We haven't said much this week about the trial of Willie Clark, the man accused of shooting and killing Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams. There have been no developments as riveting as Friday's testimony from receiver Brandon Marshall, who by all appearances was the man for whom the bullet that killed Williams was intended.Prolly an easy case to prosecute.
But the trial is grinding along, with the prosecution still presenting its case-in-chief. On the stand today was a man to whom Clark allegedly admitted firing the shots.
The man, Vernon Edwards, is a convicted drug dealer who has known Clark for nearly 16 years. Edwards testified that Clark claimed a gun had been pulled on him. Edwards said he advised Clark to turn himself in; Clark instead opted to "go on the run."
The Denver Post also has a solid summary of Wednesday's courtroom developments, which included an aggressive cross examination of a police detective by Clarks' lawyer, and the jailing of yet another reluctant witness. On Tuesday, a witness testified that Clark asked her to hide a white Tahoe SUV that had been used in the shooting. On Monday, Daniel "Ponytail" Harris testified that he was in the vehicle and saw Clark fire the shots.
