A three-day, 100K mountain bike ride in back country Texas to help raise awareness for Wounded Warriors, an organization dedicated to supporting war-wounded veterans. From Air Force Times...
TERLINGUA, Texas — Kenneth Butler touched the metal end of his prosthetic arm instinctively as he recalled the horrors he witnessed in Iraq.

Four years after losing his limb when his vehicle was hit by a bomb in Baghdad, the retired Army staff sergeant got his first chance this week to meet former President George W. Bush during a three-day bike ride in West Texas attended by more than a dozen other wounded veterans and cycling legend Lance Armstrong.

Bush rode in the event for a chance to meet with veterans and thank them for their sacrifice. But for Butler, he holds no ill-will toward the man who sent thousands of Americans to war in 2003.

“I feel his compassion,” the retired parachute infantry squad leader said Wednesday, with a note of melancholy. “It feels like he really cares about us.”

Bush and 15 wounded veterans were joined Wednesday in the last leg of a 62.5-mile ride through the rugged desert trails of Big Bend National Park by Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France champion.

Although Bush acknowledges struggling to keep up during the trek, he said he relished the opportunity.

“As a commander in chief, it was my decision to put them in harm’s way in the first place,” he said. “I feel a special bond toward them and I want them to know I’ll never forget them.”
Good to see the 64-year old Bush is still active, and still has much class and dignity. Video here; h/t Theo Spark.

(Oh, that other guy who plays at 'president' (for now), not to be overshadowed, is practicing for his post-presidency mountain bike big adventure...) :D

President George W. Bush, 3/20/2003:

"My fellow citizens. At this hour, American and coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger.

"On my orders, coalition forces have begun striking selected targets of military importance to undermine Saddam Hussein's ability to wage war. These are opening stages of what will be a broad and concerted campaign.

"More than 35 countries are giving crucial support from the use of naval and air bases to help with intelligence and logistics to deployment of combat units.

"Every nation in this coalition has chosen to bear the duty and share the honour of serving in our common defense.

"To all the men and women of the United States armed forces now in the Middle East, the peace of a troubled world and the hopes of an oppressed people now depend on you. That trust is well placed.

"The enemies you confront will come to know your skill and bravery. The people you liberate will witness the honorable and decent spirit of the American military.

"In this conflict America faces an enemy that has no regard for conventions of war or rules of morality.

"Saddam Hussein has placed Iraqi troops and equipment in civilian areas, attempting to use innocent men, women and children as shields for his own military. A final atrocity against his people.

"I want Americans and all the world to know that coalition forces will make every effort to spare innocent civilians from harm.

"A campaign on the harsh terrain of the nation as large as California could be longer and more difficult than some predict and helping Iraqis achieve a united, stable and free country will require our sustained commitment.

"We come to Iraq with respect for its citizens, for their great civilization and for the religious faiths they practice.

"We have no ambition in Iraq except to remove a threat and restore control of that country to its own people.

"I know that the families of our military are praying that all those who serve will return safely and soon.

"Millions of Americans are praying with you for the safety of your loved ones and for the protection of the innocent.

"For your sacrifice you have the gratitude and respect of the American people and you can know that our forces will be coming home as soon as their work is done.

"Our nation enters this conflict reluctantly, yet our purpose is sure. The people of the United States and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an outlaw regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder.

"We will meet that threat now with our army, air force, navy, coastguard and marines so that we do not have to meet it later with armies of firefighters and police and doctors on the streets of our cities.

"Now that conflict has come, the only way to limit its duration is to apply decisive force and I assure you this will not be a campaign of half measures and we will accept no outcome but victory.

"My fellow citizens, the dangers to our country and the world will be overcome. We will pass through this time of peril and carry on the work of peace. We will defend our freedom. We will bring freedom to others and we will prevail.

"May God bless our country and all who defend her."

Barack Hussein Obama, 3/28/2011:

"Yeah, well, PRESENT!"

