Japan Makes Progress at Troubled Nuclear Plant
See how the ADULTS in the media headline what they know? Look at a lefty site, say, Huff'n'blow, you've nothing but sensationalism. That's what the LeftLibProggs thrive on; pure, unthinking melodrama. That's why they voted for a little prezzidint-man who stutters and MUST NEEDS! a teleprompter, or he's a fish out of water. (See an executive summary of Mr. Obama's business qualifications here; this should be a separate post, but I'm hurried today)...Officials Regain Some Control, But Too Early to Say Problems Over; Reactors 5, 6 Heat Up
an analysis of BHO as Company USA’s CEO…In classic management theory, Barack Obama would have to be described as an abdicative manager.
The abdicative manager evidences a tendency to flee [FLEEBAGGER] from responsibility and is frequently encountered in situations where he or she never wanted the job in the first place (for instance, a son or daughter who inherits a company or the individual who discovers that they are incapable of adequate performance). Abdication can be exhibited in a variety of ways, ranging from physically removing oneself through travel (the confusion of movement with action), to obsessing about personal interests or a limited range of controllable subjects.
Back to the reactor, the multiple meltdowns. From the ADULT WSJ...Obama’s frequent vacations and absences, especially in times of crisis, coupled with his unwillingness to personally invest himself in key initiatives, are demonstrative of this style. An excellent example occurred after passage of the healthcare initiative. Having ceded authority in what would later be described as his key achievement to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, he watched as they forced the bill through under a manufactured emergency that precluded lawmakers from having time to read it. He then went on a four-day vacation before signing it.There’s more; it’s worth the clicky admission.
TOKYO—Japanese officials appeared to have regained some control of northeast Japan's troubled nuclear power plant Tuesday afternoon, at least for now, after spikes in radiation levels that followed a new explosion at one reactor and a fire at another earlier in the day put the nation on high alert. There you go.
Officials stressed it was too early to say the worst has been averted at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which has suffered serious problems in four of its six reactors since Friday's massive earthquake and tsunami. Determining the cause of the earlier radiation leaks and checking what's happening inside the overheating reactors was difficult.
Authorities also signaled a new area of potential worry: temperature at the remaining two reactors, both not operating at the time of the earthquake and so far not the subject of concern, has risen slightly, prompting the need for close monitoring. Officials were also probing a report that boiling water had been spotted near where the fire broke out Tuesday morning, another potential worrying sign.
But the conditions at the plant appeared to have stabilized in some aspects Tuesday afternoon. While radiation levels at the plant remain elevated, they have dropped significantly from earlier in the day, ruling out the continuation of unstoppable large-scale leaks.
Here's a 'Tokyo Geiger Counter', measuring the radioactivity in the air, updated every 10 minutes. A spike to about 90 CPM (not very much) at about 11:52 3/15/11, then a return to 'normal'.
And, a webcam from TEPCO, that if daylight, shows a what's in the air at Fukushima. Right now, it's pitch-black.
Now, to prove my lack of PANIC! ONOES! RADIATION'S GONNA KILL US ALL!!!11!!!, I present this photo scan of the magazine cover "The Daily", featuring what my buddy and Bag-man describes as "Up-skirt shot and doofy word play. Not nearly as bad, though, as corny NY Post-style headlines paired with tragic Japan photos."
Huh. Looks to me like a University of North Carolina cheerleader giving up aerial; captured by a camera with an open aperture and a quick shutter setting (I'd say a fast f4.5 and 1/200 or so, wouldn't you?). Nice shot, really.
Now rush out to your local health-food store and buy some iodine tablets, y'hear?

