Why does Illegal Immigration exist in our country? Not just because the Federal Government is so lax in it's responsibility when it comes to border security (there is really no excuse for that, Uncle Sam), nor is it completely the lure of our culture (our streets aren't paved with gold, but it's a fact that our social programs, including our free Health Care, are worth crossing the Rio Grande or the Sonoran Desert for, especially if there isn't anyone there to say no...)
The main, most cited reason to come here is Jobs. Jobs provided by employers who want to minimize labor costs and benefits, and maximize profits.
It's simple Capitalism, and it works well. If Illegal Immigration hadn't become so widespread, and hadn't started costingCities and States Taxpayers major bucks, and if the Immigrants themselves had tried to assimilate, we could have gone on practically ignoring the influx. But, no, now Illegal Immigration (and the current 12-20 Million who are here, and don't want to leave) is the major issue in our political discourse (even eclipsing the Middle East wars, for a time). We have to change direction, at the Federal Level. But not everyone is waiting for Uncle Sam to wise up...
Look to Janet Napolitano to lead us. Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano just signed into Arizona law a tough new statute, cracking down on...illegal employers. Cracking down, hard, on the magnets that are drawing the crowds, the employers who have provided the jobs that illegals crave...
And this little side note on the picture...
The Republicans in Arizona have sponsored and directed this legislation, to the chagrin of Democrats. Legal challenges are already in the works...can't you just smell the ACLU lurking? I wonder what laws a challenge woud be based on... The Illegals are lawbreakers, the Employers are lawbreakers, now this bill just adds some teeth to existing laws...how can Democrats find ways to challenge it? And why should they want to? (Oh, I forgot...they want the illegal's votes, and Dems are embittered with hatred of anything not progressive to their continuing meltdown of values in our culture!)
Let's hope the challenges fail, and Arizona gets this bill on the books and working...so the rest of the country can learn how it's done.

Gov. Janet Napolitano on Monday signed sweeping legislation against employers of undocumented workers, targeting the state's market for illegal labor with what she called "the most aggressive action in the country."Lose your license, then if your greed doesn't subside, lose your bidness. I like this!
The penalty for violators: the suspension of a business license on the first violation and permanent revocation on a second, amounting to a death sentence for repeat offenders.
"It's monumental. It's a change from anything we've done in the past," said Speaker of the House Jim Weiers, R-Phoenix. "It's time for the states to start stepping up and stop waiting for Congress."There's a few flaws to work out of the law before it takes effect January 1, such as what to do if 'critical' businesses get targeted (Hospitals, Power Plants, Democratic voting rolls...) Guess what? There are critics to this plan!
But opposition to the new law was swift, led by Latino activists and the business community. Eight minutes after the governor's announcement that she had signed the bill, the Arizona Chamber of Commerce issued a statement calling it "a crippling blow to Arizona business.
State Reps. Ben Miranda (left) and Steve Gallardo, both Democrats, are unhappy with the governor's decision to sign the measure.
