Red Sox conduct Home Run Derby; will meet the Colorado Rockies in the World Series...
Posted by kotang at 9:31 PM...in Boston, Wednesday night. The Cleveland Indians (who?) lost 11-2 in an ignominious fashion tonight. Several ignominious losses, actually, given they once led the series 3-1. Boston came back and won 3 straight games, each one being an elimination game. Pressure cookers have no obvious effect on the Boston Red Sox.
This WS will be one for the record books. The Rockies have an exceptional 21 out of 22-game winning streak going in. They swept the Diamondbacks in the NLCS (sigh) and are the favorites to win the World Series. But they've never done this kind of thing before; Boston finally won the thing in 2004.
I'll have to pull for the Rockies. But I'm more than intrigued by this Boston squad. I don't expect a sweep by the Rockies this time. They've sat for 8 days, and are entering Fenway Park Wednesday night as complete strangers to the World Serious.
We'll just have to wait and see.
