Country singer Mindy McCready kept quiet today about a New York Daily News report that she and Roger Clemens had a decade-long relationship that began when she was a 15-year-old aspiring singer and the pitcher was a Boston Red Sox ace.

McCready gave no interviews. “I will take credit or blame for this,” said McCready’s Nashville-based management consultant John Dotson. “We felt like the wise move on our part at this point was to consult with our attorney.

“Some attorney’s going to put a couple of kids through college with this. It’s a mess,” Dotson said.

Clemens was 28 and a married father of two when he first met McCready, the newspaper reported.

Clemens' lawyer, Rusty Hardin, confirmed a long-term relationship but told the newspaper it was not sexual.

“He flatly denies having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her,” Hardin said. “He's considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had a sexual relationship with her.”

Yeah. And Roger's never had a razor temper, either. Nor has he ever been ejected from a game. Remember that thrown broken bat, at Mike Piazza, during the 2000 World Series?

Hmmmph. But, I'm just jealous.
