On a cold Saturday morning, Smyrna honored hometown Fallen Hero Neal Mitchell, with a ceremony unveiling an inscription in stone. In attendence were Rolling Thunder, local officials, the Smyrna High School ROTC Color Guard, and family. Taps were sounded.
SPC Raymond N. "Neal" Mitchell III was born Dec. 30, 1985, in Smyrna. SPC Mitchell died Jan. 6, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, from wounds sustained during routine security operations.
