Titans-Panthers 11/4/07

Tennessee Titans (6-2) 20 - Carolina Panthers (4-4) 7

Another strong performance from the defense, led by Al Hanesworth's 3 sacks of hapless David Carr. Tennessee had 7 sacks overall, with one on the first defensive play of the game. That really set the tone for Mr. Carr, who has a history of eating dirt at the hand of the Titans, going back to his time with Houston. Tennessee had more sacks today than anytime since they spanked Carr in Houston in 2005. Carr was the first-pick draft choice in 2002, but was addled by a poor offensive line in Houston. Fans there hated him, he was released in 2006. Fans in Houston wanted Vince Young as Carr's replacement. So Sorry! Carr's days as an NFL Quarterback are numbered.

Vince Young and Lendale White each ran in a touchdown, and Rob Bironas hit two field goals. Travis LaBoy had a sack and an interception.

No touchdown passes from Vince Young. After the first quarter, the offense went back to that lackluster mode we've seen for the last several games, including two interceptions...but Carolina was worse. Much, much worse.

Well, some photos...click on the ones you want to see, the way I uploaded them. Blogger is using placekeepers that aren't sized like I like 'em...

Vince Young runs in the first TD; untouched. Must've pushed that 'easy button' before this play.

Rob Bironas' extra point. Find the ball! Easier than last week's. But consistently through the uprights. Al delWHO?

First play for the Panthers, first sack for Albert Haynesworth. Kyle Vanden Bosh piles on top to make sure Carr stays down.

Justin Hartwig, the ex-Titan who plays center for the Panthers, ran his mouth all week about how he was going to put Al (and the Titans) in their place (there was never any love lost between the two when Hartwig played here, and Hartwig is still annoyed with the Titan's management for letting him loose in 2005.)
I guess that didn't happen, now did it Justin? Slinking your way back to Carolina, a bit less mouth-running after this game...
After the first TD run from Vince, the rest of his runs were non-consequential. Here he's running off the field.

There were several obvious runs that Vince didn't take. I wonder if part of Vince's maturation is some sort of halter on his scramble style of running? Maybe that's for the best; scrambling QB's tend to find injury. VY has to learn the pocket passing game.

Lendale White got exactly 100 yards, and this rushing TD. Hell of a draft pick he's turned out to be...
The rest of these pics are self-explanatory for the most part. Or so I would hope....

Cheerleaders. Who Knew?

Well, here's a nice cold beer...

This is a snapshot of a snapshot artiste...

I've not seen better weather for a November game. Perfect, huh?

Vince Young, hairdresser?

A couple obligatory boat shots....

Framed by the mess that is our downtown 'art'...a crumpled and wadded mess of pigiron that might have been an Opryland Theme Park ride...

This is the fountain in front of the Schermerhorn. It's crooked; I fixed it. Sue me.

Last shot, the Bridge Cop. On that long-suffering horse. Give him a sugar cube, why dontcha?
