Police say the thief drilled a hole into the gas tanks of two SUVs and stole the gas. The first time it was a Chevy Silverado pick up truck, the second hit was on a Jeep Liberty SUV - that time the thief got scared off and left a bucket of gas just sitting there.
No so surprising. I remember this sort of stuff in the '70's, when gas was in short supply and expensive. Good people bought locking gas caps; thieves punch holes in their tanks and drained the fuel that way (I don't think they used a drill, folks, probably just a nail).

Don't expect this sort of thing to be flukish. Now, with almost all vehicles protected against siphoning, and locking gas caps almost built-in, these desperate thieves will do anything.

Have I ever said that I hate a thief worse than most all other criminals? Well, there you have it.

Remember...garage your vehicle[s] if possible. Have a dog. Defend your stuff.
