Yesterday in Chattanooga I was fortunate enough to see a CFD Tiller Ladder Truck practicing maneuvers in a parking lot. There's a lot to learn and master to drive one of these big rigs, especially the rear cab. Everything has to come together to make a tight turn...or you're rubbing rubber off on a curb.

I have great respect for Fire crews nationwide, and wish these guys (and gals) and their counterparts nationwide nothing but the best...

"Tiller ladder trucks have metal ladders that can expand, like a telescope, to reach up in the air about 100 feet (ten stories high). The tiller ladder truck has two steering wheels and two drivers - one in the front and one in the back. The one in the back controls the rear wheels of the truck, and allows this very long truck to go around corners easily."

That might have been a slight bump...but altogether, this particular crew made several passes around the pylons with no problems at all.

Note the blooming in Chattanooga...March 13, and we're right on target for a beautiful spring.