How much hell did I catch for last week's entry? Well, PhotoBucket dropped the image from circulation (somebody's granny saw it and complained I suppose) but Blogger ran it with no problems. It was down for several hours before I reloaded. FreakingNews gave it a 'Gold Star'.
This week, I've things to do, so it's back to my own stuff..this one from the Titan's season opener last year, a win vs. Jacksonville (that strange game wherein Vince Young had his dubious collapse from sanity, and embraced disgrace..he'll not play again, I don't think. We should've taken Jay Cutler in that '06 draft like I wanted. Thanks, Bud Adams, you stubborn, revengeful old galoot.)
Oh, well. Water under the gams.
These from the Titans-Cardinals game played in Tempe in October '05. I wasn't blogging back then. Or even reading blogs. But I've always appreciated Cheerleaders. )

Titans vs. Steelers: Steelers and their TERRIBLE TOWELS, ROUTED!
0 comments Posted by kotang at 10:08 PMHeh. 'Terrible Towelgate'.
Here we go, locking down home-field playoff advantage. The path to the AFC Championship goes through LP Field. All we have to do is win.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans wanted to head into the playoffs with a little momentum. Thanks to a dominating performance Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they'll have much more than that.
Kerry Collins threw for one touchdown, and Chris Johnson and LenDale White each ran for a score as the Titans routed the Steelers 31-14 in a showdown of the AFC's best teams. Tennessee clinched the conference's No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Here's the pics.

I'm saying that some of the Titans' ticket holders were major twatwaffles for selling their tickets to Steelers fans...because of the cold? Freakin' sissies. The cheerleaders were out there with bare skin, exposed; you didn't see them selling out their spots to their Pittsburgh couterparts, now did you?

"Steel Rusted Curtain", more like it.

But not so fast! Keith Bullock and Lendale White stirred up some controversy by stomping on one of those 'Steelers Terrible Towels', getting ex-Steelers coach Cowher (now working the booth) stirred up. Here's a video some wag put out, giving a less than nuanced opinion about "Terrible Towelgate" and what the Steelers fan could do with 'em.
As I said, less than nuanced. NSFW; because of foul mouthiness.
We'll probably cross paths with the Pittsburgh Steelers again. Here, in our house.
Leave the stinkin' towels at home, bitches.

The Titans win this one 30-17; at 4-0, their best start for the franchise evah, going back to include all the Houston Oilers contests. And with the quarterback issues we've had--makes this an amazing run.
But it's like Keith Bulluck said.."We still have a chance to go 4-12."
Not likely. After all, there's Houston to play again. Those sad sacks lost to the Jags. The Colts had a bye week.
My favorite game stat--Titans, + 4 sacks. None for the hapless Vikes. Tennessee's defense is outstanding, just remarkable. Big Al Haynesworth sacked Gus Frerotte twice, and Nick Harper got a pick. On that same play Frerotte injured his hand and had to leave. No matter..Tarvaris Jackson, Frerotte's replacement, came in and got sacked as well.
I missed getting the photo of Chris Johnson's first TD. Some maroon jumped up right in front of my camera.
This is Lendale White's 2nd Quarter TD, coming off a 1-yd. run.
As usual, with Blogger, you have to click the pic to embiggen.Cheerleaders..well, these are not the current active cheerleaders. During halftime, the Titans organization honored 10 years of cheerleaders. I can't be sure which years we have here...I'd say 2000 or so.
I think the current crop is lined up in the secondary in this shot.
You know, the skinny ones..
Somewhere in that mess is Gus Frerotte, burind under the Titan's defense. Kearse, Haynesworth and Vanden Bosh aren't far away. I think that's Keith Bulluck in there on top of Frerotte; I can't be sure though.
This is an interesting sequence leading up to Frerotte's injury, late in the 4th quarter. The Vikes are pinned on their 2-yard line, #12 is deep in his end zone..he had three chances to work his way out of trouble.
On this aborted pass, there's no gain or loss.
Frerotte takes the snap..
..gets his pass away. That ball on it's way to Nick Harper, for the interception. But......Frerotte is injured. No more plays for him.
Later, Chris Johnson runs in his second TD.
Oh, did I mention Tarvarious Jackson came in, and got sacked too? Kearse and Haynesworth shared the honors.
Great game.
The fans booed the refs, for a bogus call on Kyle Vanden Bosh (Frerotte is a skilled actor, and boo-hooed his way into a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty that riled Fisher and the fans. I love it when Fish gets worked up..)
I looked for Vince Young on the sidelines, pre-game. He was no where to be seen. The guy I saw last week, thought was VY? Nope. He never touched the field last week. He was suppoesed to be down there this week (hopefully holding a clipboard, and learning something from Kerry Collins) but, no, I don't think he was there.
Maybe he was working in the booth. Dunno. His not being there, not a good thing, really.
Extras
Winning hairstyle of the game...

