like his predecessor who also 'represented' the TN6, Al Gore, Bart Gordon turned his back on his constituents when he supported the far-Left wing of the Democrat party. Especially heinous was his vote for ObamaCare. He was roundly jeered at his Town Hall post-vote.

Did he get 'paid off' for his votes? Will he go to work for NASA after the dust settles? Or, from looking at the earmarks list, for MTSU ?

None of these earmarks were 'paid out', as the Omnibus Spending Bill was torched before it could pass. Does that mean these 'earmarks' are completely dead, or will Bart Gordon try to find another bill to attach them to before he's finally departed public office?

We will closely watch Mr. Gordon's post-public service job search. Eyes wide open, of course, and always.

Best headline evah! I had to reproduce it here, for the savoring...

BEL AIR, Md. — The reception that Representative Frank Kratovil Jr., a Democrat, received here one night last week as he faced a small group of constituents was far more pleasant than his encounters during a Congressional recess last summer.

Then, he was hanged in effigy by protesters. This time, a round of applause was followed by a glass of chilled wine, a plate of crackers and crudités as he mingled with an invitation-only audience at the Point Breeze Credit Union, a vastly different scene than last year’s wide-open televised free-for-alls.
So, who hanged him in effigy, I wonder? He voted against ObamaCare, so likely Social Democrats did the deed. If the NYT doesn't say, then you know it's their friends they will protect.

But, to sit back and meet with invited guests, sipping wine and eating crudités? Seriously? This is what Marylanders elected and expect to represent them ?
The sentiment that fueled the rage during those Congressional forums is still alive in the electorate. But the opportunities for voters to openly express their displeasure, or angrily vent as video cameras roll, have been harder to come by in this election year.

If the time-honored tradition of the political meeting is not quite dead, it seems to be teetering closer to extinction. Of the 255 Democrats who make up the majority in the House, only a handful held town-hall-style forums as legislators spent last week at home in their districts.

It was no scheduling accident.

With images of overheated, finger-waving crowds still seared into their minds from the discontent of last August, many Democrats heeded the advice of party leaders and tried to avoid unscripted question-and-answer sessions. The recommendations were clear: hold events in controlled settings — a bank or credit union, for example — or tour local businesses or participate in community service projects.
I certainly didn't expect to see my 'Representative', the 'Blue Dog' Coward Bart Gordon (TN-6), who isn't running for re-election. He was likely promised a nice political job for his vote on ObamaCare; we'll be watching closely to see if he gets it. But Bart Gordon gave up representing the 6th District decades ago. What a loser. Good riddance.

Back to the NYT...
And to reach thousands of constituents at a time, without the worry of being snared in an angry confrontation with voters, more lawmakers are also taking part in a fast-growing trend: the telephone town meeting, where chances are remote that a testy exchange will wind up on YouTube.

For incumbents of both parties facing challenging re-election bids, few things receive more scrutiny than how, when and where they interact with voters. Many members of Congress err on the side of being visible, but not too visible, and make only a few public appearances while they are back in their districts.
For better or worse, these Reps are under the microscope. As they should be. We, the people, have to be heard or we will not be represented; in this charged political minefield, where every Rep might mean the difference between another Obama social redistribution plot and fiscal sanity (not that it much matters at this point), we have to fight for every seat. That means exposing these Representatives who, well, don't.

Oh, and this is worth pulling out from the innards of the NYT piece...
An examination of public schedules for dozens of members of Congress last week showed that more House Republicans held open meetings, including several in a series of forums called America Speaking Out, which is intended to help write the party’s agenda if it wins control of Congress in November.
That's right, Republicans are more honest and open than Democrats, are are much more willing to meet with their constituents.

Who knew?

Bart Gordon sold out his constituents for a job at NASA? Such is the scuttlebutt.

There must be a good reason for a man who was badgered enough by the people he claimed to represent to vote AGAINST this atrocity to change his vote from NO to YES on ObamaCare, no? Bart Gordon was hounded and badgered enough to walk away from his easy and lucrative and previously unassailable House seat; now he's set to cash in for his health care vote to meet the of the needs of the ever-crooked Obama Administration.

