Leftism 'out the door' in London: Conservative Johnson in, Democrat (sorry, Labour) Livingstone out
Posted by kotang at 11:57 AMWe've a new boss in Londontown. Boris Johnson, stalwart of the Conservative party, is the new Mayor of London. Prime Minister Gordon Brown, leader of the now-third-place Labour Party, may face a challenge before the mandatory 2010 election. Well, he's Leftist as well, so let's hope that happens sooner than later.
How big is this win in the scheme of British politics? Well, Johnson is the very first Conservative elected to Mayor of London (held since the post was created in 2000 by Labour's Livingstone).
The defeated "Red Ken" Livingston is much politically like America's far left fringe. From American Thinker...
Good riddance, indeed.
From The Patriot Room, Bill Dupray thinks Johnson might be fun to watch; given his slaps at Political Correctness (these in America would be considered a political 'death sentence')...
How far off rocker has Britain strayed since WWII? PW's The Sanity Inspector posted this last night, uncovering a new direction our World's Leftists are taking to rewrite history...this time, the inclusion of Adolph Hitler as the next Leftist Hero...
With the defeat of Livinstone in London, maybe the fall of Britain can slow, and the more intelligent sorts on the Right can prevent further decline. Let's hope so.
Here on this side of the pond, let's hope the Leftists who control the MSM never get their chance to Nationally Socialize our country. Any more than they already have, of course.

...[Livingston] was a blatant fan of every Marxist thug and radical Moslem in the world. Livingston's comments about the Holocaust, about Israel and about the suspect loyalties of young Jews in Britain are despicable. Goodbye to a mayor who said: "For far too long the accusation of anti-Semitism has been used against anyone who is critical of the policies of the Israeli government, as I have been."An anti-semite, a neo-BDS proponent as well as a marxist Chavez ass-kisser.
Five years ago, Livingston was calling President Bush "the most corrupt American president since Warren Harding in the Twenties" and "not the legitimate president." He embraced Hugo Chavez, the Marxist thug who is trying to be a new Castro.
Good riddance, indeed.

Uncombed and often awkward, Johnson is known both his wit and for remarks that are have offended minority communities and others.
He labeled members of the Commonwealth “piccaninnies” — a derogatory term for black people, referred to Africans as having “watermelon smiles,” and likened his party’s internal conflicts “to Papua New Guinea-style orgies of cannibalism and chief-killing.”
Johnson’s scorn has also been directed at gay marriage, which became legal in Britain in 2005. In his book “Friends, Voters, Countrymen,” he said that if homosexuals could marry then why not “three men, as well as two men; or indeed three men and a dog.”

Romanticising the second world war has led us into foreign policy traps ever since. We look for new crusades against new Hitlers and new Mussolinis. We yearn to cheer our young men into "good wars", to fight once more against the simple badness of fascism. Tony Blair thought he could detect a national interest in fighting Saddam because he was so anxious to emulate Churchill and defeat "evil". Hitler was monstrous and wicked; but we fought him, not for that reason, but because he was trying to make his country a rival great power, using force where necessary. As PW commenter Ric Locke points out, can Hitler be far from joining the Leftist Love Circle?
Other leaders, including British and American, have pursued similar foreign policies. As Taylor observed, there was nothing especially wrong with Hitler on the international stage except that he was a German. Equally, there was nothing wrong with Saddam except that he was an Iraqi. The difference between him in 2003 and Hitler in 1939 was that the latter posed a genuine threat and there was no need to quote liberal or humanitarian justifications.
What we are seeing here is the beginnings of the Left’s rehabilitation of Adolf Hitler.Heh. I can see the movement now, starting in San Francisco and Columbia University, the flash-seed points of leftism in America. As they have with the BDS nonsense these past seven years, most Democrats would casually embrace whatever they are fed by these kook-fringe leftists...after all, the majority of Dems want a form of National Socialism, starting with nationalized health care, then the seizeure of Oil companies because of the evil profits. The brownshirts of Political Correctness are in place in every major American University (except BYU, I suppose).
It makes sense. All the other mass murderers, genocidists, and the like have been admitted to the Pantheon. Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot, all the way down to pikers like Castro, if they’ve killed enough people and engaged in enough bombast they are Icons of the Left™, with gushingly admiring retrospectives and mass-market T-shirts and velvet paintings with faux gold leaf rays of Sheer Goodness emanating from their heads. Only poor Adolf is left out. It’s a pity, really. He certainly killed enough people to be ‘way ahead of Saddam and Fidel, and he made all the noises about Socialism and the Good of the Volk, but somehow he got left out.
Never fear. We on the Right have for years been pointing out that Hitler was a Socialist who did all the Socialist things, from nationalizing industry to murdering millions. Now it turns out that the Left agrees. By this time next year he will take his rightful place alongside Stalin as Hero of the Revolution™ and leading light of the Vanguard of the Proletariat™, cruelly frustrated in his ambitions by the Callous Forces of Reaction™ and forced to desperate and unpalatable measures by that opposition. Let me know when the Hermann Göring T-shirts go on sale.
Regards,
Ric
