A natural reaction to a perceived threat.

Whether you agree with the sentiments or not, a businessman spent his money to put this sign up. If you don't like it, you can always spend your money to put up a billboard across the way. Something like "Barack Obama, Mmmmmm, Mmmmm, MMMMMMM!" if that's what you like.

Or maybe, "LOOK! BUNNIES!". Or unicorns, as the case may be.