Well, of course they are. We just have to stop 'em from deploying and using the cursed things.
Al-Qaida is on the verge of producing radioactive weapons after sourcing nuclear material and recruiting rogue scientists to build "dirty" bombs, according to leaked diplomatic documents.

A leading atomic regulator has privately warned that the world stands on the brink of a "nuclear 9/11".

Security briefings suggest that jihadi groups are also close to producing "workable and efficient" biological and chemical weapons that could kill thousands if unleashed in attacks on the West.

Thousands of classified American cables obtained by the WikiLeaks website and passed to The Daily Telegraph detail the international struggle to stop the spread of weapons-grade nuclear, chemical and biological material around the globe.
What I think we have to do is pressure the billions of Islamic believers (those who are only concerned with practicing their 'Religion of Peace' peacefully) to step in and take care of their own extremist elements: al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, the 'Muslim Brotherhood', all the freak Ayatollahs and Imams who channel Islam to destructive ends. A forced 'reform', if you will

How do we get them to do so, you ask? Why, target that black rock in Mecca, of course. Hold Kaba Hostage. Kaba, the largest IDOL currently worshiped by the most people in the world.

If any nuclear weapon goes off in, say, Jerusalem, New York City, Paris, London, any western target, then we carpet-bomb Mecca into the stone age.

Got you attention yet, Islamicists? What goes around, and all of that?

UPDATE
Thomas Freidman, in today's New York Times, starts in again about how it's up to Israel to work in a Palestinian State, so as to appease the Islamicists (who now have another large player, Egypt, possibly now on the side of HATE ISRAEL!).

No. The only thing that will satisfy the Palestinian 'problem', as it is defined right now by these hateful Islamicists, is for Israel to not-exist. The notion of a non-existent Israel is preached by almost every Imam and Ayatollah who has voice of, who wields the power of Islam in his words. No, what must happen is for the Islamic faithful, all the billions of people worldwide who are members of that Religion of Peace, to force out those who bend their religion to terror and foment ongoing hatred against Israel.

The religion of Islam must be reformed, force-reformed if necessary (see above) so the Israelis can exist in peace in the Middle East.

Islam, and Muslims, must finally embrace their inner, and largely hidden, 'Religion of Peace'.

...video, the illegal release of which caused massive lefty butt-hurt.

First, the new Massive Attack "Atlas Air" video, an excellent bit of CGI that reminds me much of Pink Floyd's "The Wall - The Movie", only with ten times the animation quality. Remember the flying eagle that took a chunk of the living flesh of the earth in 'The Wall'? see if you aren't reminded of that.

Brand new Massive Attack official music video for "Atlas Air". Directed by Edouard Salier, the video for Massive Attack's Atlas Air is a CGI feast that explores the subject of rendition flights. It's a prequel to the headtrip of "Splitting the Atom". Their new album is called "Heligoland."
This next video, released by Wikileaks last April, explains the depicted Apache gunship engagement as follows...
Wikileaks has obtained and decrypted this previously unreleased video footage from a US Apache helicopter in 2007. It shows Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, driver Saeed Chmagh, and several others as the Apache shoots and kills them in a public square in Eastern Baghdad. They are apparently assumed to be insurgents. After the initial shooting, an unarmed group of adults and children in a minivan arrives on the scene and attempts to transport the wounded. They are fired upon as well. The official statement on this incident initially listed all adults as insurgents and claimed the US military did not know how the deaths ocurred. Wikileaks released this video with transcripts and a package of supporting documents on April 5th 2010 on http://collateralmurder.com
Certainly a shame when civilians get wasted, but we were are at war, and that means we kill people and break things.

Wrong place, wrong time. A shame, but look at human history going back; there's not any period of wartime when innocents stayed alive.

These journalists didn't take precautions, should've stayed with our soldiers, protected. Al Gore was a photographer during the Vietnam War. You can be sure he didn't stray very far from the guys with the M-16's. Stay smart, stay alive.

Cry all you like, lefties. You may soon get a chance to see this for yourself, close up and personal. One never knows when one's nation might collapse.

