There's a lot of interesting happenings going on, right now, each worthy of a stand-alone post (or a follow up), but I've just time for one.

This Eco nut bag, Paul Watson, does more damage to what properly should be a scientific discussion (brought to public perception with actual provable observations and evidence, not that evidence is difficult to see, it's just difficult to accept) by running his yap, and reducing the message to mulch, much like Al Gore does to Global Warming. In other words, the message is sullied by the politics of the messenger.

The undeniable message is that we are overpopulating the planet. The messenger is a true eco whack job, hoping to see 85% of humanity die off, to make room for other concurrent species' survival. That's just crazy; humans are the only important species on the planet. There are better ways to reduce human population over time (China is leading the world in practicing controlled population growth.) Of course, the messenger being some greenie eco-whack, he immediately brings out the right wing big guns and brings me smack-dab in confrontation, with that one issue that I share with the some of the liberals...

Yes, I believe that humans are overpopulating the planet. The current 'modern society' we run requires continued industrial growth, of which Global Warming is a byproduct; to end Global Warming would mean that much of what we've accomplished (the collective human successes) might well be reversed, and we will would probably start looking like humanity did a few centuries ago. That's not what a technologically-evolved society wants, but it's what's going to happen to our race if we don't peak population soon.

Of course, with the wrong messenger, we get a lot of immediate backlash from otherwise good bloggers. Here's some commentary from the Nice Doggy:

You know what?

You’ve got me convinced. You’re right. We’ll start the exterminations tomorrow.

Don’t be late, and be sure to bring all of your friends.

You wouldn’t want to be known as an Enemy of Mother Gaia by not complying, would you?
I can't blame him at bit; Watson's drivel deserves no less than some direct rebuke.

From Ace:
The Agent Smith Theory Of Global Warming: Children Bad For Planet; Environmentalist Calls Humanity A "Virus," Seeks 4.5 Billion Human Deaths

The article labels this guy an "eco-extremist." That may be true, but it's misleading: Talk to any lefty environmental bleeding heart and they will, eventually, express the same desire for massive deaths of humans on an unprecedented scale. They actively root for epidemics and natural disasters.
That's now the perception of any science that would suggest a moderation of the birth rates...I think Ace's commenter here sums up the cost of Watson's article...
Looks like me and the spouse will have to do a little unprotected screwing tonight, to make up for all the ecofreaks.

(sigh)
