The ineffective and weak Taliban again resorted to suicide tactics to terrorize and murder those who are in the way of their mindless philosphy. The target was Dick Cheny...
These suicide bombers...there is little in Western culture that allows us to relate to their attacks (except the slow death afforded cigarette smokers; that being the only acceptable form of suicide still practiced in America, but that's another post) and, given the worthlessness of most of these attacks, we wonder how adults sponsoring these children attackers can sleep at night.
When the suicide kids, or the older Mohammed Atta types, decide death is an acceptable expression of their hatred and mindset, they give up life on Earth for a promise of something better...and I won't use the 72 virgin canard, because I would hope that at some level, at least the Attas figure that's not logical. This Afghan taliban kid probably was worked up and promised a great afterlife; and who knows? maybe his instructors believe that. But you, and I, know better. The thought of pushing "everything you are, and everything you ever will be" up and out in a millisecond's blast, with no way of knowing, later, if you were successful or futile (as most of these are becoming, now, at least as far as US Military targets are concerned).
This operation was futile, for the Taliban. Sure, they overcame some in the local population of Afghanis, but they've lost one of their soldiers, one who will never trouble us again...nor spread his obviously weak and faulty DNA around. Cleansing the gene pool, one fool at a time. But, when breeding is intent only on multiplying the population, then the Islamicists can spare a few dullards, I suppose.
Let's hope his futility was such that no US Soldier was lost in this typically Islamic, Cowardly attack.
A purported Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousef Ahmadi, said Cheney was the target of the attack, which Ahmadi said was carried out by an Afghan, Mullah Abdul Rahim from Logar province.The suicide child, of course, was unable to comprehend the security protecting a US Base, especially one that is guesting the VP.
"When he realized he would not be able to get onto the base he attacked the local population."Well, I guess when suicide is your goal, and you've worked yourself into a mindset where there is no going back, then even if your target is supposed to be the Vice President of the United States of America, you'll settle for whatever other option presents itself.
Associated Press reporters at the scene said they had seen at least eight bodies in black body bags and wooden coffins being carried from the base area to the market, where hundreds of Afghans had gathered to mourn.We know that these aren't US Soldiers, carried off the base. Hopefully, none were killed or injured.