From Dan Riehl, who's helping keep better track of Bart Gordon's skulduggery than Bart and Obama would like...
Just a note on Instapundit's link to Moe Lane, pointing out Gordon's Coburn problem, assuming he has any designs on going to NASA. What makes it an ever bigger problem for Gordon is how the rules have changed.
Five years ago he would have experienced grief, but ultimately Hill comity would likely win out and he'd slip by with some bruising. Coburn's tough, but he's reasonable and people can disagree.
With politics playing out in real time under an Internet-powered microscope, a huge number of Americans angry over HCR combined with Coburn's especially angry base, there just isn't room for what was once the status quo.
Because if Bart Gordon thinks he can sell out, take a cushy job as a NASA Administrator and wing his constituents a flappy bird, well, that'll be a prelaunch no-go.

More likely he'll hook up with Al Gore (whose seat he's occupied ever since Big Al left it oh so many years ago) and become, oh, a "Global Warming Expert". Doesn't take much; Big Al did it with a prayer and a Divinity degree, and a few dollars investment in cheap book paper. To be forever mistaken for the Unabomber; such is Al Gore's legacy.

No, Bart, there's no easy legacy job at NASA in your future. You turned your back on your friends. We'll have to watch you very closely. Maybe you'll get to play with a nice model rocket out back.

Shame on you, BartFish Gordon.

Push that button. PLEASE!

PowerLine blogger John is agape at what's happening in NanLand...
The news out of Washington is agonizing, as the Dems slowly try to reach the number of votes they need in the House to take over the health care industries. Reports indicate that they are something like four or five votes short; the conventional wisdom is that they will get there, somehow. God only knows what they are promising (or threatening) to get those last votes. The Cornhusker Kickback will look like clean politics by the time they're done.
The voters hate it, as evidenced by Rasmussen's most recent polling.
CNN reports more Democrats are out against ObamaCare...
Reps. Ben Chandler of Kentucky, Luiz Gutierrez of Illinois, Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin of South Dakota and Heath Shuler of North Carolina say they will vote against their party's health care plan, which may be headed to a final vote late next week.

...

Proponents of the health care plan need 216 votes in order to pass the Senate plan. As of Friday, no Republicans said they would vote in favor of the bill, which would mean Democratic leaders must rely solely on votes from its own members. Democrats currently hold 253 House seats.

Of the 39 Democrats who voted against the House plan in November, 14 indicated they would vote against the Senate plan as written, 12 remained uncommitted, and 11 have not returned repeated calls from CNN. One member, Parker Griffith of Alabama, became a Republican in December. An additional member, Rep. Eric Massa of New York, resigned his seat on Monday.
I have no idea where my Rep Bart Gordon (D) stands on this. He voted against the first rendition of Health Care. He's dropped out of sight after getting his ass spanked at Town Hall meetings; dropped out of the re-election circus because he knew his time was up. Will he vote 'yes' for Pelosi and Obama, or will he remember his constituents and those troublesome Town Halls, and again vote AGAINST this monstrosity?

Donut-devouring O-Dub thinks Bart Gordon might swap votes this time. You better hope, at some point, O-Dub, that you have working health care. Those pies and cakes might come back to haunt. Go get a job or something. Fat ass.

Bart Gordon might not be running for re-election, but he has a legacy to think about.

Come on, Bart Gordon, man up, grow a pair, face off against Nancy Pelosi. You can do it, you blue dawg you! We promise we won't let Nancy hurt you anymores.

UPDATE

This photo, of a protest in Murfreesboro against Bart Gordon's Health Care wide stance.

Found with Twisearch, from rightwave's Twitter Pic posting (I resized and enhanced it, as is my wont).

So, Bart Gordon, do you have any idea what your vote FOR Obama Health Care will mean to you?

A vote of YES will stink on you like a 20-day-old dead albatross, and for the rest of your life.

Monday, December 14, 2009

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand: Bart Gordon's time in Tennessee's 6th District was up, whether he retired or not.

Excuse me whilst I revisit Cromwell...

"You have sat too long for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!"

Harrrumph. It's been a long wait. Good riddance, you Pelosi-supporting cap-and-trade-voting Democrat.

From The Hill...
Gordon's seat will vault to the top of the list of pickup opportunities. It went strongly -- 62-37 -- for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) last year. Gordon didn't face a GOP opponent, but an independent candidate took 26 percent of the vote against him.

Former Rutherford County GOP Chairwoman Lou Ann Zelenik and activist Dave Evans are already running on the GOP side. Zelenik, in particular, could provide a well-funded challenge to Tracy.

