The Titans win this one 30-17; at 4-0, their best start for the franchise evah, going back to include all the Houston Oilers contests. And with the quarterback issues we've had--makes this an amazing run.
But it's like Keith Bulluck said.."We still have a chance to go 4-12."
Not likely. After all, there's Houston to play again. Those sad sacks lost to the Jags. The Colts had a bye week.
My favorite game stat--Titans, + 4 sacks. None for the hapless Vikes. Tennessee's defense is outstanding, just remarkable. Big Al Haynesworth sacked Gus Frerotte twice, and Nick Harper got a pick. On that same play Frerotte injured his hand and had to leave. No matter..Tarvaris Jackson, Frerotte's replacement, came in and got sacked as well.
I missed getting the photo of Chris Johnson's first TD. Some maroon jumped up right in front of my camera.
This is Lendale White's 2nd Quarter TD, coming off a 1-yd. run.
As usual, with Blogger, you have to click the pic to embiggen.Cheerleaders..well, these are not the current active cheerleaders. During halftime, the Titans organization honored 10 years of cheerleaders. I can't be sure which years we have here...I'd say 2000 or so.
I think the current crop is lined up in the secondary in this shot.
You know, the skinny ones..
Somewhere in that mess is Gus Frerotte, burind under the Titan's defense. Kearse, Haynesworth and Vanden Bosh aren't far away. I think that's Keith Bulluck in there on top of Frerotte; I can't be sure though.
This is an interesting sequence leading up to Frerotte's injury, late in the 4th quarter. The Vikes are pinned on their 2-yard line, #12 is deep in his end zone..he had three chances to work his way out of trouble.
On this aborted pass, there's no gain or loss.
Frerotte takes the snap..
..gets his pass away. That ball on it's way to Nick Harper, for the interception. But......Frerotte is injured. No more plays for him.
Later, Chris Johnson runs in his second TD.
Oh, did I mention Tarvarious Jackson came in, and got sacked too? Kearse and Haynesworth shared the honors.
Great game.
The fans booed the refs, for a bogus call on Kyle Vanden Bosh (Frerotte is a skilled actor, and boo-hooed his way into a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty that riled Fisher and the fans. I love it when Fish gets worked up..)
I looked for Vince Young on the sidelines, pre-game. He was no where to be seen. The guy I saw last week, thought was VY? Nope. He never touched the field last week. He was suppoesed to be down there this week (hopefully holding a clipboard, and learning something from Kerry Collins) but, no, I don't think he was there.
Maybe he was working in the booth. Dunno. His not being there, not a good thing, really.
Extras
Winning hairstyle of the game...

Sad, sad day after the game for these Vikings fans.
I saw more Vikings fans today than any of the other sort of visiting fan at the previous home games this year. But, the next game, with Indy, will bring out the Vols faithful. All they have left to run on this season is memories. Such is the fate of the NFL's minor league teams...their best players never can come back. Give it up, VOLs fans, Peyton's gone forever. So's Fulmer, after this season.
(BTW, speaking of confused fans, How in the hell could this guy stand wearing that silly hothat for some three hours, in the direct sun?)

Oh, hey, shout out to dmac720 at myspace dot com. Nice enought to pose for this shot, with some...well-dressed Titans fans. (At least those headdresses will radiate the heat!)

Top-shelf margaritas.. )

My signature end-of-the-line boat shot.

Next home game, 4 weeks! away. Monday Night Football vs. Indianapolis.
