I pulled up the Las Vegas Sun this morning with the sole purpose of checking the latest word on Pacman's problems. This article on Project Prevention's Barbara Harris caught my eye. Pac will have to wait.

Project Prevention pays addicted women (and men) ca$h to take birth control, or complete sterilization procedures. For long-term birth control shots (Depo-Provera, lasts 3 month) the addict gets $200; for a tubal ligation, a $300 one-time (after the procedure) cash infusion. Men get $300 for a vasectomy. What do you need to qualify? Papers proving you're a loser addicted individual who really doesn't need to have six or eight kids anyways...mug shots, arrest records, whatever paper trail is proof that you should re-think children at this time. (Probably more paper than Tennessee wanted to give out a driver's liscense to illegal immigrants...)
"There is nothing positive that comes to a woman who gives birth to eight addicted babies. These kids are born with the cards stacked against them. The cycle just repeats itself."
Of course, there are adversaries to this program. Any liberal who sees who funds this program (Robert Scaife, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, and a biggie who's unamed) will immediately send a moonbat wacko. Why should any conservatives get in the way of a good abortion? Why shouldn't the child be conceived, grow to say, 7 or eight months, and then pull the plug? That way, a good abortion doctor gets to keep his practice, and the liberals can feel good about their funding.

There are arguments about 'The New Eugenics!'. Those arguments are short-sighted; eugenics as culminated in atrocities by Hitler was a wide-spread movement by scientists during the early 20th century that resulted not only in the Holocaust but thousands of unfortunate sterilizations by court order in the U.S. This program is completely voluntary, and has the benefit, again, of preventing abortions. If a woman is not 'far gone' enough to get the shots or the IUD implacements ($200) then there won't be any sterilization. She can get help, and return to the real world, then resume life with an option to have kids...the right way.

Is the program racist? No, more whites have opted in than blacks and hispanics combined. Damn, another liberal rug jerked out from under them...

So, I'll have to support this program. Imagine that...choosing an option that, instead of killing a fetus (who might just be a valid human some day), gives a woman a choice to 'opt out', and do the thing that affects only her individual self...
"If you oppose what we do, if you believe these women have a right to keep popping out babies," Harris said, "then you better be ready to raise some yourself."
