Huckabee Won’t Run for President
Mike Huckabee just announced on his Fox News program that he won’t be running for president in 2012.
“All factors say go, but my heart says no,” he said.
You listening, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney?

UPDATE: The dirty bastard cop killer might be dead...
SEATTLE — A suspect in the slaying of four police officers who were gunned down in a suburban coffee shop was surrounded by police at a Seattle house early Monday, wounded and possibly dead, police said.A heroic last shot from a dying officer may have finished this SOB. Justice, that would be.
Negotiators were trying to communicate with Maurice Clemmons, 37, using loudspeakers, explosions and even a robot to try to prod him from hiding. At one point, gunshots rang through the neighborhood, about 30 miles from the original crime scene.
"We have determined that in fact he has been shot," said Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff. "He may be deceased from his gunshot wound."
Hope it was a gut-shot.

Rush Limbaugh: Celebrating 20 years of Maddening teh Liberals UPDATED! Rush might buy the St. Louis Rams!
0 comments Posted by kotang at 8:38 PMHell of a run. Rush is still the top dog in talk radio. Twenty years, has it really been that long? Today, Donald Rumsfeld gave him kudos. For his twenty years of excellence in broadcasting.
I've seen him twice, in Nashville. The first time in his 'Rush to Excellence' tour, probably in 1989 I think; then in 1993 when he was the keynote speaker at the NRA convention.
The guy is wildly funny, and deadly accurate. Some of his earlier stuff was much more 'edgy' than we're hearing now.
I don't have time to listen all that much, maybe 30-40 minutes a week. But if something politically charged is happening, I try to catch Rush's take, because it will be well worth hearing.
Keep it up, Rush. You've done a fine job. You're worth every cent of that mega-contract.
(But that tie! Can you believe he used to sell those things? And no, I never bought one, either... )
My posts on Rush...
Cartoonist Lee Judge wants Rush dead!
Huckabee belittles Rush...so, Huckholio is born!
Harry Reid and his 'repudiation letter'; Rush sells it and donates the proceeds to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Fund! Hilarity ensues!
This, from October 2007, a ranking of the top conservative voices, voted by right-of-center bloggers. Note President Bush at #8. I wonder if he would even make the chart today.
And Johan Goldberg at #16? I'd put him at 7 or 8 now, after the success of Liberal Fascism.
And who is that Fred Thomspon guy at #6?
Where is John McCain? Heh. Just checking to see if you were awake.

UPDATED
Rush Limbaugh might purchase the St. Louis Rams, if they become available. From The Radio Equalizer (h/t Ace)...
To the soreheaded lefties still steaming over his mega- contract renewal deal, here's some salt for the wounds. Finally, to our self- appointed "civil rights leaders" and their never- ending quest to keep professional sports as polticially correct as possible, here's a new reason to march in the streets.
That's right, Rush Limbaugh may use some of that massive advance money (and take on new debt) to purchase a NFL team.
Will the angry mob that fought Limbaugh's brief ESPN tenure be able to stop him? It could take some clever maneuvering this time around, but don't think they won't give it their best shot.
I'm a Titans season-ticket holder, so dislike of the Rams is built in to my being (Kurt Warner still suks!); but if Rush buys an interest in the Rams, I'll have to add them to my short list of favorites.
For unhinged leftists, not so much...
July 28, 2008 8:42 pm I would never watch the Rams if he was the owner! There's nothing worse than the unhinged left. Nor anything more exciting to watch (except live football...photos coming soon to a blog near you!)
I would never watch the Rams play any team if he becomes an owner. I'm a 49er fan and that would be at least 2 games a year i would not watch. There is no possible way the NFL would approve the sale of the Rams to this guy. The guy was and maybe still is a drug addict, not to mention the most politically incorrect person ...
July 28, 2008 6:48 pm Would Rush field an all white team?
I'm wondering how far he'd take his team, see if he feels that putting his money where his mouth is.
I think all those right wing people are all phoneys, and if they had to poney up for what they say, they'd wimper away.
Rush doesn't have the guts to actually follow through and put himself on the line.....

