Padma Lakshmi, Perfect 10
Oh. Sorry. Wrong Tit-ans.
This is really getting freaky. I'm probably the last person alive who would've thought that Tennessee's team would be 10-0 today, and sitting in the driver's seat not only in the AFC South, but in the AFC overall. We're starting to think 1st round bye, and home field for the playoffs. All of this will sink in when I have to cut that check for those two playoff games, probably tomorrow. Something about a lighter wallet always seems to get my attention...but this isn't an unwelcome event.
Of course I didn't go to Jacksonville to watch this game. Instead, I spent some well-needed time at the range, trying out some new reloads for .44 Magnum and .45 ACP. I did get home just in time to watch the 2nd half, which turned out to be the better half.
At halftime, the Titans were down 14-3, and Jacksonville was seemingly on the way to finally ending this storybook run. Then, the second half happened, and Tennessee scored 21 unanswered points to win 24-14. I don't know what Coach Fisher said in the locker room, or what adjustments he made, but he worked some sort of miracle.
From NFL dot com...
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Behind, ahead. Home, away. Backups, starters. No matter the situation, the Tennessee Titans keep finding ways to win.
And stay unbeaten.
Kerry Collins threw three touchdown passes, Albert Haynesworth dominated defensively again and the Titans improved to 10-0 with a 24-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.Tennessee overcame a 14-3 halftime deficit, got solid play from third-string cornerback Chris Carr and extended its franchise-record winning streak in the regular season to 13. The Titans also won their seventh consecutive regular-season road game.

So, next Sunday I'll be back in the stands with my camera, hoping to get a great shot of Brett Favre and his New York Jets. Maybe we'll get another win.
I mentioned this before...if the Titans get a win next weekend (that's not guaranteed, given the Jets are 7-3 and Favre is guaranteed a seat in the Hall of Fame, if he ever retires) then the next game will be on Thanksgiving Day. In Detroit. Where we might see the spectacle of two teams as polar opposites: 11-0 vs. 0-11.
Today, for the first time in NFL history, in some 12,000 plus games, a game ended with the final score of 11-10 (that freaky Steelers vs. Chargers game, where the final TD was called back because of a 'forward pass' nobody saw); and, for the first time since 2002, a game ended in a tie (Eagles, Bengals). But those would pale in comparison to the improbability of a 12-0 team directly causing an 0-12 team.
Now, to write that check..
