Handed this flyer today while traversing near Haywood Lane and I-24 in South Nashville.

By the young man's mother.
"The man shot to death at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday outside his apartment in the Bavaria complex at 4501 Packard Drive is identified as David T. Martin, 27.

"Martin and a friend had just arrived in the complex and were walking to Martin’s apartment when they were approached by a man near the parking lot who asked to use a phone. As Martin and his friend entered the apartment, the man pulled a gun and demanded their money. After robbing the two, the suspect left the apartment. Martin quickly retrieved a gun with the intention of pursuing the robber. As he opened the apartment door to head out, the suspect fired a shot. Martin was hit and pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

"The suspect is described as a young black man, approximately 5’9” tall, with a slender build. He was wearing a gray hoodie.

"Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or South Precinct Investigations at 862-7763."
I told Mrs. Martin I was from Smyrna, and didn't have any info. She told me to 'be careful around here'.

That's true of everywhere, now, really. But I remember Bavaria Apartments, from the early '80's, as still being one of the nicer choices of compartments in Nashville. Now, it's not very attractive. Not so much.

Good luck, Mrs. Martin.
