This is a good thing! Our Currency (at least up until the latest changes by the Treasury) is dull and boring compared to that of, say, Zimbabwe.

But now, everything has to change. A Judge has decreed that all U.S. Currency must be changed to allow the blind to discriminate between denominations.
"Of the more than 180 countries that issue paper currency, only the United States prints bills that are identical in size and color in all their denominations," Robertson wrote in his ruling. "More than 100 of the other issuers vary their bills in size according to denomination, and every other issuer includes at least some features that help the visually impaired."
Yes, it's a good thing...for most people. There are some issues that we have to look out for during this change...

For years, the Special Interest Groups have hated seeing the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST" on our coin and currency. These bozos here actually advocate a rubber stamp for currency

They are joined by morons here, and an athiest with too much money lurking here.

On the coins, the Godless heathens have won a battle...the new coins are hiding "IN GOD WE TRUST" ...
"...the smooth rim will now hold such features as the mintmark, the date of striking, and the mottos “In God We Trust” and "E Pluribus Unum.”

These coins will hit the stop 'n rob near you in 2007...

So, keep an eye out for that.

Other worries? Well, if the shape and size of the bill is changed, your local car wash is going to have to spend major $$$ to change out the bill changers. That's not nearly as worrisome as the banks and merchants who have to, you know, count mass quantities of the stuff. It's going to cost someone a lot of time and effort to change all of this stuff out.

This is something to keep an eye on. And on the peeps who will want to politicize the currency and remove even more of our country's heritage and upbringing from our day-to-day existance.

Update 2/23/07
The new coins are out, and I've handled a few. Yes, they are identical in size and color to the infamous 'Gold Sacagawea', that boring coin the US Mint decided in 1998 was better than the Eisenhower Dollar (in that the smaller size reflected the decreasing value of the US Dollar, or, more likely, the price Lewis & Clark paid to 'explore' Sacagawea)....
"I hate to burst your bubble, but Sacagawea was no guide or translator. She was just a common filthy street whore. Lewis and Clark bought her off of that Charbonneau guy, dressed her up like an Indian, and "explored" her rotten every mile of the Missouri and back. The whole "Indian Guide" story? Just a ruse for getting the government to pick up the expense.." (From 'The Dollar Coin Dolly' podcast...)
I can't stand the size of the US Dollar coin. Why did we have to make it so small? Was the old 'Ike Dollar' too much to handle? Why is the $1 coin smaller than the 50¢ coin?

And why is "In God We Trust" in tiny, unreadable script on the edge of the new coin?