McCain starts VP search...Alaska Governor SARAH PALIN on the list?
0 comments Posted by kotang at 10:51 AMMcCain should pick a candidate based on performance, fiscal Conservatism, and some Real Conservatism, to balance out his, you know, weaknesses.
I would like to see a woman, a black woman preferably, offered the position; it's past time for that. But I don't think my first choice, Condoleezza Rice, would take the job. Just a hunch.
Eric Dondero, of Mainstream Liberatrian, sends this email...
"Adam Brickley: We might (emphasis on "might") have our first confirmation that the McCain campaign is vetting Gov. Palin as a potential running mate.
"Yesterday, the domain names SarahPalin.org (info) and SarahPalin.net (info) were reserved by a company called "Domains By Proxy, Inc." (SarahPalin.com was reserved by Palin's web team during her gubernatorial run). Domains By Proxy is an internet privacy service based out of Scottsdale, Arizona. Basically, their business is protecting the privacy of registrants who don't want the public to know that they own a domain name (owners of all domain names must be registered in a public database called "WHOIS")
"HERE'S THE KICKER: "Domains By Proxy" is the service used by the McCain campaign to secure domain names for all of their websites, including the official campaign site JohnMcCain.com (info). In addition, the purchase came on the exact day that the McCain campaign told the press that the VP search process had been started.
"Now, we can't prove anything conclusively. However, I think that the circumstantial evidence is very strong that the domain names were purchased by the McCain campaign. So, we don't know waht the VP list looks like, but I think that the evidence definitely suggests that Gov. Palin is among the people being vetted. Unfortunately, we cannot find out the number or identities of the other potential veeps because most domain names associated with other supposed candidates (Crist, Pawlenty, Portman, Ridge, Sanford, etc.) were purchased by various organizations before yesterday, so they cannot be secured as easily as the Palin domains."
Sarah Heath Palin is Republican, is the first female Governor of Alaska, and the youngest (42) to hold that office. This bit of politics is interesting, and may be why McCain is taking a second look...
"Governor Frank Murkowski appointed Palin to serve as ethics commissioner on the state's Oil and Gas Conservation Commission which she served on during 2003–2004, but later resigned, in protest over what she perceived to be the "lack of ethics" of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders. This included the state party's chairman, Randy Ruedrich, a fellow commissioner..."McCain likes to slap around those in his own party. Maverick, and all that...I guess he's looking for a soul mate. Not that there's anything wrong with strong ethics, but I like to see Republicans who slap Democrats, first. And maybe not sidle up to them so much, eh?
Sarah's politics?
"Palin is strongly pro-life and belongs to Feminists for Life. She opposes same-sex marriage, but has gay friends and has otherwise been receptive to gay and lesbian concerns about discrimination. While the previous administration did not implement same-sex benefits, Palin followed an Alaska Supreme Court order and signed them into law.Which is fine. I believe that "marriage" as a traditional, Church-sanctioned process should be protected and reserved for only a man and a woman. Purely in the traditional sense. Gays can go ahead and get some sort of 'civil' secular mutual-service agreement where they can get some rights and benefits, but please, don't mock the real thing. There's enough of that already, by those who are allowed to marry.
"She supports a democratic advisory vote from the public on whether there should be a constitutional amendment on the matter. Alaska was one of the first states to pass a constitutional ban on gay marriage, in 1998, along with Hawaii.
"Palin's first veto was used on legislation that would have barred the state from granting benefits to gay state employees and their partners. In effect, her veto granted State benefits to same-sex couples. The veto occurred after Palin consulted with her attorney general on the constitutionality of the legislation."
As far as fiscal policy, Sarah seems perfect for the job. She sold the Governor's jet on Ebay; squashed some pork spending left over from the previous governor's sloppy reign, and really seems to want some tighter controls on spending. Exactly what the Republicans need: a fresh, new approach to fiscal Conservatism.
Say, Sarah sounds better than....
Nevermind.

McCain then quickly shifted to the general election and drew a biting contrast between himself and Obama. He promised to deliver far more than just an "eloquent but empty call for change" and the "confused leadership of an inexperienced candidate."[emphasis mine; h/t Ace]
It's going to take more than just those few words to combat the near-holy feelings Barack brings to his sycophantic following.
John McCain, if you want to lead all the Republicans, then you had better get ready for the fight of your life, and 'bring it' to Obama. Every single day. And good.
Because if you don't, there's no chance you'll win. Or even place.
(Unless you pick Hillary as your running mate?) (don't laugh; Maverick did sidle up to a couple leftists, remember?)
But, for the good of the country, we have. to.back.Maverick.
There. I said it. Toughest decision I've made all day, too. I mean, black or navy socks, the baked potato or mashed with my grilled steak, or Baracky or Maverick?
Let's see...Baracky, Maverick. Maverick, Baracky. Teh navy, mashed, and Maverick.
I suppose those are proper choices.
So be it.

But, look at this...Romney won Rutherford County, by 12 votes! That's a close finish. I'm one of those 12...

Fred Thomspon former staffer Ng loses his cool over Chuck Norris' endorsement of Huckholio
0 comments Posted by kotang at 7:51 AMDarrel Ng, Fred's spokesperson (who's out of a job right now) has bitten into a chokecherry over Norris' previous endorsement of Huckabee. This 'boycott call' is a bit late, and not in good form. Not that I care much for Huckholio, or Norris for that matter, but calling out Norris for his endorsement this late in the game (which for Ng, is certainly, hopefully, over) is just nugacious.
Ng should've been content to watch Chuck Norris get his ass kicked a couple times. I always enjoy recalling this particular scene, featuring Bruce Lee batting Chuck about like a kitten playing with a knickknackery.

