There's been some disagreement between our favorite Conservative pundit, Rush Limbaugh, and Mike Huckabee that dates back to just before Rush's Holiday vacation. From Allahpundit at Hot Air, this quote from Rush dated Dec. 21st...

RUSH: "Yeah, that’s why I haven’t endorsed anybody. I’m waiting. I don’t know how else I can do it. I realize that there are a lot of you out there: You got a candidate, and you think that if I got behind your candidate it would put ‘em over the top, and you might be right. But, at this point, it’s just an age-old belief that I have, and I remain true to my beliefs and principles. Now, some people have written me, “I hear you say this, but you’re full of it. What about 2000 with Bush and McCain in South Carolina?” Special circumstance. You had a two-man race, and what was happening in South Carolina, McCain was going so far off the conservative reservation, so far off of it, that it was necessary to step in. Huckabee is getting close, I’m going to have to tell you. Huckabee’s getting close to the same stuff. Huckabee is using his devout Christianity to mask some other things that are distinctively not conservative."

Today, Allahpundit points out knocks to Huckabee on Rush's home page...from AP...

"Got a couple of e-mails this morning noting the conspicuous uniformly positive treatment of Romney and negative treatment of Huckabee at Limbaugh HQ. He’s back on the air on Thursday, i.e. Caucus Day, I believe. Omens of a dramatic, potentially election-affecting eleventh-hour endorsement?"

Rush is our conservative bellweather. He's certainly going to let us know if someone 'leaves the reservation', boundaries that are pretty straightforward.

My invisible lines are those dealing with Gun Rights. We can't have a Giuliani or a Romney get in there are re-sign an 'assault' rifle ban in the form of a Bill Clinton. There's much Conservative weakness from both of those RINOs. Huckabee? Not sure, completely, on his gun rights stance...I've pretty much ignored most of his stuff.

I'm still hoping Thompson kicks it in. We'll know more, Friday morning, after the Iowa cauci...
