Well, the North American Union has been delayed, for a while.

WASHINGTON — A widely-criticized immigration reform bill died on a procedural motion in the Senate on Thursday night, but key negotiators are suggesting that it may live to see another day.

Republican Sens. Arlen Specter, Jon Kyl, Lindsey Graham and Mel Martinez were all upbeat after a vote to end debate failed 45-50, failing to reach the 60-vote threshold to move toward final passage.

We will have to keep an eye on this. So far, it's a victory for Mainstream Americans, regardless of party affiliation. BTW, both Tennessee Senators voted the way they should have. Good for them!

Reid said support for the bill exists across the country despite repeated polls showing growing opposition to the thrust of the bill and many of its specifics — particularly on the issues of legalization for illegals here now, a guest worker program and chain migration.

Where is the support, Mr. Reid? Imagining things, again. Support is strengthing against this McCain-Kennedy nightmare, after people realize that illegals become legal the minute it's signed, and most won't take the 'path to citizenship' that would send them back over the border, fine them $500 or so. Because the majority don't want to be citizens. They just want the benefits, without the promise to obey laws, pay taxes, etc., that Citizens are expected to do. Gimme, Gimme, but no expect us to assimilate, whatever that means.

In today's Real Nashville Newspaper (I still refuse to read The Pravda, after the Concealed Carry Flap) an editorial opinion-writer wants to keep this bill alive...

"A far-reaching immigration bill suffered a surprising set-back Thursday when the U.S. Senate failed to pass a procedural motion to limit debate on the legislation, the first sign to a lack of support."

What's the surprise, editor?

This issue has galvanized both sides of the political aisle, and the winner, so far, is the American Citizen, including, but not limited to, newly-minted citizens who followed the rules and jumped the hoops to become lawful citizens. These people we continue to need. What we don't need are the undocumented floods that are ignoring our laws and sovereignty, refusing to assimilate, and some are even making noises about assimilating our country back to 'Hispania'..see LA, Southern California, Southern Arizona, etc.

If we really want to keep our country stable, and not form a 'North American Union' (the goal of Bush, McCain, Kennedy, and many others) then we need to take steps to protect our sovereignty. If our country matters at all, anymore, then watch this fight continue.

You'll know who wins, by the outcome. It might not be 'us'...
