Sea turtles died while Obama cracked jokes at Sycophant Fest 2010 -- Sycophant Fest 2010 went off without a hitch this year, according to Twitter. Pres. Barack Obama made a distasteful joke about predator drones, but it was OK because Jeremy Renner, star of The Hurt Locker, laughed at the joke, and he is as close as most of the WHCA Dinner attendees have ever come to a real soldier.

While Obama was schmoozing with the the throne-sniffers and taking pictures with airheads, the Gulf of Mexico was turning into an ecological disaster that will all but destroy the area's marine economy. Granted, the president managed to tear himself away from Washington on Sunday, but only because someone pointed out to him that this whole oil thing could have a big impact on the cost of shrimp cocktails for Sycophant Fest 2011. And let's not even get going on the so-called journalists who live for this event.

Carol Joynt, one of the few remaining high priestesses of Georgetown, put it best: "Wouldn’t the lavish spending have been better used on reporters who right now might be unearthing the truth of what went on at Goldman Sachs, or giving fresh compelling insight into how we get out of two wars, or simply digging at some well-hidden government secret?"

I’ve sometimes indulged in rough humor, and pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable. I acknowledge that I’ve offended people’s sensibilities. I just can’t see myself making that kind of a joke, though, even among friends, even among drunk friends, much less in the person of the POTUS to a national television audience.

Hmmph. Imagine had George Bush said something of this nature.

Face it, retards are funny, especially when it comes to sports. And they have uncertain parentage.
