Well, this didn't come out today, on Sunday, but after this hell week, it should have...
Or, more precisely, the separation of Church from State is directly related to the decline in Morality amongst the population, and the ascendance of evil.
Many people believe that the State's laws, if based in any way on things biblical, shouldn't apply in our times, since obvioulsly the founding fathers slammed that door. That's a mistaken belief, but those arguments are not for here. We do have a responsiblity to keep morality in our government, whether or not that morality is also written in the Bible, as 10 commandments or 8 Beatitudes or just accumulated wisdom from centuries of trial and error.
If the secularists get their way and toss religion out of our country's laws and government, how do they then replace the morality that will go with it? You can't tell me this statement has no merit: there are people on this planet who, without belief in an ultimate authority who might just rap their knuckles for eternity, turn to a 'dark side' and defy the state's laws and never think beyond their lifespan?
And, if there is no 'promise' for life past our short time here, what does that leave to people who would like to think past 60, 70, or more or less, years? Are we truly here just to breed, greed and be buried?
So, where's this bit of reflection coming from? Well, besides being Earth Day, today is my...bday.
(And Jack Nicholson's, Peter Frampton)
Hmmmph. Too many candles. I'm going to have to give up some major Carbon Offsets if I have a cake...
