The alternative to a serious and, given, a hurtful G.O.P. budget, Dr. Krugman? Nothing. Zero. A broken, failed Republic; an absolute, catastrophic failure the likes of which no society on this planet has experienced before. The failure and downgrading of the former Soviet Union will be a model we wish we could emulate.
Ryan's budget is the only ray of hope I've seen that might (might!) save this Republic. The U.S. Government stepped well out of the limits of it's constitutional charter when it began desiring to guarantee outcomes for it's citizens. We cannot satisfy the needs and desires of every citizen (much less non-citizens) given that our debts are impossibly large, and as has been pointed out by the CBO, unsustainable. Even if you took all the money away from every rich person in this nation, as Democrats are wont to do it seems (class warfare enabled and encouraged by Democrats), we still couldn't guarantee the outcome of every citizen. That desire, while laudable, is not doable.
We must look at the Ryan budget and hope it's enacted in time to save us all.

Wisconsin is a flashpoint, you're right about that. But for the wrong reasons.
Unions are outdated and only serve today to nourish a single Party apparatus (the Democrats) at the expense of true democracy. To borrow a phrase from progressives, 'it's not fair'.
We've seen Wisconsin Senate Democrats fleeing the state to avoid doing their jobs; unable to face what the November 2nd voters mandated. We've seen government unionists 'striking' (illegally) to attend weekday protests where 'Doctors' handed out fake sick notes so these unionists can use them to avoid punishment. We've seen the unions quickly backtracking on concessions; they are now willing to take the meager financial hits necessary to balance the state's budget, because they are pants-crappingly scared that they are doomed! (as they should be). We've seen the POTUS, himself the author of trillions of dollars of debt, try to give advice to a state that's far better off. Obama opens his mouth, send forth his DNC and Organizing for America 'community-organized' goons from all over the nation, to attempt to overcome a single state's issue; the 10th Amendment be damned.
These public-sector unions need to be demolished nationwide. It's just not right for public employees to have their union dues monies forced from them without consent to be spent on political contributions to only one party. Public officials are elected, and government employees are supposed to be indifferent as to the outcome of elections. But these government employee unions not only give monies to Democrats but also contribute on-the-job time and work for 100% Democrat-only candidates; that money and time adds up to a candidate owing the unions for whatever the unions demand, be it pay and benefits increases that are well above private-sector pay and benefits, and more subtle but just as bad, they have an unfairly-constructed shield that private sector employees don't have for to shelter them from economic downturns.
As far as the non-public sector unions, their time is up too. Democrats complain about jobs going overseas. Here in Tennessee, we have the Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corp., and Volkswagen, both doing just fine sans unions. The GM Saturn plant sits idle, and has for months. Union demands made GM's products non-competitive. Unions drive jobs overseas, silly Democrats. You can't force corporations to employ people who demand more than the market can afford to pay.
Again, Krugman, what about the U.S. being broke do you not understand?

A sinister shrine reveals a chilling occult dimension in the mind of the deranged gunman accused of shooting a member of Congress and 19 others.NOOOOO! Can't be; these Leftists (Krugman &c.) have placed a lot of political capital in the framing of this tragedy as being caused by those on the Right. Can't let the air out of their blow-up dolls this soon!
Hidden within a camouflage tent behind Jared Lee Loughner's home sits an alarming altar with a skull sitting atop a pot filled with shriveled oranges.
A row of ceremonial candles and a bag of potting soil lay nearby, photos reveal.
Experts on Sunday said the elements are featured in the ceremonies of a number of occult groups.
Investigators have focused on Loughner's online anti-government ramblings as the chief motivation for the shooting Saturday of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
The discovery of the shrine raises the possibility that Loughner, 22, may have been driven by other forces.
In that vein, we have to look at the Left. This skull crap means the guy wasn't an EVIL WHITE CHRISTIANIST, but a Democrat; outreaching to and embracing TEH OTHER religions and beliefs, as Democrats are so fond of doing.
The Daily KOS banner added to the photo to draw attention to the proper perspective. You'd much sooner find that altar being worshiped there than at FOX News-breathing outlets, right ?

"Nobody who was paying attention has ever doubted that Fox is, in reality, a part of the Republican political machine; but the network — with its Orwellian slogan, “fair and balanced” — has always denied the obvious. Officially, it still does. But by hiring those G.O.P. candidates, while at the same time making million-dollar contributions to the Republican Governors Association and the rabidly anti-Obama United States Chamber of Commerce, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, which owns Fox, is signaling that it no longer feels the need to make any effort to keep up appearances."Thus speaks Krugman, a pundit so-far-vestigial 'Republican' that he doesn't even still deserve the rancid RINO label. We'll keep that label for fakirs who at least try to maintain a semblance of the Republican spirit; Krugman has none of that left, if he ever did in the first place.
When you prop yourself up from the NEW YORK TIMES and decry FOX News, you're disparaging a cot in a tent from a feather bed in a palace.

"America Goes Dark": Paul Krugman realizes now that Atlas is Shrugging.
0 comments Posted by kotang at 5:27 AMToday's New York Times (savor this headline, if you would)...
Yes, this is all truth. Yes, it's going to get very, very much worse, before it gets better.America Goes Dark
The lights are going out all over America — literally. Colorado Springs has made headlines with its desperate attempt to save money by turning off a third of its streetlights, but similar things are either happening or being contemplated across the nation, from Philadelphia to Fresno.
Meanwhile, a country that once amazed the world with its visionary investments in transportation, from the Erie Canal to the Interstate Highway System, is now in the process of unpaving itself: in a number of states, local governments are breaking up roads they can no longer afford to maintain, and returning them to gravel.
And a nation that once prized education — that was among the first to provide basic schooling to all its children — is now cutting back. Teachers are being laid off; programs are being canceled; in Hawaii, the school year itself is being drastically shortened. And all signs point to even more cuts ahead.
Yes, Leftism as a moral disease and an economic system must fail for things to improve.
Krugman is in Lefty Denial! He writes "...federal government...isn’t cash-strapped at all." Really? Sell more Federal bonds, he says, to give to States who are going broke. Who would buy these bonds of which you speak, Krugman, and who will pay the interest on these bonds? The unborn generations?
Oh, and Krugman repeats more of the failing Liberal Mantra: "Raise Taxes". You've some thin gruel, Krugman. Raising taxes is exactly the wrong thing to do, as you will see soon enough, if the so-called "Bush tax cuts" expire on January 1.
And, this unbelievable bit of Krugman: "...if you look at government spending as a whole you see hardly any stimulus at all." Forget your hero economist Keynes, then! He's likely rolling over in his grave right now, seeing how badly his ideas have failed! That economic tool, Keynesian economics, was proven disastrous prior to WWII, and can't be fixed. Keynesian economics is failed economics, by your own admission, Krugman. What more proof do you need?
Unless you want to admit that much of the $3.27 Trillion in stimulus costs were misdirected; those funds being largely funneled to Democrat special interests; which means Democrats have acted like 'kids in a candy store' with this 'spread the wealth to our VOTERS!' spending spree once Democrats assumed power? Stimulus monies that are still set aside to assure that 'hand-me' moochers will continue to vote for their favorite Democrat looters?
Atlas is shrugging, Krugman. Your far-leftist dreams of nirvana are failing. You've managed to kill the productive spirit of the true producers of this Nation; who are NOT going to hire or spend until Obama and Democrats are completely out of power.
So get used to the dark, then, all of you Leftists. You will finally learn the hard way just what a disease Leftist Liberal Fascism really is.
