Tennesse Titans win their Season Opener against Jacksonville...but, with Vince Young, we have more maturity problems.
Posted by kotang at 5:18 AMThe Titans won their season opener here in fine defensive form. They may not have the legs to carry them forward, though...Vince Young has a probable MCL tear. Not as serious as the knee injury Tom Brady suffered, that will knock New England out of contention as one of the NFL's 'elite' teams... as much as I dislike the Patriots, I hate to see an injury take them out.
Final score, Titans 17, Jaguars 10. Play-by-play here.
What kills me about Vince Young is his continuing...pussification. After his second thrown interception (and believe me, he was roundly booed by everyone in attendance) he sat on the bench and wouldn't come back onto the field...until, I suppose, Heimerdinger or Jeff Fisher threatened to kick his candy arse. Read his body language...the kid acted like a crybaby, a wuss.
So, he goes back out there, and is promptly injured. A shame, that. But he didn't want to be there in the first place.
Kerry Collins comes in as relief, journeyman that he is, and quickly arranges the winning TD drive.
The defense is nearly perfect. Big Al Haynesworth, speaking after the game, remembered only the last play. Probable slight concussion, there.
My Monday morning take: Jeff Fisher should've pulled VY after that 2nd interception. Because VY didn't have the will to continue after that. Why send him back on the field? Come on, Jeff, you pulled Steve McNair after some questionable plays. Vince is not Steve McNair. Pulling Vince would've prevented that injury.
Oh well, next week, Cincy. The Titans got pulverized last year by the Bengals. Maybe Kerry Collins will emerge as the team leader Vince Young just can't seem to become.

Scored in the 2nd Quarter on a short pass from Vince Young.
