In the middle of freakin' nowhere (near Bryson City, NC) I turn on my laptop to offload a camerafull of images, and...there's a stray wireless signal. Imagine my surprise. Two years ago I doubt anyone in this county had wireless internet; now, you can't escape it.

Anyway, I'm stealing bandwidth long enough to post a couple pics from the area.

From the Oconoluftee River, pre-dam. Off my front porch; next pic from the upper steps of the Jackson County Courthouse in Sylva.

Now turn this damn thing off and get on the river!

This 'stitched' photo is actually 4 regular pics put together, in a monster-wide view of Nickajack Lake (actually the Tennessee River) near Chattanooga. Taken from HWY 156 (a little shortcut from Cowan to the Interstate...)

Click on this monster if you can, to see the whole thing. Hosted by Photobucket; preview by Blogger.

Luckily I escaped the (small) city of Nashville yesterday. Flip a page, and you find Cadiz, Kentucky.

There were no 'war protests' in Cadiz over the weekend, on that I will bet a house payment. And no one burned the flag, or dragged soldier effigys around the town square. There were no big-city antics going on up here.

Too many flags were burned over the weekend. Enough, I say. I want the real thing, for a change, posted on this site.

This monster flag, placed by a Church (next to Wildcat Cheverolet, off I-65) was burning from Al Gore's nemesis...yes, that ultimate source of the planet's energy, the Sun. While AlGore was showing off his fool self in the hallowed halls of the Congress and Senate yesterday (can I pretend to be a scientist, too? Please? Please!) I positioned myself to get a few shots of this wind-whipped beauty.

So, forgettabout the noisome protests for half a second, and enjoy old Glory, warming..

And, Cadiz does have Curb appeal. ...

Information on Trigg County, Kentucky...here's the most important statistic I found:

2004 Presidential Election results in Trigg County Kentucky:
Bush/Cheney (Republican): 65.8%
Kerry/Edwards (Democratic): 33.5%
That's certainly a warming statistic...

Oh, before I forget. I found my next Bumper Sticker...
