My Haynesworth anger is subsiding; and unfortunately so is Boating Weather. I've hit the water again, and so have a few photos worth posting.

Here's some Heron shots from the last trip. I wasn't the only one out there early Sunday morning taking pictures of herons; there was another guy with a tripod-mount lens taking what must be breathtaking photos of these beautiful birds from a stock-still rest. My photos are all hand-held, and from a moving boat, so forgive any flaws due to boat rocking...but I have the advantage of mobility, and can get some of these shots that a landlubber never can.

If you look closely at the next two (click on them!) you can see the disturbance of the water as the wingtips touch...

Flying off to another pose elsewhere. Note that fall is gradually coming to some of the trees.

Lookin' for a handout? No, this guy will never be on welfare..

Here's a snow-white Heron, an albino? Another Heron was driving this one away. We can't have any display of racism (plus I missed the shot of the fight...)

The I-840 Bridge. Looks small in this shot? Check out the reflections.

This photo gives a human perspective of the size of the bridge. Note the inspector pointing out the water level marks.

The next 4 shots were made by me with a small, ASA 800 waterproof (disposable but reuseable) Kodak camera. This is a unique perspective, from the wake. The pics were scanned in by my trustworthy Epson ES-1000C scanner, running on the unheard-of today SCSI interface. Scanned at 320 dpi, you can see the 800 speed film's grain, unfortunately...

There are more trips planned, and we'll get some more shots of the Fall as it bears down inexorably on our little corner of the world...
