Madman Mahmoud Plays the Drudge Fiddle (and causes Israel to sit up even higher)
Posted by kotang at 9:45 AM
Drudge had/has this page up Sunday afternoon, linking to this Reuter's article, for to give platform to this Madman's rantings. I've covered these rantings already, and the Skipper had a good read on that as well...damn, we're going to miss him...
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's president said on Sunday the Lebanese and the Palestinians had pressed a "countdown button" to bring an end to Israel. What do you want to bet there's a few sweaty fingers near launch buttons in Israel right about now? Of course there is! This nut wants armageddon, welcomes a chance to get that missing Imam out of the well, and he wants to take that responsibility on himself. Never before in World History has a true Madman been this close to causing an Atomic Incident. By proof of that, we did make it through (well, maybe we're through the days of Mutual Assured Destruction, look at the other headline on Drudge's page, where Putin wants a little attention, too...)
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who triggered outrage in the West two years ago when he said Israel should be "wiped off the map", has often referred to the destruction of the Jewish state but says Iran is not a threat.
"With God's help, the countdown button for the destruction of the Zionist regime has been pushed by the hands of the children of Lebanon and Palestine," Ahmadinejad said in a speech.
"By God's will, we will witness the destruction of this regime in the near future," he said. He did not elaborate.
In an interview with the Globe and Mail, Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to target Europe with missiles, including potentially nuclear weapons, in a dramatic escalation of his Cold War-style showdown with the United States.and
"It is obvious that if part of the strategic nuclear potential of the United States is located in Europe, and according to our military experts will be threatening us, we will have to respond," he said.Well, we've been through Cold War with the Russians, and I would enjoin that Cold War again in trade for the hot one we're certain to see if Madman keeps pressuring Israel.
"What kind of steps are we going to take in response? Of course, we are going to get new targets in Europe."