So, Jim Tracy or Lou Ann Zelenick? Jim Tracy has big-time experience; Lou Ann is one of us, a grassroots 'teabagger' who will fight for Conservative positions. Bill Hobbs doesn't much like Lou Ann Zelenick. That's OK; he's done some good things for the Tennessee GOP, but there is room for new bloods.

Unless Jim Tracy wows, I'll support Lou Ann Zelenick. At least throughout the primary.

Oh, and Jim's not all that bad. But, new blood. Fresh ideas. Clean slate. Throw the permanent politicos out. And all of that.

All politics are local; I feel encouraged that my Rep, Bart Gordon (D), voted against ObamaCare.

Only one single Republican no one's ever heard of voted for the bill...some loser from Louisiana, where there are many, many needy sorts who need and desire handouts [cough]Katrina[cough].

A list of Who voted against the bill.
Who voted for the Health Care Bill? Here are the House vote results on HR 3962. No Republican voted in favor except Rep Jospeh Cao of Louisiana as profiled on LALATE last night. 30 Democrats voted against it. 24 of the 39 were of the Blue Dog Coalition.

31 of 39 were from areas that voted McCain, not Obama, in the last election. And 14 of the 39 were freshmen. And of those 14 freshmen, they are from swing districts up at stake in 2010.
JHoward at Protein Wisdom linked Jerry Pournelle, one of my favorite authors, who wrote this before the bill passage late last night...
With Detroit a ruin and manufacturing industries on the ropes, small business is the only possible engine of recovery from what they don't call a Depression; so the Congress is going to add an 8% tax on employing people. We already have the longest period of increasing unemployment since the Great Depression; I presume we are going for a really big record setting period of increasing unemployment.

What incentives people have to invest and create new jobs in this environment is pretty murky now; with the health bill there will be fewer incentives to invest in new jobs in the US. The incentives are now to the job black market -- hire illegal immigrants who don't have to have health insurance -- or to export the job if that can possibly be done.

Meanwhile the credit index is way down: people aren't borrowing or lending, meaning investment is down. Moving money around in circles keeps Wall Street going, but next year the Bush tax cuts expire, meaning a new round of higher taxes to go with the new taxes of the health care and carbon taxes, and the new regulations. And with a trillion dollar deficit the incentive to add surtaxes is overwhelming, thus again confiscating money from the successful -- money that otherwise would have been invested. Perhaps the government can invest for us with a new TARP?

...

In other words: Have we seen the end of the good times? Tax rates go up, but government revenues keep going down. And down. Raising tax rates doesn't seem to make the government much more money. And unemployment goes up. And the beat goes on.

A new Great Depression is not inevitable, but each time there is another transfer of resources to the government, it becomes more likely. The trick to survival is to find niches where one can thrive or at least hang on in the midst of the downward spiral. Who is succeeding in today's Detroit? It would be worth studying those survivalists...

It's also worth considering vegetable gardens. I wish I were kidding.
The Democrat's "Greatest Social Engineering Program EVAH!" crows the NYT...
Handing President Obama a hard-fought victory, the House voted to approve a $1.1 trillion, 10-year plan that Democrats said could be their defining social policy achievement.

Well, we can say that any fallout is hanging on the Democrats (that one Republican vote, the loser from Louisiana, can't really count towards 'bipartisanship').

Now, for the Senate.

Prediction: Democrats will crow and celebrate this for awhile, then the bill won't pass the Senate, at least not with the House's options intact.

We'll see.

A nice e-mail from Obama's never-ending Organizing for America (can't he find a REAL job?) reminding of the House vote today.

I called Rep. Gordon's Washington number, and YES! he's voting against Obamacare.

Seems the blue dog got the message.

