Sweeping the Floors at the Senate, after the Immigration Bill is Tossed on the Heap
Posted by kotang at 8:43 PMThursday late evening...by now, the blogosphere has already digested the meal that was the Senate's best, served right before the closing bell; the solid slam-dunk disapproval of the weakly-written Kennedy-McCain-Feingold (!) Immigration Reform Act.
Conservatives won this one. Bush, not a Conservative, took it on the chin. As he should have. Is this the final blow to Bush? Can he win back enough support from his rank-and-file to continue his administration of the Middle East Wars? Well, if he can't, it's his fault. It's a shame he misread so much, and put so much of his political future in the hands of his enemies. I still can't believe he would oppose his base, and put faith in such people as Senators Reid and Kennedy...both of whom have trashed him and vilified him to no end. Why did Bush think he could win this one?
The Democrats who voted against cloture are all from Conservative states, and had to listen to their constituents, or face their immediate wrath...all of the Senators are going home, right now, for the summer. Remember, thank those who voted the way you wanted. In Tennessee, Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander will get my letters of Thanks.
George Bush will get a letter as well, chastising him for his stupidity in crawling in bed with Ted Kennedy in the first place.
McCain can clean out his GOP Presidential Candidacy offices forthwith...and he'll probably sweep the places out himself, to be sure to get his deposits back...I would guess his contributions are sub-zero right about now.
The rest of the Senators who lost this vote will have some 'splaining to do, and will gripe and bellyache about the 'TalkRadioInternetLoudmouths who actually won this thing'. They will probably try to put down Rush, and Sean, and whoever else is talking points they don't like.
Hillary? Who cares what Hillary does? Or what's-her-face-whiny-wife-of-Brecky...
I'm much more interested in Ann Coulter.