The Pakistan government in Islamabad shuts down NATO's supply convoys to their forces in Afghanistan. Then, the Paki Taliban sets about burning fuel trucks. All of this because our drones killed three Paki soldiers in a mistaken attack.

Tell me, why didn't someone anticipate this sort of retaliatory attack?

Who's running this flea circus anyways ?

 Nice.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal judge has tossed out most of the government's evidence against a terrorism detainee on grounds his confessions were coerced, allegedly by U.S. forces, before he became a prisoner at Guantanamo Bay.
Ace is decidedly unhappy...
I don't know what the Jackass In Chief will do. I know he doesn't dare risk his poll numbers crashing further after one after another terrorist is sprung by his moronic decisions. I guess I expect him to just hold these fellers indefinitely, or to... put them right back into the military tribunal system.
This particular detainee, Musa'abu Omar Al Madhwani, claims threats and harassment by evil U.S. forces caused him to confess to details of his becoming a trained al-Qaeda member (a stipulation that U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan said is likely truth) but his confessions as to the details are hereby thrown out. Not Judge Hogan's fault; he's doing as he should.

That legal response is perfectly fine and warranted if the offenses were committed by a US Citizen, on American soil or even by a non-US citizen on American soil, if that the offender is not considered an enemy combatant.

These 'criminals' (and their 'crimes') Obama wants to try using the U.S. Justice system are actually war crimes, needing to be tried in a military tribunal. Yes, that 'war criminal' distinction should also apply to Umar the Eunuch Bomber, given that his training and his equipment were both supplied by al-Qaeda, a warlike entity whose activities caused more death on American soil than even Pearl Harbor.

We are at war with agents of a foreign origin, using the tool of global terrorism; our war (declared or not; abandoned by Obama it seems) is with al-Qaeda, and with any trained fundamental Muslim who's been convinced or coerced by al-Qaeda that the suicide-killing of one's self whilst killing Americans will advance their religious, jihadist, warlike agendas. Yes, the Taliban is included in our war with al-Qaeda (for shielding al-Qaeda, and for pressing fundamentalist Muslim - Islamic death urges on Afghani citizens). Iraq was attacked and defeated for reasons not dissimilar.

Remember the Japanese kamikaze pilots who used explosive-laden planes in suicide attacks on our forces? We didn’t allow them (if they survived) to lawyer up and sit in a civilian jail, awaiting a trial in a civilian court, now did we? This failed bomber, Umar, and these various al-Qaeda-trained Guantanamo prisoners shouldn’t be allowed a civilian response to their warlike activities. All should be handed over to the military for a trial in a military tribunal, then if they are found guilty, summarily executed. Or returned to their homelands (as 12 were returned 12/21/09, just days in advance of Little Omar's conflagration). NOT EVER SHOULD ANY OF THESE WARLIKE INDIVIDUALS BE TRIED IN U.S. CIVILIAN COURTS!

Democrats are solely responsible for these 'redirect to civilian court' antics, and for the overall meltdown our national struggle against al-Qaeda and fundamentalist Islam.  It's Leftist Democrat's, and Barack Hussein Obama's, inability to recognize warlike aggressions against our nation that I find most faulty. Their blinded eyes and the weak levels of their inappropriate responses to these war criminals exemplify the permanent weaknesses in these soft, sorry, puny 'Progressive' Democrats. And examples like these inappropriate responses to both Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and Musa'abu Omar Al Madhwani are among the reasons Democrats seem weak; weak not only to our own citizens, but, more dangerously, weak and spineless to our enemies. Enemies who will take advantage of this weak, spineless, sitting Democrat President.

...if "American Authorities" hadn't thwarted full-body scanners, for "privacy concerns".

Whoever those "American Authorities" are, they need to be fired. Asplodey Abdulmutallab should never have been aboard a plane bound for the U.S., period.

But, there's some good news! REPUBLICAN Congressman Peter King (R, 3rd District, NY), ranking Republican on the House Committee of Homeland Security, demands this full-body screening begin immediately for all foreign flights inbound to the United States...
"I would say right now we do need full body scan, especially when you have countries like Nigeria, which have inadequate security, and you have passengers transiting in Amsterdam and coming here," Congressman Peter King told CBS news in an interview.