Friday, November 6, 2009

Yep, my buddy and local Congressional Representative Bart (never met an Al Gore - Nancy Pelosi proposal he couldn't gobble) Gordon is placed on Politico's "Top 10 Democrats on High Alert"...
Rep. Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.)
Gordon’s one of a growing list of Democratic lawmakers who are likely to have a serious challenge for the first time in a long time in 2010. Though Sen. John McCain won his district with 62 percent of the vote in the 2008 presidential race, Gordon, the chairman of the House Science and Technology Committee, voted with Democrats on “party unity” votes 90 percent of the time in the previous Congress, according to CQ.
Lou Ann Zelenik, who just resigned her post as a county party chairwoman, is vying for the right to face Gordon next November. Gordon told POLITICO that the results in Virginia and New Jersey could have a chilling effect on Democratic politics, including the health care legislation working its way through Congress.
“It definitely slows down the Democratic momentum,” Gordon said.
Follow Lou Ann Zelenik on Twitter @louannzelenik and at Facebook. More on Lou Ann Zelenik, compiled by the dismal Murfreesboro Post prior to her 2008 State Representative run...
Zelenik, 53, retired last year as a founding partner in L & N Construction Company. She is an Engineering graduate from Vanderbilt University. She currently serves as a member of the Rutherford County Planning Commission and as Vice-Chair of the Rutherford County Republican Party.

In announcing her campaign, Zelenik cited her business experience, raising a child as a single parent and her “mainstream conservative” philosophy as qualities she brings to her efforts to represent the 48th district. “I understand what it means to struggle through hard economic times. I understand the challenges of meeting a payroll, and most of all, I know the importance of raising a child alone while sharing our mainstream conservative values.”

Zelenik cited several issues she sees as critical areas of concern. “Our next state representative must help clean up the culture of corruption personified by speaker Jimmy Naifeh. We need to also address the lack of enforcement against illegal immigration at both the state and federal levels.”

Zelenik continued, “During these difficult economic times, I believe government must control its own house, and limit its adverse impact on the budgets of hard working Tennesseeans. My successful business experience will help me be a positive force in doing just that.”

Oh. The Murfreesboro Post is little more than worthless drivel, I seldom read it, but this time I'll give it a link.

Lou Ann Zelenik called out Bart Gordon for hiding from the voters in August. Bart Gordon was fearful and dead set against having Town Hall meetings. He finally gave up a Town Hall meeting August 26 at MTSU (video, watch @ 17-minute mark for an old man who's known Bart Gordon since he was a child, calling out Bart on his actions), having been shamed by Lou Ann Zelenik and the Daily News Journal, but not because he wanted to. Mostly he cowers, cowers from questions on why he is so stuck to Nancy Pelosi's skirt tails, in opposition to the majority of his constituents.

Bart Gordon voted for Cap and Trade.

Bart Gordon voted for the Health Care reform known as "Obamacare".

Today, I read that some Liberal sorts are also digging in, wanting Bart Gordon to vote for ObamaCare: Silence Isn't Golden: Backlash At Bart Gordon (includes a link to some SEIU Union Thugs crying their eyes out, and some professional "Community Organizers" working to leverage Leftism - Socialism.

OK, here's the video. See also @ 38:00, for the booing!

Here we go, another round in the battle: Sarah Palin vs. Barack Hussein Obama, right on the eave of his prime-time speech to Congress (how many of those, now?) to browbeat shell-shocked Senators and Representatives and revitalize his lagging socialist Health Care Plan...

Obama and the Bureaucratization of Health Care

The president's proposals would give unelected officials life-and-death rationing powers.

Sweet.

Remember the last time Sarah mentioned 'death panels' the Left erupted in a frenzy of frothing hate; there's no fear in Sarah's eyes. She isn't the one who is shell-shocked...to see that, look in the eyes of the blue-dog Democrats (you listening , Bart Gordon?).

This excerpt... (emboldenings mine)
How can we ensure that those who need medical care receive it while also reducing health-care costs? The answers offered by Democrats in Washington all rest on one principle: that increased government involvement can solve the problem. I fundamentally disagree.
Sarah then goes on to poo-pooh 'big government' fixes of anything, then cites the non-partisan CBO figures that disagree with the numbers the Obama Administration trotted out.

Then to the crux of the biscuit...

Now look at one way Mr. Obama wants to eliminate inefficiency and waste: He's asked Congress to create an Independent Medicare Advisory Council—an unelected, largely unaccountable group of experts charged with containing Medicare costs. In an interview with the New York Times in April, the president suggested that such a group, working outside of "normal political channels," should guide decisions regarding that "huge driver of cost . . . the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives . . . ."

Given such statements, is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned that the Democrats' proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their health care by—dare I say it—death panels? Establishment voices dismissed that phrase, but it rang true for many Americans. Working through "normal political channels," they made themselves heard, and as a result Congress will likely reject a wrong-headed proposal to authorize end-of-life counseling in this cost-cutting context. But the fact remains that the Democrats' proposals would still empower unelected bureaucrats to make decisions affecting life or death health-care matters. Such government overreaching is what we've come to expect from this administration.

