Congress gave Petraeus until September to implement his Surge, and to try to salvage the fledging Iraqi nation from it's sure fate if we were to leave early: explosive civil discord, and a ripe plum for Iran and al Qaeda to take over.

The fight in Iraq, and Afghanistan, is not just a fight for the immediate future of those countries, but part of a larger conflict against the Islamic Radicals who will not, can not, stop their centuries-old conflict with those who are not like them. We've never seen Peace from Islam. There is always only death, killing, beheading, and struggle involved with that failed religion. A religion that was written by a Warrior, written to cause it's followers to be destined for eternal war, and, in it's current guise, suicidal war against innocents.

Can we, the United States, help ourselves by withdrawing from Iraq? At best, we would save some of our soldier's lives. That's the immediate goal, and is a worthy one. Our Soldiers deserve a Nation to be United Behind Them, while they are in combat. That's not the case now, obviously, the Left has done it's level best to destroy George Bush, and will sacrifice whatever and whoever it takes to do so.

If we pull out, there will be a cessation of War Casulties. For a while. To pull out now, early, without even allowing Petraeus's surge to work, will be to invite the resurgence of al Qaeda, in Iraq. When we pull out, Iran will go in, and we'll have to go back. al Qaeda will not hesitate to become the dominate force in Iraq, with Iran's aid, and will, from that vantage point, launch more attacks on non-Islamic nations. That means US, the Great Satan, and Israel, the Close Target.

This existential conflict is not going to end in our lifetimes. The war will not end until Islam is reformed, it's teeth pulled. That can only happen by opening Muslim Minds to the Outside World, to help the Citizens of these Muslim countries get past the limitations of the verbatim teachings of the Koran.

Sort of like...what we're attempting to do in Iraq, now, by helping the fledging, nascent Government there get control of it's borders and resources.

Do they need help? Yes.

Do Democrats want to win in 2008? Yes, and they will sacrifice a Nation, and our future, to do so...
