Rush Limbaugh: Celebrating 20 years of Maddening teh Liberals UPDATED! Rush might buy the St. Louis Rams!
Posted by kotang at 8:38 PMHell of a run. Rush is still the top dog in talk radio. Twenty years, has it really been that long? Today, Donald Rumsfeld gave him kudos. For his twenty years of excellence in broadcasting.
I've seen him twice, in Nashville. The first time in his 'Rush to Excellence' tour, probably in 1989 I think; then in 1993 when he was the keynote speaker at the NRA convention.
The guy is wildly funny, and deadly accurate. Some of his earlier stuff was much more 'edgy' than we're hearing now.
I don't have time to listen all that much, maybe 30-40 minutes a week. But if something politically charged is happening, I try to catch Rush's take, because it will be well worth hearing.
Keep it up, Rush. You've done a fine job. You're worth every cent of that mega-contract.
(But that tie! Can you believe he used to sell those things? And no, I never bought one, either... )
My posts on Rush...
Cartoonist Lee Judge wants Rush dead!
Huckabee belittles Rush...so, Huckholio is born!
Harry Reid and his 'repudiation letter'; Rush sells it and donates the proceeds to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Fund! Hilarity ensues!
This, from October 2007, a ranking of the top conservative voices, voted by right-of-center bloggers. Note President Bush at #8. I wonder if he would even make the chart today.
And Johan Goldberg at #16? I'd put him at 7 or 8 now, after the success of Liberal Fascism.
And who is that Fred Thomspon guy at #6?
Where is John McCain? Heh. Just checking to see if you were awake.

UPDATED
Rush Limbaugh might purchase the St. Louis Rams, if they become available. From The Radio Equalizer (h/t Ace)...
To the soreheaded lefties still steaming over his mega- contract renewal deal, here's some salt for the wounds. Finally, to our self- appointed "civil rights leaders" and their never- ending quest to keep professional sports as polticially correct as possible, here's a new reason to march in the streets.
That's right, Rush Limbaugh may use some of that massive advance money (and take on new debt) to purchase a NFL team.
Will the angry mob that fought Limbaugh's brief ESPN tenure be able to stop him? It could take some clever maneuvering this time around, but don't think they won't give it their best shot.
I'm a Titans season-ticket holder, so dislike of the Rams is built in to my being (Kurt Warner still suks!); but if Rush buys an interest in the Rams, I'll have to add them to my short list of favorites.
For unhinged leftists, not so much...
July 28, 2008 8:42 pm I would never watch the Rams if he was the owner! There's nothing worse than the unhinged left. Nor anything more exciting to watch (except live football...photos coming soon to a blog near you!)
I would never watch the Rams play any team if he becomes an owner. I'm a 49er fan and that would be at least 2 games a year i would not watch. There is no possible way the NFL would approve the sale of the Rams to this guy. The guy was and maybe still is a drug addict, not to mention the most politically incorrect person ...
July 28, 2008 6:48 pm Would Rush field an all white team?
I'm wondering how far he'd take his team, see if he feels that putting his money where his mouth is.
I think all those right wing people are all phoneys, and if they had to poney up for what they say, they'd wimper away.
Rush doesn't have the guts to actually follow through and put himself on the line.....
