UPDATED 4/5/07
Pac did an interview with the NFL network, after his meeting with the commissioner. We're seeing some of the same old stuff:
“I’ve got some things I need to apologize for,” Jones said. “I apologize to the NFL for the publicity they’re getting. I apologize to the Tennessee Titans for the negative publicity I’ve brought to the team. I apologize to my teammates for letting them down. I just pray to God that when this is over with, I just can be a normal player. I don’t want to say a normal player, but just be one of the guys and enjoy myself on the football field.”and these gems...
“I’ve put myself in some bad situations as far as picking my places to go or picking who to take with me. So I take total responsibility for that. You live and you learn,” Jones said. “If it still keeps happening, then you can point the finger and say he still ain’t learned. They can say I’ve been in 10 incidents. The first 10 incidents was my first year and a little bit of my second year. But my last year, I really wasn’t in no incidents the whole season.”and
“I know that has a lot to do with the way people characterize me, my dreads; I wear jewelry. He’s quote unquote a thug. That’s what you think of people with jewelry and dreads, driving fancy cars or got two or three boys with them. I think that has a lot to play with it. Am I not supposed to wear my jewelry? Am I supposed to cut my hair?”What's gotten my attention is Pac's failure to comprehend the gravity of his situation.
From Pac... "...I’m either going to choose to turn around or I’m going to be back in the projects..."
Well, Pac, you're still not getting it. The situation you're in, now, is well past the obvious point that you've put your career at risk...by making it rain in Las Vegas, and hiding the burning weeds in Georgia. Probably you need to forget returning to 'the projects' anytime soon, it's increasingly possible you have to serve time, somewhere, maybe in 'Vegas (if the legal system there ever gets past the 'scared of the NFL, afraid to annoy BIG Sports, because we really want a team you see, the boxing thing just isn't working out...)
No, it's not the projects you should fear, but that little square box with a stainless steel sink, a cot, and loud, smelly roommates who wouldn't care if your hair is long, as long as you can smile on Friday date night...
"...That’s the biggest thing I really had to learn. I never knew that someone else’s actions can really affect you the way that it does." Now, Pac, you get to learn another little concept, "actions" have "consequences"

"At a secret site in New York City, Pacman Jones met face-to-face with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday.I wanted to expound on what might have transpired in that meeting, fly-on-the-wall thing, but instead wasted time with this photochop.
In the hours that followed, no one involved in the meeting had any comment. Within 10 days, however, the fate of the Titans cornerback will no longer be a secret."
Jeff Fisher had to say something to Pac before he left; maybe it was "Just keep your mouth out of the gutter, and try to be humble, because you are representing Nashville, Tennessee, and your teammates, and me...and we don't deserve the crap you've been piling on us."
Well, that would work for me...
