At a forum at the National Newspaper Publishing Association (over 200 black community newspapers in the U.S.) Hillary got on a apology roll. Her apologies whitewashed her husband, Bill Clinton, for his comments comparing Obama's South Carolina primary win to Jesse Jackson's primary wins in '84 and '88 (well, comparing Obama to Jackson is a deep cut; Jackson is far more racist and inflammatory than Obama). Hillary...
“I want to put that in context. You know I am sorry if anyone was offended. It was certainly not meant in any way to be offensive,” Hillary Clinton said. “We can be proud of both Jesse Jackson and Senator Obama.”Yeah, we know about your husband's hidden but actual racial insensitivities, Hillary. Remember, he's repeatedly lied to the entire nation; his lying under oath got him impeached. So, we really, really want to believe everything you and Bill say. Really.
“Anyone who has followed my husband’s public life or my public life know very well where we have stood and what we have stood for and who we have stood with,”
“I certainly do repudiate it and I regret deeply that it was said. Obviously she doesn’t speak for the campaign, she doesn’t speak for any of my positions, and she has resigned from being a member of my very large finance committee.”Here we have the politically correct Racial Trap sprung on Democrats. This trap (along with the gender pitfall) was fostered by Democrats, created by Democrats, and now they are swinging from their own gallows. Don't you love it?
Hillary capped her apology spree with more Katrina spin. Just imagine Hillary standing there, saying...
“I’ve said it publicly, and I say it privately: I apologize, and I am embarrassed that our government so mistreated our fellow citizens … It was a national disgrace...”A disgrace, Hillary, that the city of New Orleans was so lackadaisical in getting people prepared for the inevitable strike; and another disgrace that still New Orleans isn't accepting of the fact that another strike could do the same sorts of damage again (because, maybe, the city is on the coast, is mostly below sea level, and has been for centuries?) The city needs some stronger dikes.
But, you know, when you're on a apology roll you just gotta let your feelings dictate your toungue. And isn't that what most of these Democrats love to spout? These feel-good policies and apologies that have little to do with solving actual problems, but are sure to attract votes from the American Idlers who want an easy way out?