It's a fact, now, that we who espouse social conservatism are left high and dry by the early departure of Fred Thompson. With Tennessee's primary election open, I've decided to vote for Barack Obama.
No, it's not a throw-away vote. A throw-away vote is an early vote that went to Fred Thompson. A throw-away vote is one to Ron Paul, or Mitt Romney, or Huckholio, or that other guy with the white hair and the fine gold chains to his leftist friends, the RINO choice of the media. No, I'm not really caring about who gets Tennessee's primary delegates. I do have a desire to vote against Hillary Clinton.
Because of the years of Bill Clinton! Because of the Clinton Assault Weapon Gun Ban. Because of Bill Clinton's disrespect for the Office of the President. Because of Bill Clinton's failure to nab Bin Laden on the two occasions where opportunity was there.
Yes, I want to vote against the Clintons. Again.
Now, when the general election rolls around, we'll see what's left of the Republican party after the (hopefully) contentious convention. Maybe they'll be no clear winner, and a Conservative will be drafted (Newt Gingrich comes to mind.)
If McCain sweeps Florida, and Super Tuesday, and takes the nomination? Just, damn.
But I will have voted against Hillary Clinton once this year. I can say that with a smile.
;D

Running with the Huckholio theme.
I've got at least until September, before Huck runs out of gas.
(You don't think this will get me in too much trouble, do you?)

Republican Huckholio wins the Iowa Caucus (oh, and that Obama fellow wins the Lefties) UPDATE! Iowahawk's Live Blogging!
0 comments Posted by kotang at 7:05 PMYes, it's true...the Religious Right hath spoken. With a vengeance, baby! At around 34% to Mitt's 25% or so. Final numbers tomorrow, of course...
"Huckabee raced past bigger-spending, better-known Republican rivals to win in Iowa. His base includes the support of socially conservative Christians in the Hawkeye StateLeftists like Obama. Hillary and Edwards are fighting tied up for 2nd place (ahh, that imagery!).
"Former Gov. Mitt Romney placed second with 25 percent in the Republican caucus while former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson gathered only 14 percent of votes in initial reports.
"The win would give Huckabee, an ordained Baptist minister, momentum and credibility heading into the Jan. 8 primary in New Hampshire."
But, who cares?
Seems Iowahawk had a Precinct Party at his house...
8:15 PM: That was weird. I heard the exhaust fan running in the upstairs bathroom so I went up to turn it off. When I opened the door Barack Obama was in there torching a one-hitter. "Hey man, want a hit?" he goes, with a big grin. I'm pretty toasted already so I said no thanks. "That's cool,' he says. Really seems like a nice guy. So then he shakes out some blow on the counter and offers me a line. "No thanks man," I say. "That's cool," he says. "Y'all Chase the Dragon?" he asks, pulling out a spoon, lighter and some rubber tubing. I declined again. I'm not sure how good a president he will be, but he's certainly a lot better house guest than Hillary.

There's been some disagreement between our favorite Conservative pundit, Rush Limbaugh, and Mike Huckabee that dates back to just before Rush's Holiday vacation. From Allahpundit at Hot Air, this quote from Rush dated Dec. 21st...
RUSH: "Yeah, that’s why I haven’t endorsed anybody. I’m waiting. I don’t know how else I can do it. I realize that there are a lot of you out there: You got a candidate, and you think that if I got behind your candidate it would put ‘em over the top, and you might be right. But, at this point, it’s just an age-old belief that I have, and I remain true to my beliefs and principles. Now, some people have written me, “I hear you say this, but you’re full of it. What about 2000 with Bush and McCain in South Carolina?” Special circumstance. You had a two-man race, and what was happening in South Carolina, McCain was going so far off the conservative reservation, so far off of it, that it was necessary to step in. Huckabee is getting close, I’m going to have to tell you. Huckabee’s getting close to the same stuff. Huckabee is using his devout Christianity to mask some other things that are distinctively not conservative."
Today, Allahpundit points out knocks to Huckabee on Rush's home page...from AP...
"Got a couple of e-mails this morning noting the conspicuous uniformly positive treatment of Romney and negative treatment of Huckabee at Limbaugh HQ. He’s back on the air on Thursday, i.e. Caucus Day, I believe. Omens of a dramatic, potentially election-affecting eleventh-hour endorsement?"Rush is our conservative bellweather. He's certainly going to let us know if someone 'leaves the reservation', boundaries that are pretty straightforward.
My invisible lines are those dealing with Gun Rights. We can't have a Giuliani or a Romney get in there are re-sign an 'assault' rifle ban in the form of a Bill Clinton. There's much Conservative weakness from both of those RINOs. Huckabee? Not sure, completely, on his gun rights stance...I've pretty much ignored most of his stuff.
I'm still hoping Thompson kicks it in. We'll know more, Friday morning, after the Iowa cauci...
