UPDATE 12/04/06 7:00AM

John McClains gives an excellent analysis of the QB controversy in Houston...given the Titans and Vince Young travel to Houston next weekend, and the Fan Hate for David Carr is deep enough to compare to the hate for Bud Adams (well, maybe not...), this next meeting with the Texans is already ratcheting up the budding rivalry between the two teams. Remember, the last meeting was a sloppy win for the Titans, with Sage Rosenfels relieving Carr mid-game. Won't happen this time, Sage is injured.

And from Mike Florio (whose posts can't be hotlinked...Mike, get with the program!)
this blurb on Jeff Fisher:

FISHER SAFE IN NASHVILLE
Even before Sunday's stirring, come-from-behind win over the Indianapolis Colts, Titans owner Bud Adams had decided to keep coach Jeff Fisher for 2007, and beyond.

The Titans hold an option on Fisher for 2007, and the contract requires him to be paid the equivalent of the top five highest-paid coaches in the NFL. A league insider tells us that the Titans will extend Fisher's contract beyond 2007.

Fisher has been the franchise's coach for so long that it was known as the Houston Oilers when he was hired.

And the retention of Fisher doesn't mean that G.M. Floyd Reese will be released. The thinking is that Reese, whose contract expires after the 2006 season, also will be retained.

It's a stunning change of direction for a franchise that was floundering early in the season. But since the decision was made to insert Vince Young as the starting quarterback, the Titans have surged, and are now only two games under .500.

Fisher would have been a hot commodity, if he had been released by the Titans. He is well respected in league circles, and the rumor mill had connected him to possible openings with the Cowboys, Redskins, and Steelers.

Hmph. So much for firing Jeff Fisher, huh?

Last week, Eli Manning lost in a 4th Quarter shocker; this weekend, Peyton followed little brother to the woodshed. And history was made again this weekend, with Rob Bironas' Franchise record-setting 60-yard kick.

I have a few pictures to share...imagine that!

First, the Kick..

Somewhere in this mess is the ball...but I can't find it.

A very big factor in this game was the wind...and Jeff Fisher's decision to kick with the wind in the 4th quarter. It's a good thing the Titans lost the coin toss, or this game could very well have ended differently...

On to other important stuff...it was a cold, windy day, and as the game progressed, the temperature fell.

Before the game, some Titans Cheerleaders put on a warm-up show...

Did I mention the Cold yet??

Before the game, Peyton Manning greeted the game officials...

During the game (while I was in the john) PacMan took some kind of hit, and was carted off the field.

Everyone was doom and gloom, but he showed back up after halftime, and even ran the ball on the offense! Good for him, finally making a name for himself on the field...

Off field stuff:
Bellsouth's BAT tower is looking good...

Santa gave up the sleigh today for a boat ride...

Nashville looks pretty good, huh?

Parting Shot

I felt sorry for this poor guy...sitting at the foot of the walk bridge, both before and after the game.

If I had had a sugar cube, I'd have put it on his tongue...
