Obama's Senate Vote on the Raising the Debt Ceiling, 2006: Hell, NO! Now, CHANGE!
Posted by kotang at 5:33 AMYes, Barack Obama has changed his mind again, this time on an issue he felt so strongly about that he marched straight up to the podium on the Senate floor and whipped off this heartfelt and divisive statement...
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.Damn, he sounded good then, didn't he? If he would only speak those same lines today, a short 5 years later, he'd be a man of his convictions and one might could take him seriously. But NO!. Now, he's CHANGEed his mind; now he's changed his opinion from that earlier 'then' because 'now' what he spoke is harmful to his innate dirty socialist ways.
Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here'. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.
But we remember these things, Baracky. He's confronted with his earlier statement, and decides his thoughts in 2006 were little more than political hackery and small-mindedness, not deserving of consideration, then or now...
What a harmful tool to this nation is Barack Hussein Obama. He's still engaging in the same political hackery and small-mindedness as he claims he did in 2006; only now he's just changed sides, flipped 180 degrees to make his new 'now' debt choices fit his narrative. Witness his Wednesday speech, widely seen as that of a mere 'Community Organizer' plotting his re-election strategy and not the speech of a President who should take the nation in the direction that would correct our deep budget crisis.
Barack Obama "is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership." Yes, Barack, you're right. "Americans deserve better".
Democrats had to ride to the rescue to save his 2011 budget proposal from going down in flames, as 59 'Good Men and Women' voted against the Boehner - Reid- Obama compromise that cut a whopping $353 millions! from the Democrat's 2011's budget.
No wonder BHO was so giddy Wednesday when it came to newspeak speech-time; he hardly had to do a thing to get a cave from the GOP.
Let's hope that he doesn't get his debt ceiling increase. But I'm not holding my breath.
Note:
My own Congressman and Representative from Tennessee's 6th Congressional District, Diane Black (self-described on the Twitter as a "Mother, grandmother, nurse, small business owner and conservative Republican") voted FOR this 2011 budget. Weak, Diane Black, weak. Must be the grandmotherly thing. We need strong, vigorous, staunch Conservatives representing the people; not weak secondary caregivers. Keep up this faux-conservatism, we'll have a nice Tea Party candidate running against you in the Primary come 2012.
