Ray Stevens has been around forever, or so it seems. I'm remembering his funny songs from the '70's, including "The Streak", a big-time hit, and "Mississippi Squirrel Revival". Comedy gold.

This is his first foray into politics. It's now or never, Ray; things aren't looking so good for this little country.

Seems pretty spry at 71, doesn't he?

Newsbusters has the transcript of Ray Stevens' interview with FNC's Bill O'Reilly from Friday night. A teaser...
O'REILLY: Now, in the Clinton administration you didn't have the, it seems that would be, that would be your turf there, Mr. Stevens. You know what I'm talking about?

STEVENS: Well, yeah, it would. It should have been, and I apologize for being silent during that time. But we, the people, have awakened.
Give Ray a break. Head over to Ray Stevens dot com and buy this itune.

Anyone who stands up and tells this current far-left Congress and Prezzidint exactly what they need to hear, and does so with a sense of humor, is all right with me.

Can you believe the utter hypocrisy of these bastiches? Obama first said, in 2003, he was for a single-payer healthcare plan. Now, because he's being called on that by his own peeps, he wants to know who is dissenting.

After running one of the most corrupt campaigns in American history (ACORN, so-called 'grassroots' community organizing), after refusing to release his school records and other requested information, after lying about his accomplishments and his associations with known terrorists, one who may have ghost-authored his 'autobiography', after giving ACORN and various other far-Left-leaning Community Organizing vote-manufacturing overseas-donation-accepting organs of CHANGE the nod and then funding their continuing efforts to further rig elections and re-elections, we hear the blatant hypocrisy of Obama and his minions "these Rethuglican - Conservative protests are orchestrated and manufactured!"

What, Democrat-majority azzholes, you think you're the only party who can be allowed to have protests? Your well-nurtured dogs, during the Bush years, threw rocks, burned and shat on flags, screamed and yelled profanities, and were in my estimation treasonous.

When Bush was in charge, did you leftists not say "dissent is the highest form of patriotism"? Why can't Conservatives exercise their rights too? Or is that reserved for you left-leaning scum-sucking un-American constitution-hating crowds who would like nothing less than a fascist government with no dissent allowed whilst we descend into a socialist hell?

Obama wants to know who is bashing his Healthcare takeover (nothing more than another super-entitlement, forever looting the successful plan. He's even set up a "tell me dot gov" e-mail so as to find out who is against him. Did Bushitler and Cheney and Rove ever set up a "tell us who the traitors are!" website or e-mail account, as Obama has?

Do you liberals realize what you've put in power?

You've installed your own worst fears: an authoritarian tyrant with Dreams of his Father. Who was, by the way, a full-blown Communist.

An excellent essay posted by Ric Locke over at the PW Pub that I read this morning brings to mind a letter Thomas Babington Macaulay wrote to Henry S. Randall, where Macaulay is predicting the future of America, pointing out some of the pitfalls of our democratically-styled government (and predicts that, given our constitution, America will eventually fall to barbarians.)

"Your fate I believe to be certain, though it is deferred by a physical cause. As long as you have a boundless extent of fertile and unoccupied land, your labouring population will be far more at ease than the labouring population of the old world; and, while that is the case, the Jeffersonian polity may continue to exist without causing any fatal calamity.

"But time will come when New England will be as thickly peopled as old England. Wages will be low, and will fluctuate with you as with us. You will have your Manchesters and Birminghams, and in those Manchesters and Birminghams, hundreds of thousands of artisans will assuredly be sometimes out of work. Then, your institutions will be fairly brought to the test. Distress everywhere makes the laborer mutinous and discontented, and inclines him to listen with eagerness to agitators who tell him that it is a monstrous iniquity that one man should have a million while another cannot get a full meal.

...

"...I cannot help forbodeing the worst. It is quite plain that your government will never be able to restrain a distressed and discontented majority...The day will come when....a multitude of people, none of whom has had more than half a breakfast, or expect to have more than half a dinner, will chose a Legislature....On one side is a statesman preaching patience, respect for vested rights...On the other is a demagogue ranting about the tyranny of capitalists....and asking why anybody should be permitted to drink Champagne and to ride in a carriage, while thousands of honest folks are in want of necessities..."
This letter, written in 1857, seems to exactly define the politics of our friends on the Left, who are always overstating the minor distresses of our nation, pointing out the goods and privileges of our successful and wealthy (ignoring, of course, that the overall standards of living in the U.S. are the highest they've ever been, and higher than all but the Dubais of the world) for the puerile purpose of securing votes that will put into power these modern Democrats. Who are antithesis, it seems, to our original constitution.