Ka-POW! Right in the kisser. Take that, Joker~!

Not to be caught without some 'alternative' proposals, Sarah Palin brings out some of the same Republican proposals that haven't gained any attraction with Obama's one-option party, including my favorite, Tort Reform, and others including letting Insurance companies operate across state lines, just like the banks do...can you remember the times when banks were wholly owned inside and controlled by the various states? Ronald Reagan signed the Interstate Banking Act in the early '80's and allowed cross-state-line bank ownership for the first time in American history. Thus we have Bank of America, U.S. Bank, and a myriad of 'out-of-state' banks. But I do miss Third National Bank... )

Sarah Palin's timing is perfect. Another chip thrown in the gears of Obama's machine-operated political disaster. Just when we needed it.

Thank you, Sarah Palin!

Another Democrat Representative will dodge his constituents, opting to conduct "Telephone Town Hall" meetings, complete with "invitation only phone calls" where one can "listen, ask questions, and leave messages"...

Sign Up For My Telephone Town Hall

On August 21, I will be holding two telephone town hall events for residents of Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District. These telephone-based public forums will allow you and other residents in the Sixth District to communicate directly with me about health care, veterans’ issues, the economy and other important issues facing Tennessee and the country. [Oh, you cheap bastiche. Running away from your votes on Cap and Trade, running to Pelosi's waiting arms; you are NOT a man. You are a wussy. -ed]

Telephone town halls do not require participants to travel – they only require a telephone. This format will allow more people across the 15 counties I represent to share their concerns and listen to the discussion. [Telephone town hall meetings protect your sorry butt from the angry responses you so richly deserve. You KNOW there are people out here who once supported you, who believed you were a centrist, but now know you are simply a Party Man...enslaved to a Party that's far, far left of what you are supposed to represent. -ed.]

Participation is toll free and easy. Please fill out the form below to register for the telephone town hall in which you would like to participate.

On August 21, shortly before the start of the town hall you for which you signed up, you will receive an invitation phone call, which will provide you with simple instructions about how to listen, ask questions, and leave messages. [You can't stand to see the faces of the people you represent, can you, Bart? Look people in the eyes, you can't do that anymore, can you? You only want to hear what you want to hear; your mind is made up, you are in the pocket of this far-left Administration. -ed.]

Please do not forget to include your area code when providing your phone number. Also, if possible, I encourage you not to use a cell phone number because the invitation phone calls often don't work as well with cell phones as they do with landline telephones.

All fields with a blue asterisk (*) are required.
Bart Gordon is not the only Democrat representative to dodge his constituents...
Democrat CongressMasters are now ducking their own constituents by holding stealth care meetings. Pickle-puss Harry Reid refuses to hold any townhall meeting. He’ll be lecturing to a few handpicked syphocants by phone.
...
Yes, Jesse, when John Dingell deliberately lies to his own constituents at a townhall, they should not get upset. No, they should recognize their CongressMaster is only looking out for them. They should have fallen to their knees with gladful sounds and thanked the good Master for knowing what’s best for them and how they should order their lives, right down to the food they eat and the lightbulbs they use. Those hoi polloi should know their place. Just because Congress is exempting itself (and unions like the SEIU who beat up Ken Gladney - a person of no interest to Leftists seeing he’s an inauthentic black man), they have no right to be resentful of supporting CongressMasters of having first class healthcare at hoi polloi’s expense. They should be happy with being dumped into a system that will be more expensive, less responsive and rationed for the very young and the very old ala Canada and Britain. I mean, Medicare and Medicaid are broken so rather than fix those programs lets just expand them to the whole country! What could go wrong?
These errant 'Representatives' are now out on a break, ostensibly at home to greet their supporters. They are seeing a backlash to what's happening to this nation, a backlash that's justified. While I've argued that we should maintain restraint, I also know we have to keep up the pressure on these elected 'representatives', most of whom seem to think it's their right to be in Public Office forever, and not answer for their votes. Bart Gordon is not a center Democrat; he is an Al Gore-toy and he is in the vanguard of the far-left Democrats and he is now following the lead of Nancy Pelosi.

Even though I voted for this guy (because the NRA said he was rated "A") I can no longer support Bart Gordon.

Is it 2010 yet?
