From today's New Yawk Times, coverage of a lefty slugfest revolving around ship-jumping David Axelrod's lack of understanding of what exactly "Hippy Punching" means, and why the 'Professional Left' supposedly now has to don protective headgear.

Not mindful the fact that they of the 'Professional Left' are ignorant 'Bearded Marxist' flakes who need drug-testing (and punching), these extreme-left-wing bloggers and pundits (one of Crooks and Liars' top liars, Susie Mudrake, started this kerfuffle last week when she accused Axelrod of 'hippy punching') are seriously wondering why even their own duly-elected dirty socialists seemingly shun their crazy antics; these hippies are all up in BHO's face because he's not far-left enough to suit their strange wishes.

For HILARITY™, here's a couple of the comments from NYT's piece...
“Why is Barack Obama obsessed with appeasing the establishment? Was he being completely disingenuous when he ran on change?"
Because, if one looks at his personal story - Harvard, U Chicago, speech at Demo convention, it is clear that Barack Obama is a "made man" and he was made by (and to serve) "the establishment." He IS the establishment, or more cynically, one in a long line of American Uncle Tom's. A sad old story. [emboldenings mine -ed]
Was that one far left enough for you? Try this one...
But - people lumping Obama's disapproval ratings into one homogenous pile are making a big mistake. Those aren't a Republican votes. Much of the disapproval is from the left - people who don't think bills like health care and finreg went far enough. It's one thing to answer a poll question on the phone, its another to decide not go out and vote. But the Dems had better do something real to bring those people out on election day. Of course, totally dropping the ball on DADT and the tax cuts was NOT a very good show. Oy.

Look, the barbarians at at the gates fellas. History isn't going to talk about what the professional left did. It's gonna talk about how you managed to convince and fight and resurrect this country from decline under 8 years of George W. Bush (and the people he represents) or it's gonna be about how the unholy alliance of the Tea Party and the irresponsible wealthy kicked your butts and finished the job GWB started.

It was a tough, tough campaign, but we believed in you. We knocked on the doors, we made the phone calls, we gave the money. We put you in charge.

Now do something, damn it.
'Barbarians' are at the gates? Really? This fellow needs to follow the line of American history, and note exactly where this Republic jumped ship, right about when 'hippies' became 'grown-ups' and took over the Democrat Party. Then, we see the out-of-control entitlements that have all but broken this nation, and the promises of more and more from Democrat looters for to attract their target-audience-moocher's votes. There you will find your barbarians, fellow.

Oh, my favorite, from (wait for it) 'ObscureChemist'...
Nice piece. Comprehensive and concise, just the way I like it. Has anyone other than the questioner ever heard of "hippie punching"? Sure is new to this old hippie. Sounds like a cheap shot at a group of young folks who made America examine her conscience. Hippies are not a joke.
THREAD WINNAH! Mr. ObscureChemist gets the Stupid Comment of the Day award. Now, go do a couple lines in celebration, why don't you? Oh, you didn't really need at all my encouragements?

Carry on, then. Dirty Stupid Socialist Hippy Jerk.
