Three Goofballs, with the loves of their lives

'McNair's Law': news to a lot of people (including me, I suppose). Former Titan (and now Baltimore Raven) made the mistake of coming back to Nashville, where he had escaped a DUI conviction once (probably making a lot of friends at the Metro Nashville Police Department in the process), and allowed his Brother in Law to drive his truck...intoxicated.

So the MNPD dusted off a (well-used? wouldn't think so...) law, formery known as the "DUI Owner Law" (now known as McNair's Law) and slammed Steve in the Pokie. Quoth the story...
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the 31-year-old Cartwright was driving McNair's 2003 Dodge pickup truck at 45 mph in a 35 mph zone with McNair as a passenger.

Officer Harold Taylor pulled over Cartwright and McNair and detected an "obvious odor of alcohol" and also noticed that Cartwright's eyes were "red and glassy." Cartwright admitted to Taylor he drank at least two beers earlier in the evening. A field sobriety task was administered to Cartwright and the results indicated impairment as Cartwright was taken into custody for DUI. He was asked to undergo a breath alcohol test and he refused.

Since McNair was the owner of the truck and a passenger, he also was charged with DUI.
The old 'couple beers, orificer...' story didn't work.

Moral of the story: Steve, you beat the rap once, don't come back here now and press your luck...you're not a Titan. You walked away, so do your drinking in Baltimore.

What's going to happen to Steve? Maybe he will get lucky, again...
Each year roughly 100 people are charged with DUI even though they are not driving. Whether or not these individuals have been drinking or are impaired at all is not even at issue. They are charged with allowing an impaired person to drive an automobile which is owned by them while they are a passenger. This is known as “DUI owner.” These are the cases most likely to be dismissed, nolled or retired.
What do I care? He's a Raven.

In Atlanta, QB Michael Vick's been caught in another itch fest. Before, he was sued for giving up a case of Herpes Simplex to his girlfriend; this time, the only thing scratchin' is Arthur Blank's head, wondering why his star quarterback's house is full of some 70-odd fighting dogs...that Vick claimed he had no knowledge of, that was his cousin's racket. Really, Mr. Vick...
"He knows what's going on in that house in Virginia,'' one source said. "There's not a doubt in my mind he's involved with it.'' The other source cited Vick's longtime "affinity'' for the dog-fighting subculture, and expressed certainty that Vick was aware of what was happening at the house.
I guess fleas make up the posse for Vick, much like Strippers do for Pacman. One bit of news released today...it seems Commissioner Goodell didn't just fall off the turnip wagon. He pulled a pretty good little trick to get Pac to own up to visiting a strip club in New York City, the day before he popped into Goodell's office to discuss his wrongdoing, including, among other things, his Strip Club fiasco in Las Vegas, where he caused Tom Urbanski to get shot and paralyzed for life. I guess Pac didn't realize that Club Security is 'Out to Get Him™', as he's said of the media, police, fans, and whoever else notices his thoughtless lifestyle. Pac was spotted in a NYC strip club, and club security called NFL security, who informed the Commissioner, who set a neat little trap for Pac:
According to these sources, Goodell asked Jones what he was doing to help himself to change his lifestyle. Jones gave a lot of the right answers, such as volunteering that he was going to avoid the nightclub scene.

The commissioner asked him if the self-imposed ban included strip clubs. Jones said yes.

Goodell then asked Jones the last time he had visited a strip club.

Jones became a bit fidgety, perhaps suspicious that the commissioner was on to him, before he answered, "A day ago," sources said.
Gotta be a chessplayer. I like this Commissioner already.

So, Pac gets to meet him again tomorrow, to beg clemency. This new bit of info was 'released' today. I wonder what the outcome of that meeting will be like? If I was Pac, I'd just stay home. Go out, buy something nice for his mom...

I w0nder, if for Mother's day, Pac's going to get his mother Deborah stoned? He's done it before, hasn't he? You never can tell for sure what kind of stunt he's going to pull next.

Commissioner, with the heaping helping of stupidity you've had placed on your plate today, I hope you make it short with Pac tomorrow. I believe your office is going to be a popular stopping point for these overgrown juvenile delinquents. Maybe we should call you Principal Goodell...