If the Democrat's policies are put into place as they want them (the cradle-to-grave sustenance they presume the majority of Americans so desire, the increased taxation of the wealthy based on material jealousy, the foreign policy based on "what the Rest of the World thinks of us!") there would eventually be a collapse of capitalism. Socialism, as Leftists want it, means only one thing... "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." "The goal of socialism is communism. " "The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation. "

Enough Marx and Lenin. Back to Macaulay...
"Your constitution is all sail and no anchor.... Either some Caesar or Napoleon will seize the reins of government with a strong hand; or your republic will be...laid waste by barbarians in the twentieth Century as the Roman Empire was in the fifth;—with this difference, that the Huns and Vandals who ravaged the Roman Empire came from without, and that your Huns and Vandals will have been engendered within your own country by your own institutions."
Let's just hope that we can keep the enablers of these modern-day Huns and Vandals out of office.

john murtha contribution poster

This from the Democratic Chairman of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee: "We can't win militarily". We. can't. win.

We've heard that from Leftist Democrats for years, now, and from everyone else who seeks to gain politically from every problem or casualty our military forces suffer (including Ron Paul)...everyone who puts their BDS above rightful support for the troops.

We have a badly-needed defense appropriations bill that's withered in the House because, even with the successes of the Surge, Democrats are withholding funds, basically not supporting our troops. The fact is, WE ARE NOT LOSING THE WAR!

"The trend toward better security is indisputable," writes the Associated Press. U.S. military and civilian deaths have declined sharply. Anbar Province is pacified, Iraqis are streaming back to Baghdad, and al Qaeda in Iraq is on the run. Time's Joe Klein, a critic of the administration, admits the gains and advises Democrats not to try to cut off funds. Conservative columnist Tony Blankley claims "a very real expectation that next year the world may see a genuine, old-fashioned victory in the Iraq war."
But from John Murtha, the bulldog sockpuppet for Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi...
"Look at all the people that have been displaced, all the [lost] oil production, unemployment, all those type of things," "We can't win militarily." "To change the political law, it doesn't seem to me you need the military stability,"
So, instead of a clean appropriations bill, John, Nancy and Harry want to micro manage the President's capability to conduct the war by cutting funds to the troops. There's support, can't you tell?

So what options do we have to fund the forces in Iraq? Layoff and furloughs for civilians here in the States...
The funding standoff will force the Pentagon to make budget cuts at bases in the U.S. to cover the costs of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, including sending furlough notices to as many as 100,000 civilian employees, White House press secretary Dana Perino said. She said the furlough notices could start going out before the Democrat-led Congress returns from a two-week Thanksgiving break "We are calling on Congress ... to send the president supplemental war funding without arbitrary surrender dates and without micromanaging the war before they leave for their next vacation, which is going to be around the Christmas holidays," Mrs. Perino said.

There you go.

One thing for certain...we can't win without the troops. We can win with support from Americans here at home; start by calling your vacationing Congressional Representatives and telling them to get back to work and Support the Troops.

And that means ignoring John Murtha and the rest of the losers on the Hill.

"I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield
Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station
And the preacher said, you know you always have the
Lord by your side..."

Bakersfield, California. America's largest High School district. Somehow, the Bakersfield High School Trustees have defied their local Leftist/Liberal cabal and voted to display not only "IN GOD WE TRUST" but other historical documents from America's past...you know, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights...all of those things that are unacceptable to today's nuanced, God-hating, patriotism-denying liberals. Those who love sin, in whatever form and fashion sin comes in, because the message against sin is delivered by those with faith and family values.

From the story...
The classroom displays were first suggested by the non-profit group In God We Trust — America Inc...

"I encouraged the trustees to put this on the agenda," she said. "It's very important. We need to promote patriotism and promote it in our schools. We can’t just assume that the younger generations are going to have that strong love for God and their country the way the older generations do."
...

"It’s not political. It’s not religious. It’s patriotism," Sullivan said. "American patriotism is love of God and love of country. It's pride in our country."
Patriotism that's denied, even while we're at war. BDS-sick liberals have more angst against our President and soldiers than against our common enemy.

From SondraK's hometown of Olympia, Washington...a military supply ship docks in a civilian port bringing the troop's supplies home, and the 'tards are out there protesting! One comment from that site...
"Protesting are soldiers is wrong period! Protesting them with your little picket signs shows the world that there is no distinction between your dislike for the war and your disrespect for the troops."
Isn't that clear enough, for even the farthest-leftard?

Iowahawk has posted, in it's entirety, a children's book from 1942 entitled "My Book to Help America".

Page after page, this book tells the youngest Americans (in 1942) how their behavior and their attitude, their savings to buy war bond stamps, even their conservation will help America Win the War.

Can you see even today's hedonistic adults (much less our youth) taking to such a message? What, us give up the right to hedonism we're entitled to?

Please go visit Iowahawk's post, and see what we're missing, today, in the war we're waging.

It's a shame that in this great country it takes a vote from School Trustees to post the documents that have made this country strong. We need every man, woman and child to find a way to pull together, or sooner than later we're going to split apart, with no Lincoln to mend us.
"Some schools have gotten so lax as to not be pledging allegiance to the flag everyday," Sullivan said. "We can easily get out of the habit of doing good things. (Patriotism) is something that continually needs to be taught."
Because if we don't...