Sad, sad day after the game for these Vikings fans.
I saw more Vikings fans today than any of the other sort of visiting fan at the previous home games this year. But, the next game, with Indy, will bring out the Vols faithful. All they have left to run on this season is memories. Such is the fate of the NFL's minor league teams...their best players never can come back. Give it up, VOLs fans, Peyton's gone forever. So's Fulmer, after this season.
(BTW, speaking of confused fans, How in the hell could this guy stand wearing that silly hothat for some three hours, in the direct sun?)

Oh, hey, shout out to dmac720 at myspace dot com. Nice enought to pose for this shot, with some...well-dressed Titans fans. (At least those headdresses will radiate the heat!)

Top-shelf margaritas.. )

My signature end-of-the-line boat shot.

Next home game, 4 weeks! away. Monday Night Football vs. Indianapolis.

Titans vs. Texans Week 3 - Sept. 21, 2008 Titans 31, Texans 12
0 comments Posted by kotang at 3:37 PMA high-scoring game, surprisingly easy to win. The Texans just couldn't get anything done in the red zone. The Titans, again, with a stifling defense.
The Titans are 3-0, and off to their best start since 1999. I took about 130 pics, of which only these I consider interesting. Click them for enlargement; some are pretty good sized.
Jeff Fisher with Kerry Collins, pre-game warmups. Jeff has a keeper in Kerry Collins. I think Jeff's gotten lucky. He'll have an outbreak of superstitions now. Remember the beard?
Vince Young? This might be him. I searched for Vince on the sideline, pregame, but he definitely didn't suit up. I can't tell from this angle. Probably not, given his height. But the posture...defensive, maybe? Psychoanalyze this.
Craig Hentrich and Rob Bironas hang out, pregame.
Michael Griffin, checking out the turf, pregame. #33 snagged two interceptions. Matt Schaub didn't have a very good outing...three picks, three sacks, no TD's. Houston's fan-driven naval-introspection is prolly well underway by now.
Plenty of VY #10 jerseys on show. I asked a vendor if she would take a VY jersey in on trade. I was joking, of course.
The Titans Cheerleaders! Here, with shadow. Escorting the players onto the field, just before the start.
Lendale White scores the first of 4 Titans TD's. This one in the 1st Quarter, after the Texans took a 3-0 lead (after Kerry Collins' first play from scrimmage was an interception. There were no boos. But, we won't speak of that again. We won't need to. )
This wasn't a TD, but it sure looks like one. Alge Crumpler almost caught a pass in the end zone. There was a penalty marker down too, but that wasn't the reason this was called back...an incomplete pass I think. Or maybe it was a penalty. There was a long, loud booing session later in the game, when the official(s) blew a call, allowing a Texan to step out of bounds and still keep going for massive yardage. Was that Ed Hochuli I wonder?
Bo Scaife gets a touch at the beginning of the 2nd Quarter.
Ummmm..the Titans Cheerleaders do their Daisy Duke impersonation(s).
I was enthralled. Click on this one for sure.
Lendale White gets his 2nd TD, about halfway through the 2nd Quarter. Right up the middle, downhill all the way.
Ahhh, the winning hairstyle of this game. And there were a couple good contenders.
Courtland Finnegan picks Matt Schaub and runs back 99 yards for the Titan's 4th TD. It was pretty much moot since it came at 1:17 left in the game, the Texans had pretty much already packed it in; but great for the stats. Icing on the cake.
But, we will miss Vince Young soon enough I think. Here's hoping he gets his head screwed on, and can lead this team.
Oh, my old tradition: a picture of a boat on the Cumberland river. A speedboat...gas not a problem, obviously. If he bought gas at the Commodore Yacht Club, he paid six bucks a gallon. At minimum.