"There is a brief violation of privacy with the full body scan, but on the other hand we can save thousands of lives,"
Joe Lieberman (Independent, currently hated by the far-left; the only sensible Senator in the Democrat caucus) is also on board for that process...
"Three hundred people could have been killed and untold more on the ground in Michigan if this plane had crashed," Lieberman said referring to the explosive used by the Nigerian al-Qaida suspect in his attempt to blow up a US passenger plane on Christmas day.

"There have been privacy concerns expressed about the use of these whole body imaging devices, but I think those privacy concerns, have to fall in the face of the ability of these machines to detect material like this, explosive on this individual,"

Crying, whiny leftists to complain in 3, 2, 1...

"Profile away!" To stop future jihadist-terrorist killings, of course. Pamela Geller...
"Palin sounds very good here. Very good indeed. I am enormously encouraged. She gets better and better. Here's an issue no poltician will touch so fearful are they of being labled bigot, they will throw our troops on an IED and our nation under a bus. Palin has cujones and they are growing :) We love that."
You go, Sarah!

Palin on Nidal Hasan: "Profile Away"

I spoke to Governor Palin by phone this afternoon. Lots of interesting material, but to me the most interesting takeaways were the following:

1) I asked about Palin's upcoming visit to Ft. Hood. "We had planned on that before the tragedy struck," she said. She commented on the trail of evidence linking the alleged Ft. Hood shooter, Maj. Nidal Hasan, to militant Islam. "There were such clear, obvious, massive warning signs that were missed," she said. "This terrorist, even having business cards" that identified him as an "SoA" or soldier of Allah. Palin blamed a culture of political correctness and other decisions that "prevented -- I'm going to say it -- profiling" of someone with Hasan's extremist ideology. "I say, profile away," Palin said. Such political correctness, she continued, "could be our downfall." If the upcoming investigations into the attack reveal bad decision-making on the part of senior officials, Palin continued, those officials ought to be fired.
It only makes sense to smartly use our resources to best achieve desired results: the prevention of any further jihadist - terrorist events. So, we needs keep our eyes on all potential jihadists. Especially those who've given so many prior warnings. Yes, we failed those soldiers at Ft. Hood; failed because we succumbed to Political Correctness.

Signs that this terrorist was ready to act were ignored because of the Left's, the progressive's, Political Correctness. That ignoring cost lives. I suppose that Proggs think we have an ample population, and that we can spare a few people here and there, just to keep their Political Correctness bona fides intact.

Maybe they consider the people lost because of extreme political correctness to be simply very late, late-late, late term abortions?

John Murtha is getting his fat arse sued...by Marines. Those same Marines whom he backstabbed and declared guilty! before even they had a hearing.

Marine Plans To File Slander Suit Against Murtha

WASHINGTON, PA (KDKA) ? A local Marine cleared in the deaths of civilians in Iraq says Congressman John Murtha made public comments that were unproven, untrue and unfair.

Now, Lance Corporal Justin Sharratt is planning to file suit in federal court against Murtha on Thursday morning.

The suit accuses the congressman of slander and violating the Marine's right to a fair trial and due process.

Sharratt was one of eight Marines charged after 24 Iraqi civilians were killed in Haditha. He was charged with three counts of unpremeditated murder.

It's alleged in the lawsuit that before the outcome of the case, Congressman Murtha made slanderous comments.

Three years after the deaths, seven of eight Marines have been cleared, including Sharratt. There's now a website, JustinSharratt.com, to let the world know that he has been cleared.

The eighth Marine is still waiting for his day in court.

KDKA contacted Murtha's office for comment on this suit but there's no word back from them yet.

Just a bit of sweetness to offset a day of pure hell.

Another plus: The Examiner endorses John McCain. Instead of that, you know, walking talking telephone pole who hasn't any credible leadership.

h/t Ace for the Marine story; Insty for the Examiner link; me for that 'chop.
